My MIXED Feelings on Minecraft Live 2024

- Last week we had the first minecraft live presentation since the announcement of Minecraft’s new update structure. Over the course of the Minecraft Live 2024 presentation, Mojang showed off 2 drops. First was the bundles of bravery drop which is set to add both bundles and hardcore mode to minecraft bedrock edition. The second drop is currently known as the Winter Drop which introduced the new pale garden biome along with a new mob the creaking. While these features have all been added to the game through snapshot 24w40a, I honestly feel a bit mixed about them. So join me as I go over my mixed feelings on these 2 drops and minecraft’s new update structure.

Apology. NOT. accepted. 😡
As people said in the original comment. The pale garden needs a bit more, like owls and the pumpkin idea seems neat. And yeah, the creaking needs a bit more if you wanna encounter them
Owls would go hard
A potoo bird would fit the biome
Another problem with the Creaking is that it is supposed to be an at least somewhat scary mob… but what on Earth is there to fear when he hits for like 1.5 hearts with no armor on Hardcore LOL.
To be fair they can swarm you pretty quickly. But theyre only ever a threat for unarmoured players
be kind to them.. they clearly dont lift, look at their noodle.. or rather.. twig.. arms
however on serious note, left alone that unlike warden, you have no reason to force yourself to even risk encountering this guy, even if it took 9.5 hearts, what is current reason to go to pale forest by night and stay there, you grab some saplings and you get all blocks you can of it except hearts, and blocks are currently only "loot" you may want to get there, unless you want to build there something, and hearts seem to be only "loot" to be there to encounter creaking for, so far their uses are.. abusing game mechanics and limits such as filling mob spawn limits or using creaking as warden bait, not sure if either is intended purpose anything ever is added to game
maybe, only maybe, if you find big pale forest, and just run in middle and forget about time, they can just overwhelm you from all sides, but since they dont spawn at day, and are too tall, you can counter it by hiding under platform and wait for day, they cant even survive under trees as zombies do.. they seem more like distraction so creeper can blow you up from behind?
A cool feature could be that if you look in their eyes directly then you get the blinded effect for a second and they approach.
Combine that with difficulty scaling how close you have to look at the creaking, and you would have a very interesting challenge
@lunarhexagon8108 you cab still get the hearts if you get lucky and find them I a tree you're mining.
Eh, i feel like people get caught up in the ‘horror’ concept. Fundamentally, it’s a mob designed to create stress.
The sound and visual design are what actually makes it horror.
But it’s a support mob. It makes other mobs harder to fight. If you’ve tried in out yourself, the creaking makes it harder to turn your camera. Even though you know the consequences arent too dire, you just hesitate to do it. This give other mobs a lot of openings to catch you off guard.
I’d say that the Nether Update (1.16) is where they struck the perfect balance. While I appreciate that they want to take their time on updates now and go for smaller, more frequent “drops” as they call them, I can also see the frustration brewing from such a large event amounting to 5 new features in a way. I’ll add that I really love the pale wood, however at face value it doesn’t look like a lot.
1.16 not only hyped us up with the concept of the nether overhaul, but it also surprised us with new features that were not shown to us at all, in addition to the not underwhelming reveal. I hope that they can replicate this, because the marketing/promotion is almost as important as the update itself!
that wouldn't exactly be sustainable, nether update was one of the largest updates in the game's history
i think something more similar to 1.21 would be good. a lot of major was shown, but some major features like the mace weren't either, and was overall really well received as an update
1.16 is once in a decade btw, we have only 1 more dimension to update. Unless you consider the warden dimension to be added.
the nether update also took like 3 years, it was being worked on since like around update aquatic
@@arandomcreatureontheinternet15 it was also crunched
That update pretty much ruined them because they tried to match it in the next update and failed
I agree. I worry that the small updates are going to be so small that it wont motivate anyone to play the game. Seeing how the biggest small update we're going to get is a retextured forest and a mob that you can ignore so easily that it barely affects gameplay, I'm not so sure that these small updates are going to draw people in. I also agree that the pale oak is a great new wood type, but if we're just getting a new wood type and a new mob, I think they should either increase the amount of features in these drops or decrease the time between them. I'm not asking for a major update every few months, and I'm not asking for the updates to be dropped within weeks of each other, all I'm asking for is one more feature per update, or just shave a week or 2 of the wait. Thank you for coming to my TED talk
I wonder if he would re-rank of all mobs after 75 Phantom-Villager and also what if he does Biome or Wood or Tree ranking
Does a game need nonstop updates to be playable? There a lot to do in minecraft right now.
id rather have rarer bigger updates than these dribbles. weeks between updates is simply too short. if we got the nether update biome for biome it would not have been as great of a surprise as it was.
My theory is that drops are going to be seasonal, so 4 drop per year
@@djinnspalace2119 Why do you assume its only gonna be weeks

I really hope that Mojang get over their mobs having usable drops disease, it's genuinely concerning that i have to think wether or not a mob is even worth interacting with
This. They really need to start designing their mobs better, at least the Breeze is pretty solid
i find it genuinely concerning that your interaction with a mob has to be "if it doesnt drop anything i cant use for my progression then its not worth my time" what happened to just wanting to experience the content that we saw? i dont see foxes or pandas being shit on for this reason.
@@mrj1897 that feeling of wonder can last a few days, even weeks, but after that? We're left with something that doesn't nurture the experience in any way shape or form except "oh it looks nice"
@@apollyon6855 but the problem is you're looking for an extrinsic reward from your time playing. but the game is focused on intrinsic motivation in order for you to get the most out of it. Look at hermitcraft episodes and notice that alot of their content involves what they create or do in a playthrough, they actively make their own experience through them setting goals and being creative with the tools given to them. to further this point, they always beat the ender dragon no less than 10 episodes, while the rest are whatever shenanigans they end up wrapping themselves up in
@@mrj1897 foxes and pandas have other neat interaction you can have with them, foxes are tamable and can help you forage while pandas are useless but can serve as a niche alternative to slime balls
The creaking simply has no reason to interact with it, if you wanted the heart (for whatever reason) you could just go logging in the daytime and not have to interact with it at all. There is no purpose to the mob other than looking cool.
I don't think the creaking needs to drop anything (you cant kill it) but the heart should have actual uses, maybe you can use it in Redstone or it can be used to craft neat items or potions. It just needs something to be worth interact with it in any way. Additionally the creaking needs to be more actively engaging, maybe it spawns in darkness so you can have underground pale forests that spawn them in to add more threat, maybe they snuff lights around them to make them harder to keep track of, they need to do something, and the reward for dealing (or avoiding) them should be good.
I’ve actually seen a few people say that the Creaking mob is meant to capitalize on the current popularity (and infamy) of Minecraft horror mods.
Shit you might be right
Honestly it probably is. That and Weeping Angels are probably relatively easy to make.
Have you seen those new twitch and tiktok promotions they Mojang did right after Minecraft Live? The character creator items look like they were ripped straight from those video thumbnails, so I'm pretty confident they're doing just that.
I think the biome is just missing anything valuable for it to be interesting. The pale decorative blocks are nice, but having those be the only unique things you can collect here makes it so a lot ofplayers don't really have the incentive to go into the garden in the first place. Maybe adding some functionality to Hearts placed by players could give people more of a reason to explore this biome
Also think it'd be a cool opportunity for a new Spider variant with eyes similar to the Creaking. Maybe applies Blindness or something like that
I saw a Lucernian Spider concept on Minecraft Feedback. Seems alright.
alot of biomes dont have this incentive. So why is the pale biome the one that you lose interest in?
@@mrj1897 This argument could work for the cherry grove, not for this, this is a special "rare" biome with a unique enemy inside of it, more dangerous than the rest.
Going at night in this biome is an added risk with basically no extra reward.
That's said, im sure mojang is working on a reward or something similar.
(There are also other biomes that imo should have an extra reward, for example the mushroom island...)
@@mrj1897dude if you really don't care about incentives and interactivity go look at a power point presentation. I'm playing a videogame, I need THINGS TO DO and the REASONS to do such things need to feel valid, not just "oh do you wanna go sightseeing?"
This biome reminds me of the "overhaul" of the Tiaga biome in 2018, which was pretty much a nothing burger. It added 3 features to it, which one of them had nothing to do with the biome itself, while the remaining 2 being pretty forgettable and not optimal to interact with. The Pale Garden right now is just completely bland and boring, not to mention pretty ugly. Mojang should've done more to flesh it out because this looks like a shout from the concept room brought into the game
I'm very happy that they added Boo from Mario into Minecraft!
But the first thing everyone thought of was the Weeping Angels and that’s what it’s closest to
they did in 2016 with the Super Mario Mash-Up pack, Ghasts where completely changed to look like Boos
🧢 it’s a weeping angel
Peepa
I would love it if they really committed to the horror aspect of the pale forest. Make it into a real horror experience, make it all dark, turn your chunks down, amplify the scary sound effects and make it so the creaker is really following your every step. As it is, it's a great biome, but could've been better.
The only problem: Minecraft is not a Horrorgame.
@@GloomyWarrior not yet.
@@GloomyWarriorbruh, it used to be
They are specifically trying to go for eerie/unsettling instead of full horror. I do agree they should add fog to the biome, maybe have it block out the sky at nightfall and very slowly and imperceptibly close in on you
@@GloomyWarriorokay, I'm sorry, but I need to rant about this because I've seen people respond to comments like these this way and it kinda pisses me off. this isn't personal, more of just a general rant towards these kinds of comments, it's a pet peeve for me
just because it's not a "horror game" doesn't mean it can't have horror experiences within it. have you SEEN the ancient cities and the warden? that is clear, blatant horror. even before those there was always scary stuff in the game. the cave sounds, discs 11 and 13, and even just the ambience of the game in alpha and beta. and that isn't just me being "blinded by nostalgia" either. the cave sounds were added upon and simillar scary ambience were added in other places like the nether. disc 5 is an obvious nod to the original scary discs. hell, the developers even straight up said the warden was meant to replicate the horror of the first night in minecraft, and inspired by the monster in disc 11. minecraft, while not entirely a horror game, still has horror elements, and the developers definitely want to keep that spark alive.
OMG YES WHY DIDN'T I THINK OF THAT!
add white pumpkin to pale garden, maybe a pale flower that gives dark gray dye and my personally suggestion is to have a variant of this biome in the end (it fits there and the end could use more Biomes)
Honestly, yeah, add white carrots, add white turnips. Make more unique decoration blocks to it. White pumpkin would be fire too
@@Yosh-00 ok maybe not carrots but at the very least it requires a white pumpkin and a pale flower (possible from the sniffer)
the white pumpkin i a must because of Minecraft story mode a flower is extra decoration, and white turnips could also make sense eventually.

I think my issue with the drops system (and really minecraft updates in general) is how isolated they feel from the rest of the game. For example, 1.21 wasn't a bad update by any means, however its new structures and by extension content are so rare that the average player would almost never interact with them. And while there's some loot that encourages going into trial chambers (the mace is a good example), a lot of previous updates don't really give any reason to interact with them, on top of their content being exceptionally rare. For example, the Sniffer is a rare mob that is essentially a side quest to find and hatch, and it only drops 2 flowers which have literally no uses outside of decoration.
While most of the "drops" we've seen so far don't really follow this issue (armored paws specifically changed quite a bit about the game with their new wolf variants), the Pale Garden has me worried that we're just going to keep getting more "side quest" content that doesn't really add anything to the overarching game. The Pale Garden is a pretty rare biome, and currently it's reward is literally wood; it feels like it's shaping up to be another Trial Chamber/Mangrove Forest/Ruins Site.
The Creaking is... Interesting...
I mean it's a unique take on the ‘Weeping Angel’ concept (in quotes because Dr Who wasn't the first time this concept was used, as mentioned with SMB3 Boos) but like... it just seems like it won't function very smoothly... But who knows, I haven't tested it yet in the Snapshots. Also why does it only spawn at night.
But like, what is really cool for me is the biome colour, in terms of the water and grass colour. That will be so great for Creative building!
Yeah I sure hope the penguin 🐧 crab 🦀 and ice pillager will be 1.23 of Minecraft the other future updates
the creaking heart would be a cool looking item to obtain, but I wish there was a way for it to not spawn the creaking everytime you want to use it in a build.
@@BlueMarioGaming There is! If you want the creaking you need Pale Oak Log above and below it.
@@BlueMarioGamingIt only spawns when in between two logs, so I Guess that's something
@@WonkyWater-YT Does it still glow at night if you don't put it between two logs?
I'm just wondering because the creaking heart has the potential to be a better daylight sensor since it's a full block and doesn't need to be in contact with the sun in order to function, however these advantages get nullified if you have to worry about a creaking running around your build whenever it becomes night time.
I just saw the hanging moss at 4:32, and I just thought of one thing. A replacement for cobwebs that *presumably* won't affect your movement.
I had a idea to make dealing with the Creaking at least a little worth while:
He now drops a new item CREAKING'S EYE, if you have two of these you can combine them with red stone and stone to make the WATCHER (a new block) this would activate a redstone signal when a entity is in front of it, similiar to an observer but for entities.
It wouldn't be useful for everybody, but imagine how easier mob farms would be.
Another idea I had was making you able to tame the heart to summon your own Creaking as a guardian to protect from mobs at night, maybe not late game useful, but as a cool gimick, why not?
9:15 IT’S ME (Golden Freddy)
Wait YOURE golden Freddy, AHHHHHHHHHH
I think the problem with Minecraft isn't a lack of content and updates, its a lack of MEANINGFUL updates. So this increased frequency of 'drops' only makes the issue worse, its a misguided focus on quantity over quality to fix all the complaints people have lately, and I really don't think thats the solution. There's so many useless and one dimensional things that have been added to the game that either don't connect to anything else in the game and seemingly were only added for the sake of adding something new, or they make something else already in the game obsolete. Yeah every update doesn't have to be gamebreaking and completely change the game as we know it, it's nice to get small updates sometimes but meaningful ones, not just smaller updates in favor of more frequency. Personally I think Minecraft needs one giant quality of life update, similar to Terraria's Labor of Love update, titled such because the goal of the update was to polish the game and fix a lot of quality of life things, revamps, nerfs, etc, that's the best thing mojang could do in my opinion.
0:10 Did you hear about the new PlayStation 5 Pro? (It's robbery - $700!)
ok? Usual system price
I have mixed feelings too... If they're going to make smaller drops instead of major updates, how are they EVER going to make meaningful changes to the game??? How can they make an End Update or a Combat Overhaul (both things the community has been asking for for a long time) if they're stuck only making smaller updates?
On the other hand though, the "big" updates in recent years have just felt like a collection of smaller individual updates already (especially Trails and Tales). Bigger updates also kinda suck because they announce a TON of new things at once, we're all excited (or more accurately complaining, because that's what the Minecraft Community does best), but then by the time the update actually comes out the hype is gone, because we've already seen the snapshots.
The best strategy would be to do a mix of both... When they want to make updates like Trails and Tales, they can release the pieces as drops. But then if they want to do a bigger overhaul like the Nether Update they can do a special BIG update! It would be more hype if the big updates were special occasions.
What we just got a combat and end update in . . . 2016! It's been eight years! Wow, time flies. I remember when the elytra came out, it being the coolest thing ever
This drop would really be rounded out if they just gave the creaking heart a good recipe to be used in imo (and if they buffed the creaking to actually be a threat). Imagine some type of beacon/conduit type block made from the hearts that gives you a good resistance buff in a small radius or something. Even just something like that could go a long way.
Yeah this feels like a gimmick that people will use one time then never again. It's just a waste
That's a pretty neat idea, although a resistance buff in a small radius is literally just the beacon. It would probably have to be a different one.
I like the Creaking but I really wish that Mojang would rework and extend existing mechanics for a while instead of adding in new stuff
6:51 the creaking hearth should generate golems when placed in specific block patterns. Copper, obsidian, wood golem are posible now... ?
They should add a King Creaking to reference King Boo
The new update schedule is fine, but I’ll miss the big release updates. They always have so much hype around them and I feel a lot more excited.
If 1.22 is going to happen then Odyssey could do a ranking of updates of Minecraft
im pretty sure they still plan on doing big release updates, just not doing it yearly
1:50 One could argue that the Piglin Brute was also a drop for 1.16.2
he’s just going off what the officially confirmed to be drops, but i can definitely see that as a drop if it came out today
The update that started the trend of updates hurting speedruns lol.
People need to realize that this is a snapshot, not the full update. It needs improving, but everyone is acting like it’s the finished product. I’m just glad we’re getting free content for 15 years straight

Most game companies would've had DLC or something like that by now, but the game is still getting free updates. You only have to buy the game once and you have access to literally everything.
@@PlatinumAltaria this is also a small update, it's not meant to have as much as previous updates.
Personally I really like this new system.
Also it reminds me of the secret Friday updates notch used to make.
3:14 Mojang said they weren’t gonna release Hardcore on Bedrock until they’re satisfied with it, probably implying that they’re gonna fix the random deaths
they did not at all fix them, i joined a friend in a new hardcore world and i somehow died of fall damage on completely flat ground before i even connected lmfao
3:51 erm actually they're called stony shores
Hot take: I think Mojang should go back on their “don’t change the players world rule”. Instead of forcing new biomes and structures further and further away from the players they should instead look for “eligible” zones. These would be possible spawn points for the new content that Isn’t writhing 50-75 blocks of any player placed block. I think the current system kinda disincentivizes making long term worlds.
Absolutely agree. It's bad enough I had to waste tons of chunks just to get wolf variants.
I was thinking there can be an end-game block called the Rejuvenator, a spawner-like block that repopulates animals based on where you place it, and only works when placed after killing the dragon.
Basically it's the vanilla equivalent of the Amber Monolith from Alex's Caves but requires the dragon death instead of the Luxtructosaurus
@@EmperorPenguin1217 that’s fire. I was also thinking of something like the blood moon from Zelda that would reset the natural spawning blocks and mobs and stuff.
I don’t know if this would’ve been hard for them to implement, but I definitely think they should’ve added fog, the pale garden feels weirdly Underbaked without an extra atmospheric factor
Doing drops more often than main updates may give us more stuff more often, but less total new features overall, and that’s what mainly worries me.
5:40, nah thats for BIGGER nerds. it's obviously the coilhead from lethal company
Hopefully the next Minecraft Live (they should just start calling it the Minecraft Direct because it's not a live show anymore) is better, the fact that one of the drops shown at this one covered an item we've known about since 2020 and a game mode that's existed in Java since 2011 really didn't help with this one feeling a bit empty
That being said the pale garden looks cool, I just hope there's more incentive to go there
Minecraft Pre-rec
The pale garden is meant to be a sub-biome for the roofed forest. It’s different, but they’re found together, so I think it’s fine that they’re so similar. My only problem is that there isn’t much new stuff other than the wood set that’s really gonna change stuff. The creaking seems cool, but it doesn’t give a reward other than the experience. You can’t really use the creaking heart much. But, I still think the pale garden overall looks great.
I think the invulnerable Creaking feature is really cool, but I'm still a bit sad the PALE Garden isn't a new end biome
Honestly! almost everyone in the stream before they revealed it were screaming “END UPDATE PLEASE”
dude stop coping, the end update isn't gonna come out anytime soon.

1.21.3: Bundles
All of these were supposed to be in 1.17.
Ideas for making this drop better:
(I know that this isn't finished yet. And I also know that this gonna be small)
1. Fireflies that mimic Creaking's eyes. These fireflies also give the "phototoxin" effect when disturbed, this makes you vulnerable to sunlight.
2.Creaking should close his eyes when you look at him, more hard to see the better!
3.Creaking should be faster, because he is too slow
4.More mobs should spawn in Pale Garden
5. Talking about gardens, new plants (not really):
a. Dried slug and killer flower. These are symbiotic animals that be parasites to the trees together with killer flowers. Dried slugs will start to attack you if you break the flower, slowly crawling to you while making slippery surfaces. The flower can be used to make ignited ball. A new "weapon" made by 2 paper, 1 killer flower and 1 item that is about fire. It can be thrown to make fire
b. Sapple. Sapple are little parasitic trees that grow next to trees (even bamboo). These sapples will have different characteristics based on the tree. Apples of sapples can be eaten but are too sour that it will deal a small amount of damage, but the apple give you a "good thing" based on the tree it has grown on. But be warned, as sapples will have different dangers based on the tree they'll live on. They grow more in Pale Gardens.
c. Shadow-shroom. Just a biological black mine that is gonna give you a random bad effect when stepped on.
d. Microweed. Microweeds are 1 celled weed-like creatures that live in waters found in Pale Gardens. They are just a fire starter and grower.
6.New structure, Pale Palace. Not really a palace if it has been made of only wood. There are lots of Creakings here. It is made of 3 floors; The entrance, the basement and the roof. Entrance: You enter it and there are lot of Creakings and interesting shapes that can be used as parkour or hiding spots. There are good loot here if you count gold as good loot. Basement:You found a stair that leads to this floor. It is dark, atleast the entrance was lighten with sun. There lot less Creakings here. There are tables with food. There is lot of food here actually. Roof: You find a key in the basement that is in a chest that is almost unseeable. The roof is very near to be covered but since it isn't it is a roof. You find a door after searching in the claustrophobic halls. You open it. You see a small dagger. You try to take it. But then, a giant wooden creature appears. It has no name because I suck 4ss at naming things (Maybe "the Creature of the Palace" would work). It tries so squash you. It grows squashes around you to block you. And shoots 4 wooden darts at you at a kinda-like-a-penis pattern and has 100 health. You shoot (or somehow reach its chest even tho its 4 metres tall) to its heart. After it dies, you can now open the glass covering of the dagger. You had got a Sacrifical Dagger! It gives you health when you harm. Also killing tCofP will give achievement "what is royal about this, really?"
7.Forest pieces, Plantern and the Weakener. Now you rarely sometimes get forest pieces from breaking hearts (o)of these wooden creatures! You can use these for making a Plantern which is a low light lamp that weakens enemies (2 forest pieces and 1 glowstones and 6 pale oak wood). You can use these pieces to also make the Weakener, for 1 iron sword, 1 forest piece and 1 killer flower. This is a middle length sword that can show the location of enemies and make them take more damage
8. Daggers, these deal low damage and are very low ranged but attack very fast. 1 iron ingot 1 stick (For the iron one).
9. A new disc! Found by killing with the Creature of the Palace in with weakener
10. You can now make the 2 deleted dyes with Sniffers' flowers
the creaking should actually do any significant amount of damage, with iron armor its usually half a heart i think. its insane how weak it is, worse than a zombie sometimes
@@infebris What if it was like the sonic boom and ignores armor, so it's reasonable no matter what gear you have on?
What if the Pale Garden had a smaller worn down counter part to the Woodland Mansion where the creaking would spawn at all times of day. It could even have a new totem. Something like a totem that when you hold it in your hand(off-hand) you'd be immune to all damage like the creaking, but inturn the totem would take durability. Just an idea that just popped into my head.
Once again Mojang doesn’t want players to be killing things. Also increase the creakings damage please it’s paltry. They could give you the blindness effect when it’s nighttime in the Pale Gardens, or remove the glowing eyes of the creaking to greatly improve it.
Personally the only thing I think the pale garden needs is a Creaking drop, ijdk what that would be yet. Ibxtoycat also points out how the name of the biome being a "garden" is sorta misleading. My favorite part about the biome though is how the sky is greyed out while inside the biome, a very genius aesthetic change to make the biome more unsettling. I'm gonna try hardcore as soon as it comes out on Bedrock and see if my first ever hardcore world goes well or completely fails (I mostly play Bedrock btw, I rarely play Java)
I feel like calling pale oak forests "reskinned dark oak forests" is no different to calling bogged or stray "reskinned skeletons". It's a variant. It's a reskinned version of the original, but with some additional features. In the case of the pale oak forest they even exclusively spawn next to dark oak forests as a sort of expansion of the biome.
Honestly don't See the point in criticizing a biome for being a variant / reskin of another. It is perfectly fine imo to model a biome after an existing biome.
@@CONNORISSUPERGOOFY That's exactly my point. People always cheer for variants and reskins of mobs, so why not biomes too?
One is an enemy you encounter and very rarely need to go out of your way to find. He gives you absolutely nothing you cannot find anywhere else, so it feels like an addition
The pale forest is the only place you'll every get the new blocks, AND YOU HAVE TO GO LOOKING FOR IT. If you know there's absolutely nothing except the wood, Why bother interacting with the game? Just break some leaves for a sapling and leave
There's absolutely no reason to go out of your way to find the biome and get some saplings. That's why the comparison doesn't make sense
The difference is that the bogged has a completely different drop and some different mechanics. Even the poison shots alone drastically change how you fight it.
Meanwhile the pale oaks have absolutely no excuse to be direct copypastes of dark oak, it's bad enough that they're palette swaps.
@@CONNORISSUPERGOOFY
"It is perfectly fine imo to model a biome after an existing biome."
The problem: We already have a ton of biomes in the overworld, let alone forests and variants
I personally really like the concept for the biome and mob and I know the updates are now going to be smaller but more frequent but I still think the currently shown changes are underwhelming. Obviously more stuff might be added later but I'm left feeling like they didn't even bother
The pale garden kinda reminded me of the cherry blossom biome since they both have a unique aesthetic they are going for without having much content. Why am I fine with cherry blossom biome but not with the pale garden? Well, that's because pale garden just feels like it's supposed to be a much bigger and more expansive addtion. Why is it called a garden when it's just a grey forest without any new plants aside from moss? What's the point of the creaking if it can be easily avoided and doesn't drop anything? I hope it's just a matter of time and devs will end up making the biome actually worth exploring
Not a perfect "solution" but i DO have an idea for the Pale Garden.
They should make it so you cant sleep in the biome. placing a bed will make it grow pale and wither away after a few seconds.
having it so you cant sleep there makes it so if you want to explore one (if they add a structure there) you HAVE to deal with the creaking once it turns dark.
The creaking really be out here thinking it’s the Ganon fight in SSBU 💀
The pale garden looks kinda trash to me. All it offers is some new unique blocks that are just reskins of old blocks. They really, really, need to delve into that creepy horror vibe they want with this biome. Creaking needs a sizeable damage buff, I'm not saying make it Warden 2, but make it something you'd really rather not get hit by. Maybe give it insane knockback. And give it some drops. Even if it's just a bunch of sticks. Like other comments are suggesting, owls would be actually incredible for this area atmospherically. We just need more bird mobs in general. The white pumpkin is an amazing suggestion, but I also think we need flowers to make it feel sufficiently 'gardeny'. Some creepy flowers that look like they've had their colour sucked out of them would be excellent. But the big thing this biome needs is a reason to enter the biome beyond the blocks, and moreover, a reason to brave facing the creaking. Again, we brave facing the Warden because Deep Dark biomes are often filled with Diamonds, or because Ancient Cities have lots of busted loot (admittedly it needs improving too, mostly solved by making echo shards a resource for upgrades like netherite) and possibly the portal to a future dimension. The creaking has none of that. My suggestion, is to add a structure with really unique loot. My suggestion, and the easiest to make given that this is a re-skinned dark oak forest, is to make the Mirage Mansion. A re-skinned woodland mansion that cannot be entered during the day, with the structure itself draining the life of living creatures inside it during the day, and therefore mean anyone exploring the mansion at night would have to escape it before dawn. During the night, the mansion would be filled with creaking, or perhaps even some creaking variants that are even stronger and scarier. This structure would also need some strong and practical loot, something useful that players would actively want to seek, something that would make them want to brave the mansion. Something interesting to encourage players to explore this terrifying environment. Yeah, that's my thoughts.
3:21 I appreciate the Cap Kingdom music when showing the Pale Garden. PERFECT music choice
I thought of Boggly Woods from TTYD when I saw this. The only off thing is that the sky isn’t yellow. It was filmed at the wrong time of day.
Of course I HAD to reference Mario odyssey I can’t help myself!
@@Odyssey_Central What do you think of the Mario RPGs? Have you ever played one, or planned on it?
Exactly what I was thinking lol
I can’t wait for the Pale Garden. I think it’s very Spooky. The Creaking could be your Personal Scarecrow.
Yeah I was thinking I do not want to go to the Pale Gardens causes it’s scary with the creaking trying to kill it
5:16 Yes! YES! YEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSS! White Pumpkin Needs to be Added
I think if you place a creaking heart, the mob should fight for you instead of against you. It'd make a new, unique form of home defense.
Also make it so it works underground mayhaps
creaking heart is daylight sensor but it dont have to be on surface
Personally I like the anticipation of the yearly updates, sure some years may bomb but with no mob vote AND no massive announcement, I'm not sure the hype train will roll the same. If every few weeks something new gets added, I'll probably end up tuning out some of drops and will feel lost when I hop back in.
Imo, the new biome would be sooo much cooler if there was a really heavy fog upon entering. Also, the creaker should close its eyes when looking at it, making it blend into the trees a little more
It would be awesome u could get white pumpkin from the pale forest.
Mcsm :o :o
They need to add gotham as a biome and add batman and jonkler as mobs
An idea I thought could have made the Creaking more interesting was if after you get it’s heart block you could place certain mob drops in it marking it only go after those mobs, like give it rotten flesh and gunpowder and I’ll only go after zombies and creepers. Could be an interesting way of gardening basis but I highly doubt something like this would be added
I definitely agree, the creaking doesn't have enough on it's own to warrant wanting to go and challenge it, and is easily avoidable if you don't go at night or you dig a hole under the creeking's feet
I bet peenix teached you this...
I'd have no problem with it if they do smaller drops over some time to really work on a big fleshed out update like 1.16 was
I think a neat addition to the Pale Garden would be actual small gardens that generate in the forest. Its rare and you can find some neat loot there. But, you can only get it at night
I am so looking forward to the new wood set. I love it so much!
The update cycle not so much tho. The great thing about one big update was that all the features connected: In the last update everything connected back to the trial chambers (except the crafter but I am not complaining about that one). Now I fear that the new features, even if equal in quantity, will be more singular features that will feel tacked on without really interacting with other stuff
Maybe if it had batman and mario in it
Honey bee?

FINALLY!
I've never seen someone mention adding the White Pumpkin to Minecraft in a video, it would make perfect sense for the Pale Garden as well!
I kinda hope they'll finally add Owls too, I've been wanting Owls so badly for years.
Personally I'm hoping that the big updates are still a yearly thing that drops on summer, with 1 - 3 drops in between.
To me it sounded like the devs want to still do big updates, with these drops just being a little extra to go alongside bug fixes so there's something to look forward to aside from hoping a bug in bugrock that kills you for no reason gets fixed and yes I'm a bedrock player so I know the pain
I think we should give them like at least 3 years of doing this change in plans to see if it was better or worse than what we had previously
3:12 Is the mobile version of bedrock just superior to the PC version?? Cause I never experience bugs there, but this “Bugrock” thing is still apparently a problem.
I play on a laptop and never experience these kinds of bugs
one pro for the smaller updates is that hopefully the devs will have a better workload. putting out a big update every year must be exhausting for the developers!
Is this a joke? Mojang developers are notoriously lazy and pass out after 15mins of recoloring a block. There are 713 people in this damn studio backed by a multibillion company AND YET they make less content in a year than a few independent modders do in a week
I think Gerg’s video made some great points about the pale garden update, mainly how the pale garden can ruin a beautiful landscape with its harsh contrast, and some of the flaws with the creaking.
I'm a bit mixed too on the drops announcement. I don't really mind if updates in general were smaller (the earlier big updates prior to... 1.9 I'll say) seemed to come out consistently without once a year wait times. And it's not like there's some precedence to drops; back in the 1.2 era, it was like 1.2.5 where we got unique wooden planks for each wood and updates to sandstone.
On the other, I don't really like when new features / blocks / mechanics are added in the middle of an update cycle just cause I think those changes are hard to associate with their release era since they weren't in the initial release. I'm a big organization guy that way so it could just be me getting disappointed at that idea. I personally wouldn't mind getting smaller scops for big updates. It is nice how we got reworked oceans, Nether, world generation, etc. But other than an End 3.0, if they went back to smaller scoped updates I would be fine with that
I really hope they add a glowing variant to the pale vines like how glow berries work. It’d be a cool building block and would help the creaking blend in
mojang after 2 fiscal quarters of sliding the hue shifter to the left
mojang will add 400 biomes with 1 mob each before adding vertical slabs
yeah vertical slabs are on the "never doing that" list
@@arandomcreatureontheinternet15 it's just kinda funny what they chose and choose not to add. they're not lazy, i just don't find most of the stuff they add nowadays to be interesting. probably won't update past 1.21 because these drops are gonna break mods every couple of months.
@@nousername4416They absolutely are lazy, no doubt about that.
I feel like the trees need to have a unique design rather than the dark oak tree and also I want there to be more of a reason to try to find and explore a pale garden rather than just the wood type: maybe a tiny structure similar to an ocean ruin that might have a special item, also add fog to make it creepier and make it so that the vault that is found in said tiny structure doesn’t need a key instead it only drops the loot at night to stop players from taking it during the day
the bats and pots update is the prequel to the batman update
I just want an end update :(
1. All illager types (except witches) run away from the creaking!
2. YES YES THE WHITE PUMPKIN NEEDS TO BE ADDED
I think at least the canopy should be higher, so creaking is less likely to get stuck.
Also white pumpkin would be pretty cool.
Yet another Odyssey Central banger. So exited for the 200k special!
October 22 is bundles of bravery and around the holidays (Christmas) The creaking update releases
Im actually happy they brought this update schedule. Back when bedrock was pocket edition, they updated the game in a very similar style, and as a long time PE player, I can't wait for this update style to return!
THE missed opportunity with this update is that it could have easily been an End biome.
I’m loving these Minecraft updates, and I like the fact that we’re getting small updates now, but I’m really, REALLY hoping that one of these smaller updates will start adding in some mobs that lost the Mob Votes. I want the Chillager and the Crab to be added 🥺
I really hope they give the creaking an actual drop. Or just something else to do in the biome.
If not, then the only real reason to find the pale garden is to grab a sapling and maybe a bit of moss.
I am very mixed on this all stuff
bundles.. yes, finally, they will be helpful in early and also late game for sure (such as carrying 4 kinds of niche redstone components in stacks of 16 and it taking single stack? it is definetly thing people will use if they will want to not carry 20 shulker boxes to build one farm), that they can be colored is definitely also nice thing, no need for 6 millions of colors, 16 colors is enough by me, they can be also server used thing as "mystery box" kind of thing, I only think they could expand on it and have like potion bundles or such to store more potions in one stack but maybe one day
pale garden.. seeing leaks I hoped for some.. garden-looking biom, not forest, maybe new flowers or such too, I like that it is basically converted/corrupted dark forest, it implies some lore and I like that, we dont need new tree shape every time, and those willows people complain about (since willow is inspiration to pale forests apparently and pale oak look nothing as sayed willow), we may get willows some day
creaking.. great concept, cool mob when they wanted to add again something you should not fight directly conventional ways.. I would prefer something to get of it (except hearth alone) but I see how that could make it hard or inpractical with this kind of mob as told in video, you can absolutely avoid it, it is not really obstacle, you can camp on edge of forest over nigt or sleep and mine wood during day, only reason to encounter creaking is to find hearts, but ye, what those would be for.. not sure, they seem to scare illagers so.. automatic farms and.. minigames or niche super specific odd redstone contraptions, there is no single reason average person would have to ever encounter creaking in nature, most likely they will be used for trolling or griefing on servers for most part, it should be around during day too to protect forest like ents or something, but maybe it has some lore/deeper reasons.. for gameplay alone I would say mob is very disappointing so far for me and only current use for survival single player is to cheese warden which is.. not hard already actually.. creaking is immortal and warden cant break blocks, so one creaking can bother warden as long as needed unless they deal with this (but warden can be stopped by trapdoor with redstone clock so.. not even providing new thing here really), creaking could be improved if you had any reason to stay in biom over night, like dungeon (abandoned mansion could be thing) or archeology dig site, yes, you could still use mighty bed but it could be reason to be possibly surprised by those mobs if you dont pay attention to time (if they made it also bit harder to see time change in that biom, they could even give use to clock item)
making more smaller updates (cant call it drops, I find that term kinda weird), is nice to get new stuff to do once in a while.. if they dont need us to go to new locations, bundles or wolf variants for bioms to be added in mini update? sure, you can get them from existing worlds if you got bioms where they spawn or you can gather resources from, new biom? now isnt issue, just go 5k blocks and find it, next month go another 5k blocks to get new biom we have now.. left alone servers and mods will likely not update to every new version all the time, some mods may leave out one, other mods will leave out other thing, they will be out of sinc, I guess it could be almost better to gather that pile of smaller things and release them once ready at slower pace but will see how that will go in practice, what they plan to add, how often and what will be reasons for big updates
4:47 "i cant bro, im from brazil"
Gonna be working on that 300k special soon!
i do feel like the small updates can be good, there are a lot of areas throughout the game that could use an upate. they should definitely add something more to rhe pale garden
Ngl i think that they should make the pale forest spread over your world until the heart is destroyed, once broken it should shrink the first back down. This would force you to explore and try to survive so that it doesn't ruin your base. Also placing the heart in a friend's base and having a forest grow there and force them to search for it would be peak.
Hopefully 1.22 will be incredible, like I like the idea of little updates, but I hope it doesn’t mean they make 1.22 smaller
My opinion on this update is while I think what they are adding is really cool, a new biome does not feel like it should be there priority. I really feel like existing biomes like the birch biome or even the end dimension really need to be fleshed out more before adding new stuff since the basic parts of minecraft are starting to feel dated. Also this biome is just adding more none fully fleshed out places in minecraft which will give it a more quantity over quality feeling (look at how many people are complaining about a lack of even going there) I really think that the biome vote losers from the past would fit perfectly for these drops and also really flesh out existing biomes bringing more life to the game
4:57 And the top of the 24w40a changelogs they said the pale garden is a variation of the dark oak forest, so it makes sense now, and twitter users can finally stop complaining and happy about your life
in my opinion, you should be able to dye the pale oak planks
That's the point of other wood types
I know that its unfair to compare Minecraft to don't starve (which funnily enough just changed to the opposite approach to updates) but mabey it would help to have a sort of theme and make an update line (or drop line) based on it? it would allow all the features added to have some cohesion and would encourage them to go back and retouch previous drops if necessary.
I guess what I'm saying is that they should try a "Return of Them" style of content drops for a year or two and see how that works out. in fact that may even make it so you don't have to remake a new world to be able to experience update stuff without traveling large distances since it would be more so adding to to already major changes.
just a thought, for what its worth, I think the more constant scale does justify these slightly smaller updates, even if I think they could do just a LIIIITLE more.
The Bonneton music while talking about the pale woods was a nice touch lol
I played the latest snapshot to experience the Pale Garden, and it appears to be a dark forest and regular forest blend. So it makes sense that it looks like a dark forest.
To me the Nether update was and still is the greatest update that they have ever released. It was such an incredible time to be playing Minecraft during that time. It was a hell of an update and the hype was beyond anything that we have seen before. That's the type of update I want to see every year and even if every 2 years I would still prefer that over a small update every few months
4:56 they officially claimed that this is a variant on the Dark oak forest, you’ll always see this biome spawn near old taiga’s or dark oak forests
NGL the creeking and pale garden is a huge w update for me cause I love horror and I love Minecraft so it’s like a match made in heaven for me
In its current state, the pale gardens were so close for me. Some more plant life, maybe one more feature for the creaking, fog for less visibility would have made this biome peak
I'm hoping we'll get the regular Updates each year with small drops throughout to keep the game relevant and exciting. Not really excited for the Pale Garden itself currently. I'm sure mods will do some cool shit with it like giving the Creaking drops, White Pumpkins and so on but if Mojang doesn't bother giving the Creaking drops or some reason to head into a Pale Garden beyond new blocks, I won't even bother updating. Also, the update schedule is kinda frustrating for modders but I'm assuming it'll we'll get people backporting drops to an earlier version instead of taking months of development porting to a new version which could be obsolete in a few months which could instead be used on adding new content. Also, not crazy over the Creaking as while it's got a good design it's actual gameplay could be insanely frustrating considering you'd have to dig around for its Heart allowing weird traps where you could seal somebody in a box with them and they'd be completely unable to break free without outside help.
