It all depends on what you want to do. There is a lot more to the area than was shown here. There are many wonderful mountain walks, there is paragliding, skiing, a lot of history to see, boat trips around the lake and across to France and much more. You could easily spend a fortnight here and not get bored.
Hi Ollie, my family and i are planning to visit the Christmas market in Dec. However, the hotels in Montreux downtown can be a bit more expensive. Is there a town or canton nearby (within 30-min train ride) that we can stay that is more economical?
Hi! Do consider the suburbs of Lausanne. There are some very decent budget hotels. Examples are Tulip Inn Beaulieu Lausanne, and Moxy Lausanne City. Also, if you search for “auberges” these are just a little out closer to the vineyards, but are usually family-run, very cosy stays without over the top prices. Finally; Lausanne is only two stops away from Montreux :)
@@Olliechinny TQVM for your recommendations. Will check them out. I saw a few vineyard Airbnb options but they are usually far away from train stns and with 2 kids and many luggage we are a bit hesitant...

Hi, there is Tralala Hotel in the old Montreux. Not expensive (for switzerland) and perfectly placed.
You don’t grow wines, only grapes 😊
