I have two turtles, both hatchlings...a soft shell turtle and a yellow belly slider. They love together and do not mind each other. I would love to show you my tank but I can’t put pictures on the comments.
Great information. My mother gifted my children 4 red ear slider hatchlings and they are growing fast so I would prefer a tank set up like yours with the plastic bin because the glass tank upgrade we will need is going to be expensive. Thank you so much I feel better now 😊
i got my 2 red eared sliders about 2 weeks ago and they are really skittish at first but are now improving.i added some danios in their enclosure just to add some more movement in it and maybe a snack when they get hungry.😊
Great Video! Really informative. In retrospect: You could have used an even longer clip from my struggling Baby-Musk ;) It was much more desperate in those next few seconds... should have told you: for a educating purpose like your vids, you can use as much seconds as you wish... :) Forgot to do that, after visiting your cannel... Anyway, keep up the good work! Best of Luck 👍
I found a baby res in a near by pond. I live in Florida and they are invasive so I took it and made it a nice tank. At first I felt so guilty for taken it from it's home but I had to tell myself it's the only option. I noticed also that the other turtles that live in that pond have slowly been disappearing. They all use to come up in groups of 15 or 20 and eat whatever I bought that day. Now I only see a few heads sitting up from the water at the far end of pond and they don't come close so I can't tell if they are the same kind I used to feed. I'm starting to think someone put the res in the pond and maybe they have taken over.
Great way to save money for students! I got my reptile lamp and special UVB bulbs/heat bulbs on Fb marketplace/Craigslist and sometimes you can get a decent used one for ~ $5. #savemoney #FTW 💰🐢
I am getting a Western Painted hatchling for my daughter! We are going to do a tub like this for it. Do you recommend putting something on the top so they don't get out when they get bigger?
When they get bigger, by the time they're large enough to climb out it would be time to upgrade tubs! Btw, I highly recommend from home Depot their 27gal black storage tubs (the ones with the yellow lids). They last forever and the black walls cause less stress for the animal! Any more ?'s, just ask ;)
Good day, I have some questions What kind of water do you use? Do I need de lamp if they have natural light? And how many turtles can coexist in the same enclosure?
I use dechlorinated tap water, no lamp needed if they have direct access to sunlight (not through a window), that depends on species and enclosure size!
Mine has got to be the Diamondback Terrapin! Their plethora of colors and variety is astounding, and their personalities cannot be beaten. Dream turtle is the Fly River, or Pig Nosed turtle! Thanks for watching :D
hey, i'm in need of help and i need advice from an expert. today i got a hatchling red eared slider but the seller was soooo arrogant and argued with me over whether turtles needed filters and uv lights (they do!). but my dad believes the seller even though he never ever researched once and i researched for five months, and my dad says fish is poison for turtles and wont allow me to get a uv light or even a filter for him! please help me!!!
I got one for free. I got and cleaned a really really big pot could fit 20 gallons And i just got some rocks and dirt and boiled it, and put it in the pot same with the leaves. I also picked up some dandelions, grass and ferns and i put it in the pot. And i made a cave for the guy. I put my DIY filter using scratch from my backyard.

Love the setup. The babies have grown nicely since last year.

I'm happy to help!!!
Plastic bins are so much cheaper than glass. Now I use them for my shallow fish tanks.

They also need a cuddle bone in their tanks too.
Correct! It's a nice extra source of calcium, not required but definitely good to have!
What kind of food do you feed them? I have hatchlings also, but I have to break up their food because they are too small.

With plenty of plants yes!

Get a filter and light anyway, easier to ask for forgiveness than permission 🤣
@@DanTheTurtleMan_ true thooooo! okay, i'll get one secretly anyway 🤫
They need the uvb bulb
Yes, they do!
How much gallons are those tubs?
Not sure! Can't be more than 20?
I have a hatchling red ear slider. I bought a 20 dollar tank. Is that ok?
Price does not matter, size of the tank does!
@@DanTheTurtleMan_ I meant a 20 gallon tank. I filled it all the way to the top. Is that ok?
