The most common thing I do is aggressive Ultimate. I coordinate with my friends, activate Ult and join push. I throw the drone every 5 seconds to tell the team if there are teams around etc... this wins us 3 out of 5 games usually. But everything I know I owe to you for your teachings master.
In my time playing Crypto I discovered that the EMP inflicts the maximum possible damage on an enemy team exactly as they are pushing your team. So many times I got an extremely aggressive enemy team cracking my teammates and aping only to get hit by a close range EMP right before they reach us and suddenly they are stunned in the open and beames instantly. So satisfying to wipe squads this way
Being a Crypto main since season 8, the best advice I can give to newer Crypto mains- especially with his new kit/upgrade changes- take advantage of those drone scans for intel tracking pre and post rotations. Always use EMP to slow down a nearby squad or third party. Its most effective to communicate whether to push or reset after EMP. The drone can essentially be a security camera, so always utilize his drone without camping within it. Its a big learning curve, so just keep watching this dudes videos because he's THE Crypto main. 💪
Crypto drone can be a corner check or distraction when pushing When you have many angles to push a team or person hiding behind a cover throw a drone before yourself or to the other side, they might cancel their heal to shoot it or thought you were pushing at that side and you get to know if they have teammates close by too with the scan so you can decide to not push(this works a lot better when you upgrade perk that reduce drone cd) the same tip people might forget is that throwing drone at a wall will automatically turn its face out of the wall(25m tactical range) to scan like a surveillance camera so you don't have to always hold tactical to pilot it
One of the things I love to do, when I have the opportunity, of course, is when another team puts up a respawn beacon and they start to revive, so I put on my ultimate, and click on revive with the drone, then I steal the respawn beacon
Good tip I found is if you’re playing end game on a map like broken moon or stormpoint (not sure if that’s the actual name) and you’re running from zone in one of those tunnels throw your drone into the roof of a tunnel. If another team rotates through that tunnel behind you with zone on their ass your emp can slow them and maybe kill them. I’ve had a few games where I’ve squad wiped doing that
It seems obvious to experienced cryptos but my #1 tip is getting good at throwing or flying your drone behind teams. I learned crypto playing arenas and it was basically if you could get your drone on the other side of the enemy team you won. When you have 3 people shooting at you from one direction most people aren’t going to look behind them for a drone.
Using the timing of tip #1, You can control how far you throw the drone. Normally you throw it 4m when piloting and about 17-20m when just throwing it. If you short press tactical then long press, you will throw the drone 4m without entering it, basically putting it right in front on you. If you long press then short press, you will throw the drone the 17m or so instead of 4m while still entering it. Not something I use all the time but occasionally usefull. More so the long throw while entering for faster piloted EMPs.

@ 26:14 an ingenious play the alter could have made is to call out that you were crypto and tell her team to take the portal she shoot to the roof as soon as the emp is about to go off. Pretty sure the travel time up and the few seconds of fazing would make them invulnerable to the stun and shield loss, then they could’ve capitalized on the stun on your teammates at the same time. The potential for this legend is actually crazy.
I’ve been using the new passive to know when we are good to third. If it’s 3 teams we let them 3rd and we fourth party. Also an emp tip that has worked for me is to fly past the enemy team and turn back around when triggering emp. Works for two reasons. You can look back at your team to make sure you are just out of the radius and two the enemy has a decision to make. Shooting the drone means they have to turn their back to us
This summed it up pretty well , I hop from legend to legend I still kind of do I can play majority of the legends really well even tho I have only been playing maybe 2 months and once I unlocked crypto I stuck with him he fits my play style really well I can check if squads are near helps me plan ahead and get the drop , using his ult to cancel and bust there shields and push. Honestly been playin Crypto sinke his release in season 3 and the improvements made over all this time have made him S tier! it’s been a rough few years but all tips u gave were A1 the only other tip i have is don’t be afraid to just throw the drown upwards to pikk up and be ready for a rush (situational depending upon wht rank your in in higher lobbies this is mukh harder to pull with opponents having laser aim on a blade of grass flowing in the wind lol)
1 more tip! Since your drone can't see through Bangalore smoke, put your drone on the ground inside the Bangalore smoke, there's normally a really small layer of clearness between the smoke and the ground and the drone can go down there that low and about 80 percent of the time it'll highlight people up and you can shoot them while they're in the smoke!
If you are playing with friends there is so much value in trying to observe other teams macro when there is nothing else going on. If nobody is near us or we are holding a safe spot, I call it “going gameboy mode” and start looking for the positions of as many teams as I can
My tip is throw out your drone and run away, loot, while watching the banners. If it shows 0 enemies nearby then when or do run into a team you know the enemy is going to be either in front of you or off to your left or right. This means you don’t have to worry about a team coming up behind you. Now if your fight is taking long then the chances of someone coming up behind your increase. Always point your drone down after emp. Try and wait till your in a gun fight before using your emp. Taking some damage is good so you can use the heal/drone/emp combo.
Read a comment on the latest xJayami video, some guy said that because of Hackathon it's apparently viable to just throw your drone into someone's face and when they shoot it down you get the speedboost and then you unload everything at their face while they reload, haven't tried it yet but I can see it working.
Yeah throwing up your drone is a great way to use it. Usually any time I’m turning the corner to fight enemies, I throw my drone first, so it can do quick scans on the enemies, and then it will force them to focus on the drone to shoot it out and then I am able to push around the corner when they are focused on the drone and take them out. Or if they don’t shoot the drone and still focus on me, my drone gets to scan the enemies for free
On final ring, place the drone inconspicuously inside ring. Ideally after you emp. The drone is red and so is ring. Increases your chances of keeping it up for final fight and most teams aren’t going to turn around to look in ring especially if you’re keeping pressure. I always have pings in final ring close 💯 (works really good with 25% perk cause you can have it far af)

Passive play style tip: Crypto should always be jump master. Drop at a decent lowkey poi that has a survey beacon and more survey beacons in rotating area. Ideally you get one to two squads on drop so you get your early game KP, get your evos up, then rotate passively using survey beacon data to put yourself in best position for end game. Top 5 every time as long as you win your fight on drop. Always have an ult accel as mentioned in the video. Also in final ring put drone in the ring. It’s red for enemies so it makes it harder to see.

For any new crypto mains entering 1 on 1 fights spawn your drone before your in the enemy line of sight they will shoot the drone giving you easy shots on them
the information crypto provides by just throwing drone to tell the number of nearby squads is so useful it is the best quick recon ability now when compared to vantage scope(need LOS), seer scan(need to spin around), bloodhound scan(got cooldown) cuz knowing there's existing squad(in 200m range) gives you better choice on whether to start a team fight or not this is not including all other usefulness on crypto abilities
I'm just gonna say thank you for the tips in this video. I was a crypto main before the rework and then the rework happened and adapting to the new style was a bit difficult I always threw drone out to see if anyone was near like I'm suppose to but i wasn't aggressive enough and played it safe in the back like a mole rat. And today I decided to think about picking up apex again (i still hate it because im a titanfall fan for life) because my girlfriend plays it like a demon and i think grandmasters for a couple of seasons. So against my hatred for the game i wanna spend time with her and not play like the old way because one it's for my sake of wanting to be better with my main and know what I'm doing and for the second reason not making my girlfriend feel like she's carrying me in this game even if i do need it😅 (also crypto is an absolute badass making me feel like Aiden pearce from Watch Dogs) so truly though thanks for the tips and now it's up to me to practice and not sell my teams bag
good tips for crypto. appreciate it. that said with how the current ranked system is letting you play so far below your rank, the lobbies are really easy and people have to be careful as a lot of stuff they aren't going to be able to get away with some of the plays at higher ranks. not your fault, just what ranked is now.
Lol yeah that’s usually how it is with new seasons. I’ve played crypto in all ranks (besides pred cause I usually hit diamond or masters and stop). But he’s viable in higher lobbies as well, just gotta play smarter

Biggest tip to those learning to heal, batt, ult accel, etc.... while using the drone. You can not do it while the drone is already out. I made this mistake in the beginning and kept wondering why it wouldn't work for me. You can only do this as you're throwing the drone out.

Just stuns them, won’t destroy friendly caustic traps or Wattson fences, but I think it might destroy friendly rampart shields? I can’t remember off the top of my head lol
During fights don’t be scared to toss the drone out above you while you’re trading. Just recall it quickly and throw it out again. Enemies get flustered when they get scanned and are caught off guard when you throw it out and recall it back constantly

Alter and crypto are a nasty combo. You can push teammates inside buildings using alters tactical, and you can time it with the EMP so you can push in the building and avoid the stun from the EMP by using alters tactical and then you can be right in the face of the enemy. So running a Alter, Crypto, and maybe a support legend would be a nice combo (Lifeline, Newcastle, Conduit)
For some reason, I thought Crypto was just a lame character before, until I saw your videos. I'm trying to improve with him right now and this season's buff is so good
Yeah people view crypto as lame because they see some people play him in game and they just sit in corners droning (which is lame lol). But if you play him more creative and aggressively he’s super fun to play and is actually really strong too
Drone healing only works when you don't already have the drone deployed. Logging into an already deployed drone and trying to switch to drone view will NOT let you heal, so if you are planning to drone heal, you need to recall drone beforehand.
I like to leave my drone somewhere hidden while im nearby. Once it scans someone, theyre gonna be frantically looking for where the drone is cuz it makes a lot of noise. Extremely distracting. Then just end em while theyre distracted
My Tips Number 1 : always quick send your drone forward when you're about to cross a dead angle or enter a house or something. That prevent trapper or enemy you didn't notice. MTN 2 : don't forget that you can ''stick'' your drone on a surface (wall, car, roof, any element of the map, etc). Even when I'm in a close fight I always try to quick send and stick my drone just to abuse the scan. Option 1, the enemy ignore your drone and you will have a permanent scan. Option 2 : the enemy brakes your drone and HACKATON boost baby ahahha (it works even if you don't have hackaton cuz you can wipe the enemy's ass while he is focus on your drone 😊)
I wouldn't say you exactly scan beacons with drone in less then a second. I guess technically but then there's travel time which roughly makes it longer/just the same amount of time to scan. More like he can scan from safety and beacons out of storm without damage compared to people who actually have to use the beacon.
lol im just saying it's 2386723587235487623587 times faster to scan with the drone than to have to hike all the way over there with other legends. The drone travel time is so much faster than having to walk over there and scan it with a legend lol
Instantly scanning any beacons on drop gets you closer to blues than the team that dropped with you. Pair it with a support or assault crate on drop and you only need a few shots to blue.
Since he gets a speed boost now, even though you take shield damage, the enemy is slowed and trying to heal, meanwhile you're rushing them (yes with damage to your own shield) but they won't expect the speed boost crypto sprinting st them lol
You can abuse tree to avoid getting the drone destroy. Place your drone above a tree and it would scan thru the tree, it is exceptionally difficult to destroy the drone and leave you free to engage and scan enemy at same time. Been abusing this method since S3.
Had an Ash cry at me for sending out my drone for scouting, since he auto calls out. Turned around, looked at her and threw it again. Ended up getting 444 RP that match
Hmm for tip number 1, preemptively recovering your shield from your EMP during a drone call won’t work unless you already have shield that needs to be recovered. You can’t use shield batteries if you’re already at full shield. Or am I mistaken?
What I want to know is when should you scan beacons, as soon as the opportunity presents, say you are close by, or should you wait until a ring closes. Because sometimes I wait for the next ring but then teammates starting pinging the beacon crazy to do it asap.
There is really no right or wrong time. Usually if I land at a poi with a beacon, I loot up first and then after about a minute or two I’ll scan the beacon and see where the enemies are
Been playing crypto since season 3 my biggest tip would be to watch your placement with emp it can fuck over your teammates not getting the bigger emp and passive radius perk also helps with this
One major tip with Mr. Tae Joon Park, BE AGGRESSIVE! Sure you can be passive with crypto but you’ll be leaving your teammates to do almost everything,being aggressive with his drone scans and emp will give you much more value in the long run and your teammates will thank you for not being on your game boy all game lol. Don’t be afraid to throw your drone out and it gets shot, it happens but it’s the info it gives you before it gets destroyed that matters. Being passive with crypto will often lose you more games than you win

You can ignore ultimate penalty in close range by entering void like alter Q or wraith portal or ash ultimate. All you need is time it right.
You can use your drone to watch an area so you can focus somewhere else

Crypto can once again scan thru smoke and gas. But also thru windows. Do with that what you will. Any decent Crypto will make that work.

the information crypto provides by just throwing drone to tell the number of nearby squads is so useful
it is the best quick recon ability now when compared to vantage scope(need LOS), seer scan(need to spin around), bloodhound scan(got cooldown)
cuz knowing there's existing squad(in 200m range) gives you better choice on whether to start a team fight or not
this is not including all other usefulness on crypto abilities
So happy with that new buff that they gave him, I’ve been able to close in on a lot more enemies after emps….close to 6k kills now

I'm just gonna say thank you for the tips in this video. I was a crypto main before the rework and then the rework happened and adapting to the new style was a bit difficult I always threw drone out to see if anyone was near like I'm suppose to but i wasn't aggressive enough and played it safe in the back like a mole rat. And today I decided to think about picking up apex again (i still hate it because im a titanfall fan for life) because my girlfriend plays it like a demon and i think grandmasters for a couple of seasons. So against my hatred for the game i wanna spend time with her and not play like the old way because one it's for my sake of wanting to be better with my main and know what I'm doing and for the second reason not making my girlfriend feel like she's carrying me in this game even if i do need it😅 (also crypto is an absolute badass making me feel like Aiden pearce from Watch Dogs) so truly though thanks for the tips and now it's up to me to practice and not sell my teams bag
good tips for crypto. appreciate it. that said with how the current ranked system is letting you play so far below your rank, the lobbies are really easy and people have to be careful as a lot of stuff they aren't going to be able to get away with some of the plays at higher ranks. not your fault, just what ranked is now.
Lol yeah that’s usually how it is with new seasons. I’ve played crypto in all ranks (besides pred cause I usually hit diamond or masters and stop). But he’s viable in higher lobbies as well, just gotta play smarter

my point was just i can get away with a lot more careless plays in easier games and have to be careful not to pick those up when watching bronze ranked

Biggest tip to those learning to heal, batt, ult accel, etc.... while using the drone. You can not do it while the drone is already out. I made this mistake in the beginning and kept wondering why it wouldn't work for me. You can only do this as you're throwing the drone out.

During fights don’t be scared to toss the drone out above you while you’re trading. Just recall it quickly and throw it out again. Enemies get flustered when they get scanned and are caught off guard when you throw it out and recall it back constantly

Alter and crypto are a nasty combo. You can push teammates inside buildings using alters tactical, and you can time it with the EMP so you can push in the building and avoid the stun from the EMP by using alters tactical and then you can be right in the face of the enemy. So running a Alter, Crypto, and maybe a support legend would be a nice combo (Lifeline, Newcastle, Conduit)

Yeah people view crypto as lame because they see some people play him in game and they just sit in corners droning (which is lame lol). But if you play him more creative and aggressively he’s super fun to play and is actually really strong too
Drone healing only works when you don't already have the drone deployed. Logging into an already deployed drone and trying to switch to drone view will NOT let you heal, so if you are planning to drone heal, you need to recall drone beforehand.

Solid tips! I've always wanted to main Crypto but I'm so bad with him, I end up throwing most of the time
I like to leave my drone somewhere hidden while im nearby. Once it scans someone, theyre gonna be frantically looking for where the drone is cuz it makes a lot of noise. Extremely distracting. Then just end em while theyre distracted
Using the drone as a distraction is severely underrated

My Tips Number 1 : always quick send your drone forward when you're about to cross a dead angle or enter a house or something. That prevent trapper or enemy you didn't notice.
MTN 2 : don't forget that you can ''stick'' your drone on a surface (wall, car, roof, any element of the map, etc). Even when I'm in a close fight I always try to quick send and stick my drone just to abuse the scan. Option 1, the enemy ignore your drone and you will have a permanent scan. Option 2 : the enemy brakes your drone and HACKATON boost baby ahahha (it works even if you don't have hackaton cuz you can wipe the enemy's ass while he is focus on your drone 😊)
I wouldn't say you exactly scan beacons with drone in less then a second. I guess technically but then there's travel time which roughly makes it longer/just the same amount of time to scan. More like he can scan from safety and beacons out of storm without damage compared to people who actually have to use the beacon.
lol im just saying it's 2386723587235487623587 times faster to scan with the drone than to have to hike all the way over there with other legends. The drone travel time is so much faster than having to walk over there and scan it with a legend lol
Instantly scanning any beacons on drop gets you closer to blues than the team that dropped with you. Pair it with a support or assault crate on drop and you only need a few shots to blue.
His drone should show a emp circle radius to give accurate info on where that emp is going off

Since he gets a speed boost now, even though you take shield damage, the enemy is slowed and trying to heal, meanwhile you're rushing them (yes with damage to your own shield) but they won't expect the speed boost crypto sprinting st them lol

You can abuse tree to avoid getting the drone destroy.
Place your drone above a tree and it would scan thru the tree, it is exceptionally difficult to destroy the drone and leave you free to engage and scan enemy at same time.
Been abusing this method since S3.

Hmm for tip number 1, preemptively recovering your shield from your EMP during a drone call won’t work unless you already have shield that needs to be recovered.
You can’t use shield batteries if you’re already at full shield. Or am I mistaken?
What I want to know is when should you scan beacons, as soon as the opportunity presents, say you are close by, or should you wait until a ring closes. Because sometimes I wait for the next ring but then teammates starting pinging the beacon crazy to do it asap.
There is really no right or wrong time. Usually if I land at a poi with a beacon, I loot up first and then after about a minute or two I’ll scan the beacon and see where the enemies are
I personally feel like cryptos passive should be “hacker” which allows him to interact w every machine, ring consoles and survey beacons.

One major tip with Mr. Tae Joon Park, BE AGGRESSIVE! Sure you can be passive with crypto but you’ll be leaving your teammates to do almost everything,being aggressive with his drone scans and emp will give you much more value in the long run and your teammates will thank you for not being on your game boy all game lol. Don’t be afraid to throw your drone out and it gets shot, it happens but it’s the info it gives you before it gets destroyed that matters. Being passive with crypto will often lose you more games than you win
