    when i saw the leaks of the items i genuinely thought they had collaborated with a CC creator on the pool kit (specifically SIXAMcc, the swatches look a lot like the ones they use lol) but the fact that EA did this kit in-house is really impressive to me, they must have hired some new designers or something because the items are really beautiful

      You can use Carl's Dine Out mod. James Turner did a lets play with it and review. It helps

    • @DoveJS
      @DoveJS 4 месяца назад +9

      You should check out Carl's Dine Out mod if you're on PC. I'm not sure if he's updated it recently or if the most recent patch has changed anything, so keep that in mind, but he is consistently working on improving the player options and fixing the bugs! He releases each new version for free after a certain amount of time; his patreons just get it faster and help test it out.
      Also, I'd recommend recycling the localthumbcache package in the Sims 4 folder (good habit to do this especially after any Sims 4 updates) and trying it out with a new save to see if this improves the issues you've been having. I'd also ensure you're using a build that was done with game play in mind, so plenty of room for routing just to be safe, and unfortunately no distractions from other packs would probably be a good idea, so no fun activities unless you lock them up in a faux apartment on the lot.

    • @confusedtissue9119

    • @GirlOfTheTardis
      @GirlOfTheTardis 4 месяца назад +4

      Not everybody reports issues with it. Personally I find dine out works perfectly, I think a lot of people haven't tried using it for a long time so don't realise it now works

    • @DoveJS
      @DoveJS 4 месяца назад +1

      @@GirlOfTheTardis So, this isn't me needling you because I found that it works for me the few times I've visited a restaurant in the recent past but I also haven't played Sims 4 in a while and usually I switch to a new save after a year or so (in the process of saving specific families from some of my older saves to migrate them to a new one but since I haven't been playing much, I have to update them for any removed CC, and EA keeps releasing new packs/updates I'm not in a rush to migrate to that new save.) I say all this because I know one of the biggest problems is that older saves can't get all of the bug fixes, sometimes it's new save only, and I suspect having a lot of packs tends to cause the most problems since Maxis never tests the new ones with the old ones (they literally aren't allowed to and simply have to remember things.) I have most packs up until Werewolves I think (I wanted to get that pack so badly but money got tight and has been ever since.)
      But anyway, I'm curious. How many packs do you tend to use with Dine Out or own altogether? Do you run the restaurant or do you just visit it with your Sim families? Do you play in legacy saves, do you use Save As a lot, or do you tend to have completely new saves that you play in? Also, do you regularly recycle the localthumbcache package? Do you have very few issues with simulation lag? Just trying to get some info. :)

    I think the thought process of "is it okay to make a kit that works better with other paid DLC?" is funny because if they had made content that didn't mix well with other packs it would be criticised for being too niche and not well rounded etc like Batuu. I think the Bistro Kit looks fantastic and it's probably a great thing it can work well with just the base game or work well with Dine out or the Cafes from Get Together. I think people just love to pick when the team finally pull out something good. The real issue is them not fixing dine out. not them making a kit that could work well with multiple things

    I am so excited about the bistro pack because it's basically impossible rn to build houses and even most community lot types the way they are in argentina, and this bistro pack looks like every single old café here and I love that (they do in fact post a lot of old advertisements and signs in the walls as decor). This is the first time I think I can build something that looks like the places I'm in every day. The arched metal thing in the doors for example is so incredibly common in Buenos Aires in Rosario and it's there in Neuquén too but less so because it's a younger city (idk about the rest of the country, but probably)

    I think the bistro kit is a good example of how they really painted themselves into a corner with locking core gameplay features like community lots/restaurants to one pack. They basically can’t add any new restaurant stuff because making it playable without Dine Out would make Dine Out (somewhat) obsolete. They’re making it work with having it just be a kit with few items and limited functionality, so just barely eeking by without making anyone mad. It makes a lot of sense Project Renee is going to have core features added to base game with pack content building on top of that… because they REALLY limited Sims 4’s growth opportunities with this model

    I really like the items in those kits, you're right, they're really nice.
    About reciving them differently... well ig they could always be expanded opon and made into a normal pack or EA could remember that they promised us to refrash old packs. Some of this stuff could totally been added into refreshed packs

    The pool stuff actually looks nice. I do wish you could interact with the waterfalls in some way like playing with them or something. I love Art Deco/Art Nouveau though since it's mostly for a restaurant/cafe and Dine Out is still broken for me (my Sims just never get their food) I might need to wait on it. It might pair with Realm of Magic stuff

    I hope the bistro kit is a sign that we'll get a France inspired world. Season 2 of Interview with the Vampire is set in Paris. The doors and kit remind me so much of the cafe scene in episode 3! The kit is so aesthetically pleasing. If there was a France inspired world, a historic cathedral wedding venue and studio/loft apartments in a metro area would be cute

    I rarely buy kits because they never go on sale (and I can understand why, since they're only $5, but since we have so many kits at this point I don't think it would hurt EA to make kit bundles, sell 3 kits together for $12.99 or something). Anyhoo, these two kits look really nice as far as kits go.

    the only thing about these kits recently is that they’re really cool and pretty but i don’t understand why the ideas are being wasted on kits rather than stuff packs and/or expansion packs. like they’re more affordable for us which is great but at the same time i feel like they’re coming up with great concepts and selling them as kits because they can’t be bothered coming up with gameplay for an actual pack. i feel this about the castle kit more than any other actually, a medieval expansion pack would’ve been so good but no it was just a kit with like 12 items

    if the bistro kit was a stuff pack that allowed you to create a bar/cafe lot (both at once) that would be so much better. imagine the speakeasies we'd make.

  • @heklalinya

    In my opinion the bistro kit being so heavily connected (for the lack of better word) to dine out is completely fine. Not every pack, or kit for that matter, is supposed to be for everyone. And since dine out (and/or cafes) came out so long ago, there's a higher chance that people already own them and have played with them so much that it's nice to have new stuff you can easily use with those packs. I feel like if you see this kit and think "oh this is so cool but I wish I could build a restaurant/cafe with it" you're better off with just getting those packs, even if they're more expensive initially, but if you really enjoy that gameplay I think it's worth it.
    (Idk if that made any sense lol, I don't meant to sound rude, just some thoughts I got)

      actually I'm so tired of people who don't have all the packs complaining that they don't have the packs, and they want to have packs released especially for them who has no packs, but anyways they won't buy anything so what the purpose? and same with builds all the time everyone is doing limited pack builds for those who doesn't have anything
      but what about people who has every pack? who spent over $1k on this game and want to enjoy the new packs which work well with old packs
