  • Hey Y'all!
    I have been on the HUNT for a new printer to be able to print my stickers and art prints for my shop. I literally researched the cleavages of the internet, scored forums, reddit and all sorts of technical blogs. Watched HOURS of videos. I invested about 9-ish hours figuring out which printer I wanted to invest in. I wanted to give you my thoughts on how I chose my printer in hopes that it may save you some time. Since filming this video, I have printed on sticker paper, fine art cotton paper and premium photo paper with OUTSTANDING results. Actually better than the lab I used to use for my prints. It was very easy to set up and I have had no problems with it communication to my VERY old Mac.
    If you want to purchase the printer that I did, you can buy it here and it will give me a small little kick back at no additional cost to you. AND! It's on sale right now!!! I paid $800 but it's $650 right now.
    Epson ET-8550:

    Thank you so much for watching and I'm SUPER excited to get some stickers and art in the shop SOON!
    xoxo

    The other tip I'd mention is to shut the printer off when not in use. Especially on the less expensive machines that take two cartridges with printheads on them. When you shut it off it returns them to a caping station that sealed the cartridge. Keeping it on exposes the printheads to air and prematurely dries them out. So orint regularly, something. And shut off off, when not in use.
    Thanks for the review and your insights. Epson may be the way i go if my sticker printing needs increase. Loading a single sheet at a time on a 42" plotter is getting annoying.

    I have 2 epson ET, 4850 & 15000, I don't use the 15000 much, but with my 4850 since this video, I have filled the tanks twice. I junk journal and make cards. I had an HP before, and in 6 months I could handle the ink subscription. It cost more for me. Now, my laser printer, canon image class lbp632......O my word....fast print and after the starter toner is done, the 067H has lasted longer. I use it just as much as the epson. And I will say the price is equal. My laser printer was on sale for $259 at the time and the 15000 was $699 at the time. 4850 was $389 at the time. My eco tank had to sit for 3 weeks not used while gone and that was a mess. the laser no problem. In all, i love both and use both and can't live without both! I prefer laser for covers and stickers, but images and signature pages i prefer the inkjet. The only thing I don't like is dealing with the maintenance box on the epson. Those are expensive and I have had to replace the one for the 4850 already.

    love my Epson Picture mate as well! I have a lower end Epson eco tank. I love it in theory but have had tons of issues with it. I have to clean the heads every time I use it. I'm sure it is user error or something, but it is not plug and go like all other printers I have had. I do love that the ink lasts FOREVER! I tend to use my laser printer more of late.

    Woah, I feel like I am in a very similar situation - I also do mostly traditional art and I was looking at these two exact models tge most, and at the beginning I was also concerned about it maybe being a pigment one, so as to have a better lightfastness, but then the price hits you (especially as a student 😅)
    And I also have the exact same scanner at home, for about 7 years now 🤣 And I love it too ☺️💕
    I'm getting more and more convinced for this particular model 👀 the main thing I'm concerned about is some people report there are metal elements that cause indents in their prints, especially in thicker paper 🤔

    HP Instant Ink is life changing! Saves so much money. They always send the ink cartridges in advance. Sometimes I forget to send ink back and np and that make it easy. I would love to see the color vibrancy of the stickers printed from the Epson. My hp doesn't print the blues out pretty. Can't get turquoise. Gives me dark blue ugh when I try. I did away with the EPSON pigment cartridges... just couldn't take the expense anymore. The EcoTank is a game changer. Love the prints and the speed. I've had it for a few years and haven't had to buy any ink yet. Glossy premium paper prints are amazing... but yeah... gotta keep it clean inside. It does throw the occasional ink blob.

    • @AliBrownie
      @AliBrownie  Год назад +2

      I used to be able to drill a hole in the top of the cartridge and just reset the chip on the spent cartridge but you can't do that anymore with the newer cartridges. It's so frustrating. I'm grateful for the Eco Tank but the little $40 printer is awful in ink price. I am considering replacing it with a laser printer just to be able to print out my packaging slips.

    Printers, microwaves, refrigerators, dishwashers, washing machines and dryers now have what is called a kill switch. After so many iterations of running the product they just “break” and it is more expensive to fix them than to buy a new one. This keeps the companies in businesses.
    With the Hewlett-Packard printer, you do not have to subscribe to their ink subscription. However, there is more ink in their subscription based inks. However, we seem to be switching out our black cartridge. Maybe even every 50 pages. Have not kept track but find it to be close to the number of sheets.
