  • In this video we cover one of the more polarizing Character within the Resident Evil Franchise. With her one and only major role was in Resident Evil 4, As the United States President's Daughter, Ashley Graham becomes the central figure that catapulted the events that happens inside RE4. With Los Illuminados had their plans to use her as leverage, causing the scramble that led to Leon Kennedy's mission in this rural part of the world known as Valdelobos. As he tries to locate and find Ashley and eventually escape the plaga worshipping cult.
Also in this vide, we cover her original concept development and how that spawn a completely different survival horror game known as Haunting Ground. Where in the early stages of creating Resident Evil 4, Ashley was just known as Girl, where she would have to escape an underground Lab with a Dog Companion.
We also cover in this video the overall gameplay associated with Ashley and how the added dynamic of her character following alongside Leon may become a challenge at times. We also talk about how she ties in with other character within this game which were Jack Krauser and Osmund Saddler. We also cover what her potential story and gameplay will bein the upcoming Resident Evil 4 Remake and what changes they could implement.
Anyways if you guys enjoyed this video then please feel free to like and Subscribe ‪@HeYDeVuH‬ for More Resident Evil videos or upcoming news for RE4 Remake.

I mean she's a 20 year old college student with no military training, no combat experience, no knowledge of BOWs of any kind and now here she is dragged to a crazy village filled with monsters trying to murder her. Freaking out all the time seems pretty normal.

Weak, helpless and panicky is exactly what would be realistically expected. I don't think most people in general would be level-headed and capable in that situation. That was definitely bizarre, and Ashley is hardly to blame. She was spitting up blood and in a panicked state of mind. The fact the trap even existed and that it worked so flawlessly pushes suspension of disbelief a bit too far. The fact they recapture her multiple times isn't remotely surprising. It's their main objective given that she's central to their overarching plans.

As far as escort missions go I find Ashley to be one of the best examples in a game I've seen or played.
She's a blank slate who wont do anything without being told so she never gets herself caught or killed trying to
"help" like many NPCs do in other escort missions. This combined with her quirky personality and comical moments
made me enjoy her as a part of the game even on my first playthrough when the game was a new release.
I honestly have high hopes for how they will build on her role in the remake, there's a lot they could do without changing the dynamic too much.

I never have had issues with Ashley in the original game. It also wasn’t that difficult to keep her alive either. Usually all I did was have her wait near the entrance of an area, kill off all of the enemies in that area and then have follow me right after. I feel like a lot of people were just not being smart with her wait and follow mechanic which lead to people hating her character as a whole. It’s similar to how people hate Sheva’s character as a whole due to her A.I. even though Chris’ A.I. behaves the exact same when you’re not controlling him.

  • @velocilevon
    @velocilevon Год назад +7

I've heard people dissing her AI, which really surprised me after I've completed the game. Either they never played a truly horrible escort mission in a game, or they just played badly and very recklessly. Ashley's AI is actually very smart, she always stays behind you when you shoot, she will duck if she gets in your line of fire, basically, Ashley does everything she needs to do in order to not get in the player's way. She strictly follows your commands, so before going into unknown room, tell her to wait and you'll be fine, she won't do anything on her own. As for when she cowers when an enemy is too close and she also doesn't have a lot of health, well shit, Ashley's a young girl who has been kidnapped for god knows how long and she's surrounded by terrifying monsters (and on top of that she's infected), wtf do you expect her to be and do, zigzag the ganado like Flash or kick him in the nuts and suplex his ass? Yeah, sure. Despite this, moments when she's taken away again and you're left all alone are still satisfying because you feel the freedom of not needing to care for anyone but yourself again. So, not only escorting her isn't much of a hassle, but she also provides a nice slight change in gameplay, and "lone wolf" sections become even better thanks to her.
To sum up: Ashley is a good character and her AI is excellently designed, hatewagon is totally undeserved in my opinion. You may not like her personality, which is fine, but if you have other problems with her, then sorry, it's just your lack of awareness. And maybe skills.

I think if we get segments where we play as Ashley, here’s what I’m thinking:
Like you said, in the forest and the castle she runs and hides from the ganados, but maybe she should at least have some type of weaponry like blunt or bladed weapons like big rocks, tree branches, metal rods or knives to where she can fight back like they did with Berry’s daughter in Revelations 2.

She was kidnapped from Massachusetts in what was likely early autumn, a climate to which her outfit is suited. She would have dressed for a New England September, not Spain in November.

Alright, so I apparently missed this video so I just watched it today while I’m midway through RE4R. That being said: Ashley from RE4 was annoying. Her character acted less like someone in college and more like a child. Her demeanor was inconsistent too. It didn’t feel like there was any development in her relationship with Leon during the tenure of the game. After all of that, if I was Leon? I probably would have declined her “overtime” request too. Don’t want her getting attached. 😂
Ashley in RE4R is a night and day difference. She acts like an adult. In fact, she acts like a scared woman in a situation she can’t understand trying her absolute best, which is who Ashley should have really been. She’s not whiny and rude, but justifiably scared and looking to Leon for support. Their relationship grows closer as the story progresses as it naturally should. I’m really enjoying her more now. Hopefully it stays that way until the ending. If Leon turns down overtime with this Ashley? I’m calling BS; Leon would DEFINITELY smash. 😂

  • @juliobrian4757
    @juliobrian4757 Год назад

Fun Fact: There are specific places in the game where you can safely stash Ashley and clear out the area in the Original Resident Evil 4. Most are "Invincible" hiding spots, where the Ganados (Villagers, Zealots or Army) are unable to get her, like in a Trash Can/ Closable Trash Box. In the Village, you can climb up the tower and ask her to wait at the top. This makes it easy for you to clear out the enemies, as it takes them time to climb up. Also, depending on if they *DID* see her climb up or not (yes, they actually can see Ashley do things), they may or may not go after her up the tower.
Also, her second costume (where she wears a Knight's Armor) makes her impossible to carry off by anyone, as the armor makes her too heavy. Any attempt by the Ganados to take her away usually results in them falling over immediately after picking her up due to the weight.

I hope eventually they can give Ashley more of a physical storyline (fighting wise) because the way they made her so vulnerable and weak was honestly getting annoying 💯. & They should've given her more Independence in the game along with people like Sherry,Jake, ada,Helena etc

Frankly I was never fan of Ashley to begin with the only think I like about her in original resident evil 4 was that she voiced by Carolyn Lawrence who played sandy cheeks in SpongeBob SquarePants series and Cindy vortex in Jimmy neutron boy genius series but must say I love history of Ashley behind the scene DeVuH

I've got PTSD from hearing "LEON HEEEELP!" Not gonna lie, I've killed her several times out of frustration.
I also thought it was really counterintuitive for the Cult to kill her during her escape when their entire plan hinges on Ashley going back home. Sadler also telling Ashley and Leon they had been injected was incredibly stupid when simply shutting up and letting them escape would accomplish their goal.

Love Ashley in re4 .cute, realistic reaction because why the heck you give weapon to girl who also same virus as you,
as agent, why Leon need share 💊without knowingly how much time to suppress or finish the missions before las plaga take over them 100%.
Ashley face is similar to Fiona, clock tower 3 Mc,
    horror sea film title
    the poiseidon adventure.
And let be real, not lot people like play VIP rescue gameplay type because that make not the priority one as hero to gone bullet blazing like some Rambo.
Meanwhile caution types people love this vip escort in whole game, atleast not keep eyes whole day. Ashley reaction is hilarious. Plus the plaga don't treat Ashley as enemy as long she not touch the gun, they can overpowered her easily. Heck the part she strike basically place no lot people around.

My thoughts on Ashley? 🤣 Never in my 35 plus years of gaming have I known a voice and person as irritating and annoying as Ashley, with the new one not far off hopefully I'll care about her, because I've never liked her in the slightest, surely there's nothing on this planet more annoying than her, gosh that girl is a nightmare, her back story is interesting but that's all she's got going for her, sorry but that is my opinion on her, love the vids and time you put into these doco's I really appreciate your hardwork and research you put in to them and I enjoy them alot, take care till the next one 😊👍

Ashley was useless lol but she is pretty. She can't help you in any way unless needing to piggy ride to open some lever or door. That's why the reception of Sheva is so positive in Re5. She fights, she's accurate at aiming and helps you for real

They've made Ashley more like a modern day American feminist girl, and of course, covered up her sexuality with a jacket and stockings, just like they've done with every other female character in a remake, whether it's Resident Evil 2 or Lara Croft, as well as making her look older as they did with Nicole in the remake of Dead Space. I prefer all the original games.

Escorting Ashley is bs, rescuing Ashley (and being able to play the game alone) is bs
    People are stupid
Yeah Leon found her, so now Saddler has to give up on his plan, and not try to abduct her again?
After years of playing RE4 I've never found Ashley annoying
Honestly I find Ellie and the bs AI of the first TLoU, that just totally ignores her even of she runs in front of them, worst than RE4 escort gameplay

It'd be kinda cool in RE4 Remake if Ashley could at least use weapons like Clubs, or Axes that enemies drop, that way she can defend herself when you can't & she isn't completely helpless. 🧏🏿‍♂️
