Amanda, lo love your choices. Patons Canadiana is an unsung hero. Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn is hard to beat. Another one I love is Vannas Choice. It is soft, washable and holds it shape so beautifully
Thank you for sharing this info. I just been crocheting for about six months and have used Red Heart Soft and I Love This yard. Caron simply soft is my favorite.
To be honest, I try and buy cakes with the yarn end already sticking out. It’s a little more helpful to me. However, I usually have to dig in the skein to find and pull out the end lol
Hi Amanda thank you for sharing this info. "I love this yarn" is my favorite I've only been crocheting for a little over a year. Can't wait to try the IVTY cotton. 🌹
Hello, in each of my pattern tutorials, I tell you how many stitches are needed to make a baby blanket. I also leave a link to that pattern in the description box below the video. Typically baby blankets are around 100-130 chains depending on the size needed.
I would use acrylic yarns for both. Some brands I recommend are Red Heart Soft, Red Heart with Love, Hobby Lobby I Love This Yarn, and Caron Simply Soft. Happy crocheting!
I just started to crochet again and I have made several baby blankets. I love the finished products but I am disappointed after I machine wash and dry which I do before I gift them. I have used several manufacturers and they all seem to pill. Any suggestions?
I would maybe try using the gentle cycle of your machine and lay flat to dry. You could also try using a garment bag as well. I know a lot of people hand wash their items, so maybe that’s another option. Some yarns are anti pilling so you could always stick with those brands as well. I hope that helps!
Unfortunately acrylic tends to be that way unless you go for a premium acrylic, but I like an acrylic cotton mix as the cotton helps hold it shape, and the acrylic gives the yarn lightness and quicker to dry

All great yarns 😊🧶
I've made many baby blankets with this yarn; my preference! The off white makes up in beautiful tone.
It is very pretty, that’s for sure!
Which brand are you referring to?
I think the little splashes of colors in cakes just make the blankets look uniquely handmade.
Agreed!
