Great info. And good point about solid ice blocks instead of bagged ice.
Being one of 7 kids growing up in the 70’s my parents always froze empty milk cartons and soda bottles in the old school Coleman coolers for our road trips. I have the lifetime 55 and now I’m going to pick up this 28 this weekend.
    Good stuff.

I suggest using a padlock with a key rather than a combination padlock because bears are very good at deciphering lock combinations also.

@@lonewolfsurvival3453 Of course. (Actually a black bear broke into a cabin. Instead of going in through the door, it decided to tear a hole through the wall. I don't think they understand much about locks.)

Good choice, we've had a couple lifetime coolers for 2 years and they have been great, if you do a youtube search for lifetime cooler bear proof, there's actually a funny video of a grizzly trying to break into one

My buddy has one, and it's great, he gets 6 day with the PVC ice tubs.
I have the Ozark Trail and it as good as the lifetime. Both are well worth the money..
I think you'll be very happy with yours, my buddy lined his with reflectic and he said, he thinks he'll get 7 day or more now with ice..
I'm looking forward to his test.

I saw a video some time ago on "The Boss of the Swamp" channel, where he lined his cooler with reflectix bubble wrap to give him an extra few days of coolness and he put in a bottle of frozen saltwater, which doesn't melt as fast. That old man is a very clever guy, I tried it in a cheap coleman cooler and it works!

I'm looking forward to seeing where you place it in the van. Will you drape something over it to further insulate it?

They are ok, but not as good as the newer thicker ones today.

It has about 2-3 days of ice retention...works for me I've been to the beach, park, road trips and cooks outs
    Keeps everything very cold

We have a couple of vintage coolers from the early 70's. I miss those days.

My only beef with this cooler seeing as I have one myself. Is the handles on the side are crap. But the big handle does help a ton and it is very good with ice retention.

It's also heavy as hell empty, which I don't care for with my hand disease.

Bear Proof means a bear can't get into your cooler. Bear Resistant means the bear can but it will take some time. But that's a nice cooler anyway. Price beats those expensive Yetis. I've seem to always have problems with drain plugs leaking. With the handle, I would have to say it's Bear Friendly.🤪🐻 Bears are intlligent. They've been known to open car doors.

$88 dollars at Walmart cause it is made in USA with American Labor.
Not some where they pay .22 cents labor per day.
Thats a nice carrier handle for the bears mouth to get it out of your camp site in hurry.. LOL...
