We have had "darkling beetles in our house ever since we first thought we had bedbugs. I finally sent them in to the State entomologist who identified them. They are about the same size as bed bugs, but look VERY different. We had a 3000 dollar heat treatment that I think was unnecessary because this was before I knew what bed bugs looked like. I'm not blaming the company that did this treatment because I complained of bed bug bites. They really LOOKED like bites! I went to a dermatologist who said he had a lot of experience with bed bugs, having worked in SE Asia and the military. He said that I ABSOLUTELY had eczema! I am now treating the eczema and it looks like most the appearances of bed bug bites are going away. I will follow this up. But I have seen many darkling beetles around the house and I know for sure they do not feed on humans. Sanjosemike (no longer in CA)
Hi Mike, thanks for sharing and sorry to hear about your experience. Hope you were able to treat the eczema and get rid of the darkling beetles. If you haven't done so already, removing potential food sources for these beetles may help reduce their population around your house.
I have been having bumps appear after waking up but so far haven’t seen a bed bug. I did find a dead super tiny bug that’s brown near my sofa but I can’t tell what it is. even zoomed in on my phone it’s too small to tell for sure other than it’s brown and the end does look reddish. Ugh! Watching this video I suppose it could be spider beetle but it doesn’t look as round.

Great video for those wanting to study bed bugs.
