I use mostly Lion Brand pound of love. Another fave is Mary Maxim best value yarn, super soft, great selection of colors and a lot of yardage in each skein. I love to make a baby blanket for people.
I was directed to this video when I googled "what is the best yarn for baby blanket". Frankly, this was a waste of time. I use acrylic only for cats and dogs blankets. It would never occur to me to use synthetic crap for tiny babies whose skin can be irritated by almost anything, including perfectly normal wool. The problem with baby wool is that it's often tiny yarn for very small hooks and you use a lot of it, so finding perfect yarn - which is NATURAL, soft and warm and not sewing thread sized - is not too easy. But heavens, not acrylic! I get the point about it being machine washable/without any plastic strands to swallow etc, AND not wasting too expensive yarn for it - yes, I agree - yet it doesn't have to be your average cheapo crap from a market stall. There is good use for that too, but not for babies.
use only warmer darker colors for baby or any blanket project since this is a winterworn item. "baby blanket yarn" that is labeled that way is always the cooler lighter colors to avoid. these colors do not absorb heat as well as the warmer darker colors can which is best for making blankets.
Caron Simply soft. I have made many baby blankets with them. My 14 year old son's baby blanket looks as good as the day I finished it. There is no fading or pilling. It did stretch a little over time so it kind of grew with my son a little bit. I only caution that for say if someone were to make an adult fitted sweater or something that they plan to wear regularly for years. One of the best features by far though is that it is as soft after washing as on the skein. I can't say that about most yarns (if not all others) I've used.
Caron brand is probably my favorite yarn of all time I do love the redhead soft yarn as well but seriously anything Caron makes I just love ❤️
I use Bernat baby yarn when making a baby blanket. It is incredibly soft. It comes in a variety of great colors. Thanks for the tips!
Hobby Lobby's "I Love This Yarn" is my favorite for all things 'Baby' & other crochet wearables
Gina Bivens I totally agree, I love that yarn!!!
I was just wondering if it was ok to use that brand of yarn for baby wearables.... thanks

I love using bernat for baby stuff
Loved Red Heart Baby Clouds, so soft and great colors. Now I find it is discontinued, and need to find similar.
What about Bernat yarn?Thank you, Judy
Love Vanna's Choice by Lion Brand. All colors easy to match ..washes and dries well..and best of all a portion of the cost is donated to ST Judes.
Where can I find yarn just like the blue green and purple in this video

Is there a baby yarn that is a fingering weight or similar (like 24 to 26 Knit stitches per four inch square) that has colors other than pastels?
A coworker recommended spraying baby items with staingaurd. Do you recommend that?
I don't. I was reading some stain guard can and the stuff didn't look like something you'd want a baby to swallow in case they chew on their blanket.
@@winterrain1947 that's kind of what I wondered.
Is there any name for yarn which is soft?
