I feel like I was blessed to hear this performed live a few years ago, around 1300 people... and sitting just a few rows back.. to this day, his voice is as amazing and I can admit I was in tears listening to it. One of the most powerful voices I've ever heard, and he makes it looks easy.

@@rjjsreactions-rk7zh I will admit, I was in tears. On your other video I mentioend waching Helen Sjöholm but that as a more humoristic performance so while amazing, not as gut wrenching as Tommy.
For Swedes, Tommy was aso in Ronja Rövardotter, so hearing him perform things from that was amazing

Chess was the first musical from Björn and Benny, before Kristina from Duvemåla.
It's losely built on the tournament between Bobby Fischer and a russian chessplayer.
The role as the Russian player was written with Tommy K in mind. He starred in Sweden, against Helen Sjöholm and in London against Elaine Paige. He was meant to star on Broadway as well, but a former drug offence denied him working permit in the US.
Tommy K, is like Tommy J, mainly selftaught as a vocal artist and has for a long time been a leading musical theatre star here in Sweden.
He has been inspirational to Tommy J, who has recorded several of the major Tommy K hits, including Anthem.
Pronounce Kör- like you start saying Chur(ch), with a soft K.
Next I'll request a duet btw Celine Dion and Tommy Körberg, them 2 singing Beauty and the Beast together from a TV performance when Celine visited Sweden. Tommy was the Swedish voice in the Disney movie.
He trolled her a bit, underperforming during the rehearsel, so she really didn't understand what a voice he has and totally surprised her in the actual performance. Makes a fun watch and 2 beautiful voices together.
Tommy K is in his seventies by now and still an excellent chanson singer, semi retired. He still performs with Helen Sjöholm now and then, together with the Benny Andersson Orchestra.
I've seen them perform Chess live together, with Anders Ekborg as the American chessplayer. The female lead works as a personal assistant to the American player so it's a bit of Romeo and Juliet love story, across the borders. In the end the Russian choses to go back to Russia and his family there. Anthem tells about his love for his country.

The power, the thickness of the sound of the violins with the choirs and obviously its interpretation, his tone of voice with his chest. But there was a live version à New York au Carnegie it seems to me. Performed by Josh Groban, even more powerful and epic, with a choir of a hundred singers maybe., but I haven't found it anymore, there are others with Josh but there are not as many choirs and no symphony orchestra.
