Some more facts: Benny and Björn had their own bands for several years before ABBA. Agneta was a singer and song writer doing well on her own too. Frida (Anni-Frid) did a lot of backup singing (if memory serves me). Stig Andersson (a producer) "created" ABBA by combining the 4 talented people working for his company (Polar), and promoting them in a very intelligent way. Benny became the song writer for ABBA, doing vocals and playing the piano. Björn wrote all the lyrics, and sang a few songs and played the guitar. After ABBA split they turned to musicals. Few seam to have registered those facts. It was always Agneta and Frida people talked about. The men are not noticed the same way.

I am from Sweden and I am so proud of Tommy. He played the Russian chess player in the musical Chess in London. I saw his last performance there and he got standing ovation. ❤
Did you know Tommy did a duet with Celine Dion once, he was a little bit ill in the rehersal so he couldn't really sing out. But when it was time for the show he really SANG and shocked Celine with his voice.

Well, that's the same thing that happened when he sang "Stad i ljus" at the 1988 Eurovision Song Contest. I watched that event with my parents and my dad said if this is how he sings when sick, his voice must be formidable when he's fully healthy. (BTW, the winner that year was Celine Dion.)

She clearly didn't know who he was, watch her face when he takes off! It's priceless!
Check out live versions of him singing it. He sounds perhaps even better than this studio version. As he got older his voice deepened and became very rich but still so powerful.

It was Björn and Benny's first musical attempt. Tim Rice was also involved. Tim who's worked together with Andrew Lloyd Webber in many musicals.

Answer.. The original song was written for a Broadway play names Chess, originally done in the 1980s (song Bankcock came from this). The play was brought back to Broadway in early 2000', where Josh Grobin got his start as the main vocal in that play.
The amazing tripple is from 2 years go. Tommy have struggle with his health. Heart problems and covid and stuff. This is from one of his first bigger stuff fter getting better. ❤️

Chess is one of my favourite musicals (Phantom of the Opera being top spot) and almost all songs on it are hits. I really enjoy the song Quartet (A Model of Decorum and Tranquility), can recommend it if you never heard it :)
