I love this movie! This is when movies had a meaning and were compassionate and wholesome! How I miss the old actors and actresses that had so many talents.
One of my favorite movies and when I see it, it's about the only time I wish I had children. Red gave up music and went to work as a steel worker to pay for his daughter's treatment of Polio. Wish Red's comeback had been more successful, but time passed him by, but it was worth it to him because of his daughter...That's love.
Just got the soundtrack to The Five Pennies today. I wanted to get a copy of it on CD, while CDs are still in existence! Susan Gordon was wonderful in this film.

A couple years later I remember standing in line to get the polio vaccine. We nearly have polio stamped out now. Not many people remember who devastating that disease can be.

Only recently did I read that Miss Susan Gordon passed away in late 2011 from thyroid cancer. I had the experience of meeting her around 2010. In memoriam: 1949-2011.

Thi is one of the first movies I worked on a restoration of(the soundtrack) when I was first working at Paramount. So great to see again.
That little girl who plays young Dorothy was a lucky little kid to be able to work with Danny Kaye and Satch!

Long time ago The Five Pennies could be watched on RUclips. That's how I saw it. Too bad nowadays you have to pay to see good old movies.
Saw this movie in high school with my best friend.
