I've heard some people complain about AC5's HUD, and now I fully understand after seeing this video. Putting everything on the reticle was such a bizarre design choice.
@@ianenciel thats pretty much my take on the 5th gen UI it tells you everything you need to know in the middle AP, energy and ammo count, enemy AP and range if that matters as well
For me what I found odd in that clip was the game giving a voice warning for energy being depleted. Maybe it was different then, but as an AC6 only player, that sounds like it'd be really annoying with how often it would happen. Also seemed more difficult to see and keep track of things compared to the others thanks to the lighting and motion blur, but that could partially be the person recording playing on a weak machine, because it looked like it might have been running at a lower fps too.
Wow. Coming from an AC6 fan, this franchise really went through some major gameplay changes during its lifetime. I can’t even see any resemblance unit AC4 and even then, it still looks totally different from AC6.
My first AC game was 4, i got it when i was like 12 and it confused the heck out of me, the building the different styles, it was nuts, i basicallygot half-way through it with one of the starter NEXTS. But there was something about it that stuck with me, so around the time gamestop was going to no longer sell ps2 games, i bought 2 &3, 2s controls were waaaaay more complex than i had anticipated, especially not using the joysticks, but it somehow helped me learn how complex AC is, and its building system was alot easier to get behind. So 2 & 3 were what got me really into the series. Eventually i got 5 and vertict day since gamestop was doing a bundle deal with them, and BOY did i became obsessed with them! So when AC6 came out it was like taking a trip down memory lane and i couldn't be more happy with it!
Ac6 reticule snapping to each target perfectly is so satisfying to look at when your zipping all over the place in utter chaos. Feels like it took them 25 years to nail it
They perfected the locked camera with each Dark Souls. It really feels like they used everything they learnt with the Souls series to revamp AC gameplay without feeling it wrong. For me AC4 was a complete downgrade to the whole series and they kept that, AC5 was... a game that exists. AC6 just feels great.
@@laiofurious6433 4 Answer is the best one besides 6.. the graphics are beautiful and you get to fly. The series has always been a 6.5 to 8.5 out of 10 game series but I would give 4A a 9 out of 10. Rubicon gets a 9.5 out of 10 IMO
@baldycornrow Yeah, AC4A felt the most intense, but the absolutely golden part of AC6 is actually getting to pilot like in the old cinematics. It's mind blowing if you've played for a long time, just the way the AC handles, the particle effects, the sound design, AC6 is armored core reaching its peak.
Started with Project Phantasma, skipped Gen 2, played Last Raven, played through Gen 4, skipped 5 Now back for Gen 6. This game was a niche game back then (and will continue to be), but I'm so glad more people are recognizing and giving it the credit it deserved.
It had 150 thousand player at launch on steam, more that a lot of triple AAA titles of the year like Resident Evil 4 and Jedi Survivor. It was also in the upper end of the top 10 of games in PS Store before launch. Losing only to Baldur's Gate 3, COD MWIII and one or two other game. I don't think this is considered niche anymore, it's not Elden Ring or Dark Souls yet but it certainly sold at least a order of magnitude more than the previous titles. This has sold a few million copies for sure.

also despite the controls it's probably one of the most fast paced ps1 games I've ever played once you get a good generator and booster, the only reason gen 1-3 look slow is because gen 4 came immediately after, the pace isn't that different from AC6
I remember seeing comments from souls fans back when AC6 was revealed like: "Why is From spending time making a mech game that nobody will care about? What even is Armored Core?" And: "From is making an awfully decision putting money into this when they could be making Elden Ring 2." The fact that these very same people are now singing the praises of AC6 makes me really happy. _Now if only from adds Panther's theme as some sort of DLC down the line_
Elden Ring, and The Dark Souls series on a whole, has attracted some of the most toxic players. I'm sometimes ashamed even to say I like the games because they can be truly annoying people. Didn't expect any better from them
I did not know previously about the AC franchise and I am having a blast right now with AC VI as a mecha anime fan. I can finally pilot my own Gundam. For me Elden ring was a disappointment. Failed attempt to reboot DS formula.
Currently playing AC6 and I'm really enjoying it. Don't think its my first AC though. I vaguely remember playing a mecha game sometime around 2001-2003(I think the map was a greyish looking beach)
I had a similar experience in 2013 with a friend's PS2. Don't know exactly which armored core game (assuming it was) I just remember the map was a night time level and was accompanied by a few friendly mechs and the objective was to eliminate the enemy occupying it. I just remember that level and having my mech purple lol.
The jump in graphics and smoothness from Verdict Day to 6 is massive. 10 years is a long ass time between 2 games in the same franchise but the soulsborne games took up all of ther resources before Elden Ring.
