Reviving the lost dye colors would be a genius idea for the Sniffer! Ties into their "ancient" theme in a meta sense, makes the mobs actually useful, and gives us two frankly gorgeous colors that're a crime to have lost! Awesome vid, loved every other suggestion but the Sniffer one really stood out to me!
It is a nice change but a way I would change the sniffer is change what seeds you can get depending on the ground block or biome. Sand in the desert would be different from it in a river and such.
It would provide a motive to get it and make a farm, and you could use allays to pick up the items not for any reason because hopper mine carts would work too
One thing you didn’t mention is that armadillo scutes are used to repair the armor, encouraging you to keep some armadillos around rather than getting six scutes and never interacting with one again.
I had the idea of allowing the Sniffer to rarely find the ACTUAL ancient flowers of Minecraft. Those being the Classic Rose and Cyan Flower. No changes to the texture, just pure nostalgia and fanservice for long-time players.
What feels the most cynical about the snifer is the fact that it pulls out exactly TWO seeds, which is the absolute bare minimum for the announcement not to have been a lie, as they used plural.
On top of the dye suggestion I'm really hoping it'll be able to dig up classic and cyan roses soon too. I feel like it should dig up at least 10 items to feel worthwhile
It is so disappointing. I voted for sniffer because I assumed we'd be getting a wide array of new flowers, and not just two utterly useless ones. Them being purely aesthetic is insane because it doesn't take that long to add two flowers into the game as 1 person. Mojang is a whole dev team. If I knew this was the outcome I would have never voted for them, smh.
Glow squids were shown to hypnotise the devs in their mob vote trailer. i think it would be cool if they could stun people underwater, making oceans a bit more treacherous
But then it would interrupt speedruns by having a run-in with one randomly once every 7.5 trillion attempts! That’s too much, so they had to not do it!!!1!
"But we don't want the 6 year olds playing our game to go out to the Amazon rainforest and kill the poison frogs!!! :(" -Mojang when they want an excuse to be lazy and not add a mob that might be a little tricky to implement I mean, you wonder why they still let you kill cows n shit for food and sheep for wool, they don't care about animals they just don't want to add anything challenging to implement or cool gameplay wise. I mean they pretty much do the bare minimum and expect us to be amazed and mesmerized every time
@LeaveNow. Modern mojang: n-n-no they can't do backflips! Kids will think frogs do back flips now! Anyways we're adding 2 blocks next update and it's coming out in a year 😁
Well, it has been a common theme that Mojang has been bloating the game with “one-trick pony” mobs, so seeing these make more of an impact on the gameplay loop would be really great! Also, they REALLY dropped the ball on the Sniffer :(
Unpopular opinion: I would have preferred the Tuff Golem. We’ve only ever had two golems in the game, and they were added a LONG time ago. Plus, we missed the copper golem earlier, and we have this fancy new tuff block! It would have really added some new life to some builds!
I fell likw the sniffer could sniff a rare mini dinosaur head that could be placed like the mob heads or haha giant potato. Also, everywhere i go, i see your face
I mean you didn't really say why he's good, which is that his main and only theme is to be a decoration, making making hard to give other purposeful uses@@BrianCannan-em1nk
They didn’t drop the ball on the Sniffer, they forgot that the mob vote existed until it was too late and they had to make a rushed feature. Yay Mojang.
I think it’d be cool if the sniffer could sniff up other “ancient” features like heads of the original zombie pigmen in the nether and rubies (now only used for decoration, but maybe something more)
Phantom changes: make them biome specific (mountain biomes, above a very high Y level), they will have a nest there and will be neutral towards the player. Phantoms will lose neutrality with high Insomnia, the higher, the bigger detection range and more spawns from the nearby nest. Within the nest there will be suspicious gravel, containing Phantom based designs for sherds and armor trims, maybe along with other unique drops. Another change for the Membranes, creating a Membrane block. It will be soft enough to negate fall damage from any height. The block will be good for white - light gray gradients. That way you're not removing them, but making them a unique experience to be added to the barren mountain biomes, with unique loot, and an easier Phantom farm (that can easily be disabled without sleeping, by blocking spawn locations within the nest), which will be more useful with the Membrane block.
I LOVE the look of the Phantom, so it absolutely pains me that it's nothing more than an "annoyance". Here are some random thoughts & ideas I had for the Phantom: • I had this idea that Phantoms can phase through any mob, but will damage said mob by doing so. This makes the name make even more sense, but also makes them a threat to the surrounding area when you do have them around. • I had this other idea to create a potion with the phantom membrane & when under its effects, Phantoms will act as neutral mobs instead of hostile mobs. • To continue on my previous idea, maybe you could even utilize one to help you after "taming" one. It would allow you to essentially use it like a hangglider (like horses without a saddle) & might take you somewhere similar to how dolphins lead you to shipwrecks. • Fix its buggy pathfinding & allow Phantoms to be easier to actually hit when they swoop down; in exchange for a bit of extra health. However, hitting their head also does slightly more damage & is a weak spot while within about 4 blocks of the ground. These are just ideas, but I wish they had a more interesting premise for how cute & cool they look.
Here’s my idea. Phantoms will behave like they normally do. Spawn after three days of not sleeping. But, 1, phantoms will only spawn once the night is almost over. And 2, they will only spawn if the player isn’t moving for a while. That way, they will jump scare the player if the player is talking to their mom or is on their phone. Also, phantoms will only spawn once. And after they spawn. The player cannot sleep for three days. As for the phantom membrane. First of all, cats can no longer find them. So the player will have to kill a phantom. Second, phantom membranes will be used to craft end crystals. Because end crystals summon the ender dragon. And there has been many theories that the ender dragon and phantoms are somehow related.
I think having them spawn in mountains and neutral ruins their more mysterious/magical vibes. The fact that they only appear when you don't sleep (and they don't spawn at any other point) implies that either they're supernatural, as if they are born from the player's insomnia, and that makes them more interesting then if they were just very aggressive mountain bats.
@@lasercraft32 sure, it's definitely more interesting as if they're a figment of your insomnia. But I prefer not to face them if i don't want to sleep. Making you climb mountains to find ruins of these undead beasts I think also tells there's some lore there: maybe the Phantoms were the pets of the ancient builders that lived on mountains, then left to die by these builders. Then maybe attacking you while sleep-deprived is there way of wanting you to go to sleep as their suffer-filled existence is brought by nightfall.
It would be awesome if the sniffer could dig up different plants depending on what block it’s on. Imagine if it could dig up ancient nether seeds while on top of crimson or warped nylium
I mean this as constructive criticism: I think you could’ve done a lot more with this video. You explained what makes the armadillo so cool is how it motivated mojang to change other parts of the game, like adding wolf variants, but then you didn’t do that for any of the other mobs. Like instead of just making phantom membranes do more, you could’ve come up with some mechanic involving insomnia beyond just phantoms. All of the changes you made felt pretty flat (except the sniffer change with the new dyes that was a good idea kudos on that)
I agree; the Armadillo part was genuinely good & he had great points. However, he then proceeds to somewhat to barely elaborate different ideas for the other mobs. It was honestly a bit disappointing & felt almost rushed. I love Odyssey's content, so I wish nothing but to see him improve. (He also has impeccable humor)
Yeah like, bamboo was most likely added because of the panda being voted for, which then a few updates later gets a wood variant. I don’t think that panda needs any major changes as well, it’s fine there being some biome specific animals that are just cool (like the polar bear)
I unironically voted for the Glow Squid because I love marine biology and wanted a "deep-sea" Mob of sorts. I think it would be cool if they had a use beyond smearing their guts on frames- maybe they lure other Aquatic Mobs near them? Kinda like an anglerfish using her esca to lure in prey. Could be good for farms.
I don't care how many people point out how the glow squid doesn't actually glow, I've always thought that more mobs should have luminescent parts like enderman and spiders that glow regardless of the light level, and it looks great on the glow squid
Also changing the glow squid to make them produce light would be kinda dumb, beacause they are supposed to be bio-luminecent like a Deep sea creatures (meaning that they produce enough light to look bright but Not enough to iluminate things near them) Changing that would defeat its aestetic
I wished the glow squid's ink sac could be used on color blocks(example Glowing red wool) and leather armor, and give the blocks a light level of 4. This feature would tie in perfectly with your sniffer suggestion as we would have 2 extra dyes to work with "colored lights".
10:02 I'm an Allay fan and there's problems with the allay. Anyways here's my suggestions and Improvements for the allay. 1: Putting an Allay in a bottle. This makes it so that you can easily carry an allay through dimensions and simply makes them much easier to use. 2: Better Pathfinding. Basically better with in general. Avoids more obstacles, and avoids lava at all costs. 3: A way to find allays without going to a mansion/outpost. I feel like Allays are simply too rare. Maybe you can convert vexes to Allays or a rare chance for an allay to spawn randomly. I also do want Tameable Vexes
@@xaviermedeiros3587 Respectfully, I feel like that would be a horrible idea, and would only make people hate phantoms even more. It would KILL speedruns to require membranes for Ender Eyes. Forcing the player to wait for phantoms to spawn in order to get membranes to get to The End would be the worst kind of gameplay for this kind of thing... Especially since Phantoms are there to _encourage_ players to sleep more often. Having a key item require membranes is counter-intuitive. Long story short, the membranes should only be used for optional items, as a bonus thing. Not a requirement for progression.
Glowberries Also existed and could've done the same thing. I'm also like, 99% sure that was the intent, because the Glow Item Frame is yellow, like Glowberries
I'd say that letting foxes attack zombie villagers is nothing but _detrimental,_ especially since you can't force them to sit like you can with wolves. Anyone who works with villagers would absolutely hate this change, whether zombifying villagers for discounts or looking for a zombie villager to start up a trading hall, either way its not even remotely helpful.
The problems with the phantom solely lie that it spawns in the wrong dimension, I actually like the mechanics added for the overworld but the general vibe of phantoms feels like it needs to be in the end and it would make it so much harder to get to end cities. Like let's be honest, why is it in the overworld when it repairs an end item? Make it make sense.
The Sniffer plants could have some especial effect to them like the wither rose (torch plant could produce light, for exemple). Also more plant types would be nice.
the sniffer should also get a unique trim, and sherds it could pick up. those two are already considered ancient items, and I think increasing the pool to non-plant items would be nice. A decent batch for variety without overflowing the loot tables. Also: maybe instead of every item sharing the same loot table, maybe it varies for different biomes/blocks? Probably only neccessary if way too many items are added
one of the ways I think the sniffer flowers could be improved is if torchflowers damaged undead mobs and pitcher plants damaged bugs. the former is more of a fantasy thing but it would be cool if pitcher plants ate bugs like in real life
Even though it’s never been in Minecraft, I would love the sniffer to also dig up something that makes lavender dye. There’s so few blocks in the purple-blue spectrum and I think adding a new dye would be an easy fix to that, but it could still be done with another block type
Finally someone mentioning the absurdity of mojang removing the copper horns. I mean: why? They were ready for implementation already, and added some extra use to both copper and the goat horns
I think it'd be cool if the Sniffer could sniff up a new food, maybe corn, since Native Americans buried corn for long term food storage. It'd also be interesting if they added truffles for the Sniffer to find. Cus who doesn't love them some pig musk fungi? It could also be nice to get the cyan flower (Pocket Edition) and pink daisy (Earth) as new Sniffer flowers.
Completely agree with all of the points in the video: - Armadillo was very well implemented, specially with the new wolf types. - I wish the fox could be a companion just like wolves. - The frog, pandas and the allay are alright. - The glowing squid should definitely emit light.(For goodness sake, that's why I voted for it) - I recently hatched a sniffer in my world and was very disappointed. An ancient dinosaur could open so many possibilities, they should definitely add more features related to the sniffler. Great video.❤
5:20 Idea for the phantom: delete the current insomnia mechanic and make a new Potion of Insomnia. Made by adding an Eye of Ender to a Night Vision potion, going to sleep with Insomnia would make the player wake up in the middle of the night surrounded by Phantoms, which would have a new creepier model that makes them look less goofy indoors. To expand on the mechanic, they could add a new use for the Phantom Membrane and/or a new rare drop from Phantoms.
The phantom could be reworked to also spawn on mountains when a new addition, a blood moon shows up which increases the rate mobs spawn and only begins to spawn when you first enter the nether. Phantoms could come in different coloured variants during a blood moon which can give a new dark coloured dye and can dye the elytra.
It is also a fairly popular mod for MC in the form of Enhanced Celestials. Mojang does not really want to directly implement features from mods in the vanilla game now as they did with Horses and Pistons back when Minecraft was still an Indie game.@@pmahcgop6693
@@pmahcgop6693 Terraria has blood moons that can occasionally pop up but it's not like it's the only game with them, the only problem with dyeing the elytra is what do we do with capes that change the elytra already? I like the idea that they only pop up after visiting the nether
I'd love it if the sniffer could dig up ancient food types, like we haven't gotten a new food item since sweet berries. On that note, they could've given the glow squid it's own unique biome for the caves and cliffs update, but that might be asking for too much.
*Glow Berries:* Am I a joke to you!? Jokes aside... As cool as ancient foods would be, they wouldn't serve much purpose outside of the crops being cool decorative plants. Sweet berries and glow berries are already relatively mid sources of food, and unless you're a hardcore vegan I don't think most players would ever need to go out of their way to get these foods when they already have steak, porkchops, and golden carrots. Either it would need to be a _really_ good food source, or its only benefit would be the novelty of it (and making the "A Balanced Diet" advancement slightly more difficult to get). Then again, this is pretty much true for every food source in the game... So I guess it doesn't really matter lol. 😅 I mean look at beetroots... Poor fella is completely useless...
Love the video of the sniffer plants giving you dye that cant otherwise be found. Works perfectly with the whole ancient creature and plants that no longer exist. I love collecting all the different plants and was excited for the sniffer cuz we'd be getting more, and while I have to admit I do enjoy watching the sniffers bumbling around (especially the babies), I was quite disapointed when I found out that it was only two plants. I know new plants could end up being added at some point but the whole two exclusive dyes thing would have made having only two new plants so much better.
I fully believed that the sniffer would be able to find actually useful items like emeralds or something. I was very disappointed when I learned that it literally only could find two basically useless items
I think a very interesting and extremely useful use for the phantom membrane would be the ability to add it to armor via smithing table to make it effective against negative potion effects. The more membranes added to a piece of armor, the more effective it is up to a certain cap. Maybe 5 membranes. This would be useful for witches, cave spiders, but more crucially, wither skeletons and withers. It would also provide resistance to dragon’s breath. Moreover, it could add a small resistance against potion effects that don’t deal damage such as weakness and hunger.
This video honestly feels cathartic. The main reason that the whole "just add all three" argument was so prevalent last year was explicitly because of how terrible mob vote mobs have always been; it was always what simple feature was advertised in the video, nothing more. So of course the "Just add all three" argument started circulating, because if they did it at the effort level they did for the other mob vote mobs, then it *would* just be that easy. But if the mobs actually...*did things,* then i don't think peoplr would be as pissed they're tossing away their favorite mob forever, because as you said, the armadillo actually added more functionality. (Also if the sniffer isn't gonna sniff up any usable plants, at least remove sniffer memory, literally why the fuck is there a feature to limit how many *cosmetic flower seeds* you can get?) Personally, I'd give the sniffer a new kind of meat (its not a real life mob, so they can do that) thats better then steak so you have a reason to get it, and/or make it rideable by multiple players, and/or let us use it as mobile farmland. The first one would be cool because it'd be the first new meat in the game in years, the second because riding would be fun and it could be neat player or villager transport wothout stepping on the camel's toes, and the third could make more nomadic playstyles actually viable because right now you... Kinda just have to keep pillaging and looting everything you find to survive without a permanent base.
Here’s another idea for the sniffer. Have the sniffer dig up new rare crops called the Ancient Berry and the Primal Beetroot. These would be able to be harvested just like any other crop. Planted on farmland, and growing until they are ready to be picked. These would be very valuable food sources. They would take a long time to grow, but they would restore 5 hunger bars a piece. They would only be obtainable through the Sniffer though. I feel like this would act as a rewarding incentive to actually find the Sniffer, since you already need to go out of your way to get one.
The reason that Glow Squids don't glow is the same as the reason why you can't have an item in your hand glow; if you want it to be more than purely visual (actually stopping mobs from spawning, etc.), it would require a complete overhaul to Minecraft's lighting system (light level is controlled on a per-block basis, and having it move smoothly alongside an entity would be WAY too taxing with all the lighting updates). Things like Optifine can do it because it's purely visual.
@@AndrewBrown-yf3hk The lighting already only updates every block. If you ask most redstone users or technical players, they'll tell you how they try to avoid unnecessary lighting updates because they can easily cause the game to lag. Having several mobs constantly moving (because squids never stop once they start moving, especially since the water makes them floaty) and causing lighting updates would be terrible for performance.
A poison dart frog variant sounds really cool! They could also make it so that you can use arrows on the frog to make poison arrows since it's secretions have been used to make poison darts in real life!
I think for the phantom they should make it so if you sleep 6 nights in a row it spawns for another 6 nights so it makes you have to sit through night because right now you just kill 2 sheep and get 1 log and never have to deal with night again
i don't know why i haven't seen anyone else have this same idea yet, but i wish glow ink could be used to make glow wool and dyed lether armor. i want to make bioluminescent things that don't emit light.
Just to clarify the very first mob vote was you can pick one and the rest will not be added ever but all other ones after that were you pick one to be the priority the add for the update and then the other two will be in some later update. Example: frogs.
One small thing they could do for Allays would be to add a rare "Golden Allay" variant, like the ones in Minecraft Legends. It wouldn't need to do anything, it could just be a rare thing like the Blue Axolotl, with a small chance to spawn one when you duplicate an Allay.
the sniffer is such a cool and interesting creature in concept, i was so disappointed whenever it was implimented and became immediately useless apart from decoration. really hope it gets an overhaul sometime in the future
For the Sniffer, I would like the plants to have a more practical use: Torch Flower - light source (obviously), plant it on a magma block and it produces blaze powder Pitcher Plant - collects water and fills up a bottle For additional plants, I have a couple ideas: Crimson Petal - emits a redstone signal in sunlight Savory Stalk - edible flower, grows in sand, good for deserts or beaches Singing/Humming Flower - increases growth rate of nearby crops and plants Oh! And let me shear it for moss. Just a few ideas. I enjoy how goofy the Sniffer is, and I want more reasons to grow one.
Using my limited Phantom knowledge... Phantoms could possibly spawn near bats in caves the more you explore said caves in the dark, with only their green eyes glowing to warn that they're nearby.
Something that would awesome for future updates: the Sniffer can find 1 or 2 new seeds if they are in the nether or the end. Perhaps a soul flower in the soul sand valleys and maybe something in either the crimson or warped forest (Perhaps Piglins or Hoglins will attack Sniffers so you need to look after them) If we get an End Update there could be a new seed that can only be obtained in the end with a Sniffer.
People are so dumb to vote for the Glow Squid for the reason that it can light up areas. They forgot that dynamic lighting does not exist in the vanilla game. They probably spent way too much time with mods that have dynamic lighting.
@@HungryWarden Moobloom: Explicitly stated to have interactions with Bees Iceologer: Explicitly stated to use Ice magic against you Glow Squid: PrETy...
11:10 It would be cool if the sniffer could also work like a metal detector. It would search for items that you could dig out with the brush. It would make the sniffer AND Archeology better at the same time.
I sure hope Oddessy would make a video of ranking all Minecraft biomes my favorite are Crimson Forest Mushroom Island Plains Birch Forest End Island Warped Forest
I think the Sniffer could also dig up Pottery Sherds, I mean, we can brush them out of the suspicious blocks, why can’t the Sniffer sniff them up? The sherds could also be considered ancient because they’re found in most structures. I was excited for the Sniffer because it’s adorable, but was let down by its uses. I hope Mojang does something like this to make my Ocena Ruins explorations more worthwhile!
I've got an idea for the Phantom! When they spawn, if they hit you, they give you the Insomnia effect. You can't sleep when you have this effect, and it also forces you into Cinematic Camera mode, which is where your camera has acceleration and deceleration, which makes it annoying to do things like mine or fight. A potion of Insomnia could be brewed using a phantom membrane. Making it harder to aim means making the Phantom more dangerous without changing its behavior, since its swooping attacks make it hard to track. Also, increase the amount of days without sleep you need to start spawning Phantoms from 3 to 5.
Idk how they could implement this well but making it possible to truly bring the sniffer back from the dead would be cool. Like if u breed and release(so they despwan) enough they start to spawn naturally.
By "ancient plants" I expected plants with unique properties, I guess they look pretty and unique but they could have made so much more, like plants that scare or attract some mobs, light sources, a 3 or 4 blocks tall flower, or zaza
So in most metrics I personally really like the phantom (blasphemy I know). I like how it looks, the way in which you fight it is different enough from most other mobs in the game that it comes with a learning curve which makes combat more dynamic, and phantom membrane given what it already interacts with is something I could easily see becoming used in something really cool in the future. The main issue I think is the spawning conditions an such have a proposal that could change that while still keeping the spirit of the mob in tact. I think Phantoms should only spawn at midnight during the full moon until morning with the game difficulty determining the amount of phantoms that spawn at a time, and the frequency at which they spawn. I think this would do two very important things for them as a mob and would likely remove a lot of the frustration that comes with how phantoms currently operate. First it would remove the annoyance of being punished for wanting to not sleep, and make them scarce enough to not see them as only an annoyance when they do (although the pavlovian response of rolling your eyes when a phantom spawns that most veteran minecraft players have might not subside). But more importantly make it both a valuable event for people wanting slow falling (or whatever they might add in the future), but also hopefully return some of the fear to early survival minecraft as phantoms would always spawn on the first night of a new world because the first night is always a full moon. Making either the rush for a bed or the need to hunker down that much more important which in my opinion has always been a cornerstone of the day 1 minecraft experience anyway so it would go along with that pretty well. It also wouldn't be too scare of an event because a full moon happens about every 2 hours and 40 minutes.
I think the best solution to the phantom spawning problem is to increase the unslept nights from 3 to 6. And even when they do spawn, they won't be in large numbers. They would still suck, but would be more manageable. At least that is what I think.
It's a temporary solution. The better solution in my opinion is that if they end up adding a sculk dimension, they should spawn there instead. In the meantime, this could be a decent solution.@@TheSultan1470
When they said the Sniffer would sniff up ancient seeds, I thought it meant something like Stardew Valley where you'd be able to get ancient seeds that grow into new crops. I think it would be really cool if they had done that instead, because then we would've FINALLY got a new type of crop.
I completely agree. Some people love it because it’s interactive, but it isn’t worth all of the fighting or crappy mobs it adds. I’d rather just not know there was a choice than have to make a decision and blame myself for the decision being bad.
Allays should function how alex's mobs crows do. when you place an item frame on a chest and put an item on it, they'll pick up and place any of that item into the chest.
Tbh I think that biome votes are infinitely better than mob votes, because we know that all biomes will eventually get updated, while we have no idea if any of the mobs will get added. Also the sniffer totally should have gotten more plants, like the question mark one in its trailer.
@@EmperorPenguin1217Or you could do that by just not being forced to do something in a game where you should be able to do what you want without a stupid badly designed mob punishing you for not being a wuss.
Well, it basically did since there was a command added to Java that allows you to change your reach length. But of course people still threw a massive tantrum about this even though Mojang tried to be fair.
the use of the Allay was so misinterpreted that i genuinely believe that the people who voted the allay are literal bird ponds like actually, during that mob vote i was still in bedrock and i was rooting for the Glare to be voted but people wanted "free diamonds" so they voted for the Allay because they thought if you could give the Allay a diamond it would give you like a stack but Minecraft said it themseleves "the allay will not find items from chests, and the allay cannot mine, the allay can ONLY PICK UP ITEMS FROM THE GROUND" WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE MINECRAFT COMMUNITY DID YOU GUYS HAVE HEARING LOSS FOR THAT SENTENCE.
1. Giving the Phantom Membrane the ability to give Levitation would work, actually. Since it's used to repair Elytras, give it about a minute to go up so you can begin flying with the potion's effect. 2. Bad Glow Idea: Glow Dye. Basically does the same thing as you said for the banners, but now it's every dye in the game. Glow Wool to make Glow Beds, Glow Carpets, Glow Banners, and Glow More! 3. For the two frogs, the Jungle Frog could be a Poison Dart Frog which drops Blue and comes in a crimson red variant that will try and kill, and an odd one: a mushroom island frog, which drops Red. 4. Love the idea for the Sniffer, and I have some extras. Keeping with the ancient feel, you can also dig up the Rose (could give the Rose Dye), Blue Rose (gives the old Capri Dye), a new-and-improved version of the Shrub (gives Spring Green or Chartruese) from older editions of Minecraft, and also perhaps the Paeonia (An alternative for Rose Dye).
I feel like another thing the Sniffer could do besides sniffing up flowers would be when a player is riding them with a saddle they can lead the player (slowly) to buried loot, whether that be regular buried treasure, excavation sites or even the new trial chambers to give the sniffer a use to those who are less interested in building. If you wanted to go further a sniffer could lead the player to an ancient structure which would seem to be it's original home? (how it knows where it is and how it got to the bottom of the ocean is one of the mysteries of the universe)
I love the idea of the new dyes but they would have to add hundreds of thousands of new color combinations for leather, which I know they don’t have to do manually, but it will still take a lot of time.
What if the phantom spawned like it does now but instead of attacking all the time, it flies around you making its screeching noise to annoy you. But it will start attacking you if you jump or attack it. Super weird but I like this idea of it not hurting you unless you do something simple like jumping
Here are a couple more improvements I've thought of: Phantoms only spawn above blocks of light level 0, so if an area is lit up no phantoms will spawn Sniffer plants can be harvested at any growth stage, which would essentially quadruple the number of sniffer crops. Also the ability to pick up and move the base of the pitcher pod
Reviving the lost dye colors would be a genius idea for the Sniffer!

Yes. Making it the nostalgic mob, that makes use of old textures in not just flowers but other items, would be amazing
Phantom changes:
make them biome specific (mountain biomes, above a very high Y level), they will have a nest there and will be neutral towards the player.
Here are some random thoughts & ideas I had for the Phantom:
• I had this idea that Phantoms can phase through any mob, but will damage said mob by doing so.
These are absolutely s-tier suggestions. Mojang, hire this guy.
All of the changes you made felt pretty flat (except the sniffer change with the new dyes that was a good idea kudos on that)
Yeah like Glow Squid bringing glow to the table. Glowing your armour trims, wool, dye, painting, and banners.

Yeah like, bamboo was most likely added because of the panda being voted for, which then a few updates later gets a wood variant. I don’t think that panda needs any major changes as well, it’s fine there being some biome specific animals that are just cool (like the polar bear)

Yeah what’s wrong with the Traitor Llama 🦙 and Glow Squid in the mob vote
I don't care how many people point out how the glow squid doesn't actually glow, I've always thought that more mobs should have luminescent parts like enderman and spiders that glow regardless of the light level, and it looks great on the glow squid

I wished the glow squid's ink sac could be used on color blocks(example Glowing red wool) and leather armor, and give the blocks a light level of 4.

One common suggestion I've seen is to let Phantom Membranes be used to craft invisible item frames.
Yeees, that would be super cool
I would say make the mambrane part of the end eye recipe, because the eye has a membrane and it would make a little harder to get to the end
Calls glow squids' uses solid.
Glowstone dust already existed and could've done the same thing.
Glowberries Also existed and could've done the same thing.
I'm also like, 99% sure that was the intent, because the Glow Item Frame is yellow, like Glowberries
Leather exists, that could have been used to craft dog armor.
Frogs eat spiders, they could scare spiders.

The only reason I’m okay with the armadillo is so I can name my wolf “O’Donnell” and give it purple armor
Then you should make it kill any fox in the area.
_insert the entire Starfox 64 script here_
I'd say that letting foxes attack zombie villagers is nothing but _detrimental,_ especially since you can't force them to sit like you can with wolves. Torch flowers should prevent mob spawns without making light, good for dark builds
the sniffer should also get a unique trim, and sherds it could pick up. those two are already considered ancient items, and I think increasing the pool to non-plant items would be nice. A decent batch for variety without overflowing the loot tables.

I mean look at beetroots...
(Also if the sniffer isn't gonna sniff up any usable plants, at least remove sniffer memory, literally why the fuck is there a feature to limit how many *cosmetic flower seeds* you can get?)
Personally, I'd give the sniffer a new kind of meat (its not a real life mob, so they can do that) thats better then steak so you have a reason to get it, and/or make it rideable by multiple players, and/or let us use it as mobile farmland.
Caught off guard by my favorite achievement “what the dog doing”
8:59 Icologer, gone but never forgotten.
Who the actual fuck voted for taiga?
I forgot who said it, but someone said it would be better if adding a mob completely overhauled one feature. Like how the armadillo overhauled wolves.
What if it was just visual or if the lighting only updated when it moved a block and not something like half a block. Idk though
Nice ideas! Hair I do personally like the designs of all the mobs, though but yeah they can improve on some. I am so excited to head into 1.21.
I wonder if 1.22-1.23 is going to have new biomes and new mobs like alligator in the swampland
A poison dart frog variant sounds really cool! They could also make it so that you can use arrows on the frog to make poison arrows since it's secretions have been used to make poison darts in real life!
Doctor4t made an excellent dart frog mod
I think for the phantom they should make it so if you sleep 6 nights in a row it spawns for another 6 nights so it makes you have to sit through night because right now you just kill 2 sheep and get 1 log and never have to deal with night again
i don't know why i haven't seen anyone else have this same idea yet, but i wish glow ink could be used to make glow wool and dyed lether armor. i want to make bioluminescent things that don't emit light.
11:03 got me cracking up bro
Just to clarify the very first mob vote was you can pick one and the rest will not be added ever but all other ones after that were you pick one to be the priority the add for the update and then the other two will be in some later update.
Example: frogs.
Torch arrows. You combine torchflowers with arrows to create torch arrows that can be used to place torches at a range.
Easy fix to the Sniffer.
So literally just the arrows with the glowing plants from Tears of the Kingdom fused to them? I forgot what they’re called.
One small thing they could do for Allays would be to add a rare "Golden Allay" variant, like the ones in Minecraft Legends. It wouldn't need to do anything, it could just be a rare thing like the Blue Axolotl, with a small chance to spawn one when you duplicate an Allay.
7:38 why did that scare me lmfao
the sniffer is such a cool and interesting creature in concept, i was so disappointed whenever it was implimented and became immediately useless apart from decoration. really hope it gets an overhaul sometime in the future
Dude I love your humour!
Maybe you can do a biome-ranking someday
For the Sniffer, I would like the plants to have a more practical use:
Torch Flower - light source (obviously), plant it on a magma block and it produces blaze powder
Pitcher Plant - collects water and fills up a bottle
For additional plants, I have a couple ideas:
Crimson Petal - emits a redstone signal in sunlight
Savory Stalk - edible flower, grows in sand, good for deserts or beaches
Singing/Humming Flower - increases growth rate of nearby crops and plants
Oh! And let me shear it for moss. Just a few ideas. I enjoy how goofy the Sniffer is, and I want more reasons to grow one.
2:45 - "Not exact the command didn't work :("
Using my limited Phantom knowledge...
Phantoms could possibly spawn near bats in caves the more you explore said caves in the dark, with only their green eyes glowing to warn that they're nearby.
Yeah I learn when the Phantom comes at night when they are just like bats and also they ambush when they don’t go to sleep
What if Sleeping at night can the hostile mobs leave you alone when you’re sleeping like zombie skeleton spider and even phantom
I feel like the Allay is okay, he is just way too rare making it not worth it to find him
Something that would awesome for future updates: the Sniffer can find 1 or 2 new seeds if they are in the nether or the end.
Perhaps a soul flower in the soul sand valleys and maybe something in either the crimson or warped forest (Perhaps Piglins or Hoglins will attack Sniffers so you need to look after them)
If we get an End Update there could be a new seed that can only be obtained in the end with a Sniffer.
People are so dumb to vote for the Glow Squid for the reason that it can light up areas. They forgot that dynamic lighting does not exist in the vanilla game. They probably spent way too much time with mods that have dynamic lighting.

One thing goat horns would be used for is adding horns on your helmet, purely decorative but cool
It could be like the beserker helmet from that one mod that has an effect where your damage and speed increase the lower your health is

I think adding the glow ink sac to fireworks should allow them to get extra bright on detonation.
I think the best solution to the phantom spawning problem is to increase the unslept nights from 3 to 6. And even when they do spawn, they won't be in large numbers. They would still suck, but would be more manageable. At least that is what I think.
Or just change their mechanics entirely. Currently, they really just take away from gameplay but they could add to it.
It's the exact same, just prolonging it
It's a temporary solution.
I feel like mojang should stop mob votes.
I completely agree. Some people love it because it’s interactive, but it isn’t worth all of the fighting or crappy mobs it adds. I’d rather just not know there was a choice than have to make a decision and blame myself for the decision being bad.
Why settle for one when we can have all with enough persistence
SHUT UP WITH THE "sToP tHe MoB vOtE" COMMETS, THEY ARE ANNOYING

Allays should function how alex's mobs crows do. when you place an item frame on a chest and put an item on it, they'll pick up and place any of that item into the chest.
I saw someone unironically say they need to add panda meat and I think he has the right idea
Nice, mmmm!
@@TheSultan1470 unfortunately, Mojang is with China so if they see it, they'll obviously get pissed and ask for its removal.
If I can eat rabbit I wanna eat panda
Tbh I think that biome votes are infinitely better than mob votes, because we know that all biomes will eventually get updated, while we have no idea if any of the mobs will get added. Also the sniffer totally should have gotten more plants, like the question mark one in its trailer.
How to improve the phantom:
*DELETE IT FROM THE GAME. SHOW NO MERCY.*
I bought a tiny Lego set last night that includes a Phantom and I'm excited for the revenge I can concoct with my numerous brick-based weapons
You can do that by sleeping
@@EmperorPenguin1217Or you could do that by just not being forced to do something in a game where you should be able to do what you want without a stupid badly designed mob punishing you for not being a wuss.
You’re so close to 200k it’s almost frustrating. I’ve been here ever since the 150 tips and tricks in SMM2. Keep going ❤
Crab 🦀 should have made it
Well, it basically did since there was a command added to Java that allows you to change your reach length. But of course people still threw a massive tantrum about this even though Mojang tried to be fair.

the use of the Allay was so misinterpreted that i genuinely believe that the people who voted the allay are literal bird ponds like actually, during that mob vote i was still in bedrock and i was rooting for the Glare to be voted but people wanted "free diamonds" so they voted for the Allay because they thought if you could give the Allay a diamond it would give you like a stack but Minecraft said it themseleves "the allay will not find items from chests, and the allay cannot mine, the allay can ONLY PICK UP ITEMS FROM THE GROUND" WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE MINECRAFT COMMUNITY DID YOU GUYS HAVE HEARING LOSS FOR THAT SENTENCE.
nope didn’t think that at all lmao
It made easier auto sorters so that’s why I did it 🤷🏻♂️

Something showed in the glow squid trailer was that people would become frozen staring at the glow squid-
I think that would be an interesting gimmik.
“Once a mob loses it will never be added to the game”
Frogs & Mangrove Swamps: are we a joke to you?
Here are a couple more improvements I've thought of:
Phantoms only spawn above blocks of light level 0, so if an area is lit up no phantoms will spawn
Sniffer plants can be harvested at any growth stage, which would essentially quadruple the number of sniffer crops. Also the ability to pick up and move the base of the pitcher pod
