Of course I’ve decided to comment on an older video, but I’ve recently discovered your channel and I’ve been loving going along the rides with you. Thank you for this!
Our train got delayed 5 hours then cancelled at midnight but we got to go to the lounge. We then got on another railjet in 1st class the next day and I liked it. The restaraunt car was really good.@@NonstopEurotrip
13:54 Hope the new base high speed tunnel will be ready soon... ... as well as the new line between Klagefurt and Graz. 🙂 Thank you for your efforts to explain everything.
With regards to the Semmering base tunnel we must remain patient as it won't open until 2030 and maybe even later. The Carinthian section of the Koralmbahn is finally partly open and the Styrian section is going to open at the end of 2025, so the countdown is ticking. I'm really psyched about it. 😊
According to a TV program I watched the last weekend, the Semmering Pass was the last part of the connection between Vienna and Trieste (Italy). Austro-Hungarian Empire times, you know
Great and very well made video! In my opinion, Raijlet is currently one of the best trains in Europe! And as for the layout, I prefer the ÖBB Railjet, but the ČD railjet has better service :-)
Fantastic trip, well I'd mentioned the semmering part in a comment on your other video and here it is. An amazing bit of remeniscence to 2 years ago when last I was over there. Our family has close ties to Payerbach which you passed through just after Gloggnitz, It's where the train doubles back on itself to the other side of the valley. OBB are so much better than the paltray offerings we have over here, I think their standard class is better than our First tbh. It's also very cheap to travel in a group as you can purchase a multiple ticket, we did it going on a day trip to Vienna for example and you're not restricted like a family ticket or by ages, it's literally buy for as many people as you want and get a cheaper rate. Anyway thanks again for putting this up so I could breifly be reminded of happy times travelling in Austria.
Congratulations on a well presented trip report ,last time I was in Europe 2005 I traveled by Bus now i wish I'd traveled by train .love the set up of the Rail Jet and the colors thank you for sharing from New Zealand.
As a tourist I'd prefer slower and scenic Semmeringpass than faster tunnel with black windows. Love to travel with trains at Alps and Railjet is The One to do it. :) Just one (and huge) negative thing with Railjet is its difficulties with bicycles. Several times had to pass this train because "You can not bring Your bicycle". Once even in empty train had to "fight" with conducter because I had brought my road bike in. Literally empty carriage; just one passenger with me and bike was hanging where it should be, alone. And had bought normal ticket for bike, without reservation. It was crazy situation! Regulations are regulations and You can't negotiate! :/ Finally he gave up and I got where I was going.. threated to kick me out at next station!
Villach is my family's homebase, although I'm second gen german - still love to get back there, hope you had a great stay, it's such a traditional rail hub and railworkers town :)
Very nice video! I would like to visit Villach one day. Some news about the Railjets: ČD currently have only 7 sets but there will be 10 new sets for a domestic route Praha - Cheb via Plzeň/Ústí, starting to operate throughout the 2021 and the interior of these will be from Škoda. They are being tested at Velim currently. ÖBB's already fantastic Railjets will be even better - the new ones currently built will have good old compartment coaches and completely overhauled 2nd class seats and they will start to operate throughout 2023. :)
@@PeteBrandy AFAIK Taurus locos are no longer produced, were replaced by Vectrons and the control cars were not required for these lines. The carriages themselves will be more or less the same (pressure sensitive, super quiet) but with Czech interior perks (e.g. Borcad seats, USB sockets). I'm looking forward for the comparison.
@@jmsmilfajt Yes, I know that Taurus are no longer produced (but railjets also works with Vectron locos). And I think these new cars will be hauled mainly by a 362 locos.. (before CD will buy a new locos).. But I'm looking forward to the new cars, I travel on Krušnohor trains very often :-)
LOL, instantly I know one of the better ways to get to the Red Bull Ring! I was planning to come to the consecutive weekend races in Austria, France, and the U.K., in 2018, but life sent me to a different continent instead.
You are very underrated man... My suggestion for u to stand apart from the rest of the trip report channels is to travel the lesser travelled routes and operators if its possible
Very nice trip report on the obb rail jet to villach the train looks very nice in business and first class and I was surprised to see standard class so packed but at least rail riders hip increased for that short time in the summer and I like the forest mountain scenery aswell 😊
@@NonstopEurotrip it could also be that many people cannot afford first class and for families in particular there may be cheaper deals in standard class
Best daytime train in Europe travelled on it from Zurich to Innsbruck in first . Smooth comfortable ride . Sets the standard for other railways to follow for style and comfort.
Great video as always, thanks. It's always interesting to compare mainland European inter-city services with those in the UK. I have to say that, by and large, my experience has nearly always been better in mainland Europe - more comfortable trains, usually cheaper fares (unless you book well in advance in the UK) and the catering services are now generally superior in my opinion.
I love the Railjet Business Class. I'm not a friend of large groups of people around me on the train so the 3 or 4 seaters of the busines class is more up my ally than 1st clas and there is so much leg room. German Rail could learn a lot from Railjet seat configurations.
Great video, thanks a lot for that. The Austrian product is much better than the German IC. Especially its livery is in comparison to the German equivalent much more spectacular. I like these Railjets and hope these destination will be build up in Germany by ÖBB as well. Greetings from Germany
A very informative video, thank you! Have you ever taken the OBB railjet from Vienna to Venice? What side of the train (or which seats) would you suggest booking to get the best scenic views, especially that amazing visual of the Semmering Pass at 15:15?
Hi ! Loved this video. Great information for those of us who are traveling.. I have some questions. Its quit confusing but, the business class in the train is higher leveled from the First class ? And also, are small kids allowed to be seated in the first and business classes ? Do they pay ? (2yro and 3mo...)
Business class on European trains is higher than first class. And you have to pay the supplement on a first class ticket to upgrade. Honestly I'm not sure if young kids are allowed in business class, as it's meant for working, but they are allowed in first class.
Hello! I'm Brazilian and I'm going to take a train trip for the first time. I bought the Vienna x Venice Sta Lucia first class ticket. Does this first class ticket entitle you to use the OBB Lounge at Vienna Station as you showed in the video? Thank you very much!
@@NonstopEurotripThanks for the answer! Is it enough to show the printed ticket to enter the OBB Lounge? My train leaves at 6:18AM, would you know what time the Lounge opens? Thank you very much!!
