I was born in Kamchatka, It's a beautiful place. The history, culture, and geography is rich, and people lovely. It will always have my heart! Thank you for documenting it.
And this dude has had all kinds of adventures he never filmed. A life well lived! A true planet belonger. Travel like this always sows wisdom and less prejudice. Great shows. Thanks. From Canada.
Absolutely love David Adams work, he never degrades his host country and always teaches us a little more about our planet. Never heard of this place till now.
Excellent visit to people living on the ragged edge; declining in numbers, yet rich in spirit and tenacity. May they not only survive, but prosper as well.
Amazing! Absent the snow, if you had told me this was filmed in the Navajo nation I would have believed it. David's documentaries are so eye opening and wildly educational. I've been binging on them all weekend.
Very good documentary. I visited Kamchatka in 2000 and enjoyed that trip very much. I met many new friends and everyone was very friendly toward me. I tested out some of my Navajo Native Words on a senior citizen in Esso however failed to hear any words that were similar. I found some fresh watermelons for in PK at the local public market center. They were rather expensive however I wanted my friends and some of the children to taste their first one. So everyone really enjoyed them and it was a special event. I am still good friends with some of the people I met on that trip. I really am thankful that I was able to visit Kamchatka it is such a unique place to visit. Thank you for sharing your video from me over here at Roswell NM USA..
Might have better luck in central Siberia where the Ket tribe live, if you could get there (aside from current politics it is one of the most remote places in Siberia). They are the last speakers of Yeniseian languages (the Siberian branch of the Dene-Yeniseian language family to which Navajo belongs).
The man singing at the end of the video is the same song my father would sing to me when I was a boy, and I am Polish, this was very emotional to me, keep up with these wonderful videos.
I am forever grateful for your documentary informing me of the existence of the Edelman tribe in particular. There is much more here than is seen; efforts in Russia and in North America indicate these last surviving tribes must have something to be greatly feared by those who would control others. Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. I always enjoy your films.
What a wonderful series you have put together. Can't praise you enough, I feel like a world traveler.Georgia, the Kush what marvels!!! THANKYOU all so much.
David Adams and the Camera Crew are to be commended and recognized as Outstanding Photo Journalists with their Video Production Skills. They put all the necessary passports in order and worked out the details of guides and contacts to produce make this complicated Documentary a reality. He was willing to eat Raw Meat to be a good Guest and Honor the Hospitality of the Native Siberian People. The Narration was excellent and helped to add value to this production.
Kamchatka now has a thriving tourist industry. It's been my most wanted destination for around 20 years. Many Russians who cannot fly outside of the country due to the pandemic have been flying from Vladivostok to Kamchatka instead. The nuclear testing wasn't cool, but we also did the same in other parts of the world displacing thousands from their islands forever.
Great video! I always learn many things from Mr. Adams' documentaries. He has a "Never Quit" attitude and is full of adventure. And after watching each episode, I feel I've gained a much better understanding and appreciation of all the wonderful people and places this beautiful planet has to see. Thank you! 😊🙏🏻💖😌👍
As a Canadian who regularly sees -30c up to even -50 without windchill and plenty of snow. I'm kinda jealous of a tank ride lol, as a big fan of anything with a motor this is awesome
For those of you who are interested how Kamchatka is living today (20 years after this documentary was made) you can search on RUclips "Dud Kamchatka". It's a documentary made by popular Russian presenter. Film is in Russian, but there are english subtitles available. David Adams tries to find aboriginal tribes of Kamchatka which are on the verge of extinction and highlights his narrative on their life. This is a very interesting approach and reminds films of Werner Herzog in this sense. However, this group is too small to make assumptions about the whole region based on their life. So, if you're interested in another perspective on the subject, this Russian documentary discusses the living of the majority of people on the peninsula and the role of the Kamchatka peninsula itself in the modern day Russia. Moreover, part of this video shows Russians surfing in Kamchatka. Being an Aussie, David Adams would appreciated them. :)
it's been an almost a snowless start to winter here, Central Alberta, so it is nice to see knee-deep snow. I miss the varied beauty that snowfalls bring but i am glad for this programming. This dude is like David Attenborough if David was also an athlete-outdoorsman
I was an officer on a US Coast guard cutter that had a 3 day liberty call in Petropavlosk back in the mid-90's. Fascinating place and warm and friendly people.
I’d so love to see the Kamchatka Peninsula, Petropavlov, the old Cold War town, then Primorsky Krai around Vladivostok, the Primorsky temperate rainforests, etc.
I visited Kamchatka in 1999 and found it very interesting and met many fine people there some that have shared friendship with for over 20 years now. We hiked up to the waterfall and it was ice cold and refreshing to drink the water there. I sure have enjoyed your videos.
Yeah! and how many cameramen do they have to have for that take? at least two, one in the top and other bellow. The amount of production for that take is amazing. They need at least two days for filming.
Great exploration educational doccu. I can agree with you about Russian Indians n American Indian relationship. Sir your narration is surely paramount impressive. Thank you
It was like watching Thriller. Snow Serfing was greatest of all, what I saw till date. War Whehicals were Amusing n funny n of great use. Excellent Documentary. Love from India. 🙏

So you must be like our American Indians. Look Mongolian? I am part Mongolian from my Cossack grandma.
What was life like there growing up for you? I’ve always been interested in it but there’s not much information about it out there

Moscow must be destroyed! Kamchatka is China!

Just discovered David. He’s so gracious and respectful to the people he crossed paths with.

It's a trip to the gulag now. Glad you did this a few years ago
One of the best documentarist ever...
David is a true scholar and gentleman.
Thank you for taking me on another journey.
I'd be a real shame if these pockets of ancient cultures faded away completely
Indeed.
the cultured thing is still there except in a different shape- of identity
