For a lot of regular people they're prohibitively expensive, meaning TONS of appropriate, worthy lawsuits just don't ever get filed because of it. Europe's system for lawsuits is vastly superior in this way, when it comes to legitimate lawsuits. The way that LegalEagle described it about five minutes into his "John Oliver SLAPP suit" video was that the "American rule" of lawsuits is where the person filing the lawsuit pays for their lawyer whether they win or lose the suit. In contrast, the "British rule" is where the winner of the lawsuit receives their legal fees, effectively as damages, from the person they sued. Jake had me “take” the edfluence course about 6 months before he went live with the site. I told him it was very rudimentary and basic, and that maybe worth $10-$15 to kids. Also told him all the flaws in the videos and to add more to it. His agent had me send him an email with everything to “send to the team” and 6 months later when it went live, nothing changed in it.

Also, many companies who also prey on children have specific policies of not refunding a charge just because a child made it. Merely asking an attorney for their opinion on whether to sue over 64 dollars would cost a lot more than that. The only possibility of legal action would be if someone cared enough to file a class action suit on behalf of everyone that got scammed (which won’t happen because it’s unlikely that anyone lost more than 64 bucks on this, or anywhere near enough to care that much... but then again, hating Jake Paul might be enough to drive someone there).
Aaron Muck I'm absolutely certain some of them have thought about filing, but the problem with lawsuits in the US is that they're expensive as hell even if you win. For a lot of regular people they're prohibitively expensive, meaning TONS of appropriate, worthy lawsuits just don't ever get filed because of it.
Europe's system for lawsuits is vastly superior in this way, when it comes to legitimate lawsuits. The way that LegalEagle described it about five minutes into his "John Oliver SLAPP suit" video was that the "American rule" of lawsuits is where the person filing the lawsuit pays for their lawyer whether they win or lose the suit. In contrast, the "British rule" is where the winner of the lawsuit receives their legal fees, effectively as damages, from the person they sued. So the loser pays the winner's legal fees with the British rule.

Jake had me “take” the edfluence course about 6 months before he went live with the site. I told him it was very rudimentary and basic, and that maybe worth $10-$15 to kids. Also told him all the flaws in the videos and to add more to it. His agent had me send him an email with everything to “send to the team” and 6 months later when it went live, nothing changed in it.
