A printer is probably one of the most stressful things to try to buy these days! Thanks for doing this.

Thank you Krystle. This was thoughtful and concise as usual. I've had my eye on the Epson P900. This playlist about making art prints is super helpful. Very generous.

I have gone through 3 P900's. One died a month after the warranty so I had to buy a new one. Then that one died after 6 months of use and they sent me a refurbished P900 and that one died after only 2 months. All 3 had the same problem. The ink would take forever to cycle when replacing then it would completely fill the maintenance cartage. I hope you have better luck with it.

Wow, that's some serious problems! That's why I definitely think the P800 is better but they no longer make it, so as I said in the video if you're looking for a current one on the market, unfortunately P900 is still the best option. Unless you found a different better printer?

Me too, I still use Epson paper most of the time. But I do have some red river papers that I use every once in a while.

You say in the video that you are looking for a new printer because you are having problems finding ink for your P800. Why would you recommend the P800 if there are issues getting ink? Wouldn’t the newer P900 be a better choice long term? Just wanting to understand your thought process.

Did you not watch the end of my video? Because I did say pretty much exactly that, the P800 is a better machine, but the P900 would be the best of the two because of the fact that it’s newer and you can definitely get ink. that said, you can now get ink for the P800 and it really is a better machine. like I said in the video, they’re also risks with buying a used machine. A new one has a warranty from the manufacturer, which is clearly a benefit.

Thank you. I did watch the entire video. The fact that you can get ink for the 800 makes it a better alternative. One more question since you’ve used both machines - does the updated technology on the 900 make a difference compared to the older generation technology on the 800? I’ve read the reviews for both on the website you recommended, Red River, but I can’t really tell how much difference the newer technology actually makes. Thanks again for responding. Very helpful.

I love my Epson P6000, I have the 24 inch wide one. The colors are amazing. Fits in my studio well. It does come in a larger size. Ink is very affordable when it comes to pigment based ink printers, the quality of the prints are the best you can get on the market. I've had this printer for about five years and it's still going strong. I would recommend it to anyone.

Hi Krystle, I want to print out line drawings onto mixed media paper to sell at art fairs here in the UK, for my customers to color in as coloring pages. The ink needs to be waterproof and not smudge, if someone uses watercolor. What type of printer would you recommend ?. I have been told that laser printers might work. Many thanks, from Alan here in the UK.

I think the P900 would do it, the pigment based ink from Epson does not smudge if it gets wet. It does depend on the type of paper you use. I would use a mat paper if you’re having them color the pages. you might contact Epson and ask them if there is a lower grade printer that would also work since you are only printing in black-and-white. Their sales reps would know what ink would not smudge. and that might save you some money.

Thought I'd follow up on this, I recently did a test of Epson P900 and cold press paper for watercoloring coloring book pages, since I had several of you wondering about it. Watch to see the results ruclips.net/video/lFdb6iT2nIo/видео.html
