I applied for a UN job. After interview a month later, I was told on September 3rd that I had been retained, but I should immediately respond to the email by Yes or No.
I replied with a Yes and on the 7th, i was asked to submit my p11 form and a copy of my highest diplmas. I did so the same day and since then I haven't heard anything from them and it has been over 3 weeks. I have written them to try to understand why the delay and to know what the next steps would be and got no response whatsoever. It was the UNHCR to ve more precise. Can you shed more light as to what can be the probable halt in communication and how long the delay can take?

Hello and thanks for the video. I work in recruitment for the UN and the point you mention about a Master's degree being required is not correct. If a candidate has a Bachelor's degree, and not a Master's degree, then they would still be able to apply for the job if they have the amount of required experience plus an additional two years. This is mentioned in the Education section of a typical job opening for a Professional position in the UN Secretariat.

I realized their assessments are related to the job that you applied for, and also do thorough general research. Practice reading in the language for Verbal Reasoning test, develop basic arithmetic skills and familiarize yourself with the United Nations Core Values and Competencies Framework.@@matinmalok1738

Yes, this happened to me last year, i was competing with someone who is already internally doing the same role, I received no feedback after Reference check till today.

I have three separate applications for general service positions at the moment in several different agencies within the U.N.. I check my application status on a daily basis. My status is continually "Under Consideration". It's been months. Is there anything I can do to follow up? I am really concerned. I would really like to work with this international organization. The thing is that I am working full time for over 3 years in a position that suits the position that I want to apply for and at the same time im doing my bachelors at the moment. I will finished my bachelors in 3 months. Does that mean that they will kick out my application immediately ?

Hello, this video has been quite informative and it got me thinking....maybe I could get some insight from you on my own experience. Earlier this year I got an invitation to apply for a position with UNOPS which I gladly did, some 5-6weeks after the deadline for application I checked my application status and saw that I was longlisted, the position status then moved to shortlisting and then to Evaluation and has been on that for more than a month. Actually I don't even understand what that means, if the shortlisted candidates have already been contacted and interviewed or not. It is as confusing to me as it is making me anxious because I have been longing to get a role with the UN.
Can you at least explain this part to me if that's possible?

Hello, those levels are actually very senior. They would not be filled by a YPP or JPO, they would be someone with 15 years + experience.

I took on short term consultancies that required less experience than I had 😢
I applied for job in UNDP. The place of posting was in Kawait. It has been mentioned in the email that u will have to pay 280 USD for psychometric mean objective score through cendrov associates Inc.
I didn't reply because I thought it as a scam.
Please tell me is UNDP require such demands?
The UN will never make you pay anything for applications so, yes, this is a scam. Please ignore and report as spam in your email account.

Masters would be a minimum so a PhD meets the requirement.

Don't worry! Just correct it on your next application. I experienced this back in 2017-2018 so they may have evolved their thinking but regardless I like to just make it clean to increase my chances

Are you saying that all of those who did a Master's degree after many years of working will be disqualified, despite how good they are? If so, how did you get the UN job, given that you were also in this situation? Please clarify.
I don’t know for sure, I can only speak from my experience and every agency is different. I think it is mostly a problem if you are quite early in your career, for me I had 5 years of full time experience and 3 years of part time experience (but doing business development in an energy company) + masters and the system virtually discounted all of it - this was the first « cut » by a machine not looked at by people. The post was for someone with 5 years and they said I was counted as someone with 2-3 years. I have only ever successfully received consulting contracts in the UN, never a staff position and that is the case for 90% of the young people I know working in the system.

I just got my master degree by part time, working full time along the way, it is sad to hear that experience will not be counted and my profile will be dumped immediately 😢😢😢
Keep trying though because every agency is different and that was just my personal experience with one!

i just happened to got selected for written test in which i forget to attempt one question of 15 marks out of 100 can you pls tell me what are my chances of getting selected for the interview ??

I can only speak from my experience recruiting but if someone skipped a question I would probably not select them because I am often looking for attention to detail. Hard to say though, if your other answers were amazing you never know.
