    Being a GS fan, and still happy with my 1150, I always wondered why the advantage of a longitudinal boxer-layout is never mentioned: nimbleness due to lesser angle momentum when going through corners. Even in reviews about the R18 the nimbleness is often mentioned, but not why.

      I have owned 5 of these R11xx bikes. I love the opposed twin engines. I love how it lurches to the right when you accelerate. I just found these bikes too heavy to maneuver in a garage or slopes. I switched to sport bikes - Ducatis.

    New "Enduro Forged" wheels, 1.8kg lighter than the spoked wheels. Hmm...so that's bringing the 237kg down to 235.2kg (if the spoke is the same weight as the standard forged). Sounds good! One can never underestimate the light feeling of unsprung mass. Thank you Motobob for another great video!

      If you will use it for everyday riding or a lot of long distance travels in europe, the BMW is better choice. But if you want something for everything but not everyday, with fun and joy to drive, and dont care if you pay a little bit more in refuel, go for the V4S.
      I have a V4S, and really don´t care about the fuel consumption, it´s worth :) if driving long distances with more calm speeds it´s about 6,5L/100km. We need to see if the fuel consumption BMW provided is real or not.

    Good review. Thank you. The torque band of the GS is where most riders ride, and where you want the low speed grunt off road. And the low center of gravity and boxer engine help not falling over, and when you do, it's easier to pickup than the Tiger. A great advantage of the GS over others through the years has been its superior refined ride on pavement. I recently road a KTM Super Adventure and it was fun, poppier, but for a long ride it simply isn't as refined or comfortable. It will be interesting to see the reviews on the new GS to see if it retained this refinement. As always, how and where you ride is a bigger part of your bike purchase/selection decision than minor spec differences on similar class bikes.

    If the gearbox is under the engine and the ground clearance is the same as the old model then that would move those two huge jugs up higher in the frame correct? Unless those jugs weigh less than the gearbox then the center of gravity should be higher correct?

    Personally I am not 100% on the new look. Its ok is all I can say. It doesnt scream I am beautiful like a panigale or rugged like a 700 tenere and it doesnt look that futuristic to me either. The colour of the black and green definitely make it look more palatable though. The weight saving and slender look of the bike definitely makes it look as though it will be more managable and as for the electronics, besides the adaptable height adjustment I wouldnt care for anything else. I have never had an issue with checking my blind spots and always keep a fair distance from cars in front, so its not for me. If I owned a 1250GS I wouldnt be looking to sell my bike for this. I would definitely wait at least 3 uears until the price came down and after that time if the looks had grown on me then I would buy one.
    You have by far the best video on this so far, just the way you edit your videos along with the choice fonts and cut aways definitely makes it far more engaging than others. Anyway keep up the good work. 👍🏿

    There she blows! The GS Katana! But seriously, the old one is a great bike (haters gonna hate) and the best selling. The new one is unlikely to be a duffer and they have done a very good job with the weight. That is a remarkable achievement for a bike specced for two-up touring with mega luggage, off road. Like not far off a 2000's V-twin superbike (my SP1 was 200kg dry), and more power too... But while I suspect the basics are all good, I'm not a fan of the gizmos and Bosch-ification: keyless twaddle, flashing wing mirrors, connected dash, radar, 50 sub settings... They're all showroom features that distract on (or off) the road - gimme a stripped back version with decent shocks for £2k less! Bikes used to be safe from haranguing tech - an oasis of analogue calm and mechanical purity! But that's not just BMW's issue, its all modern bikes and cars...

    I just configured the new GS 1300 and it will come to nearly 30000 Euros ( exactly 29786) with Paniers, Topcase and in Green like shown in the commercial. Added a few bells and whistles. Well that is a huge price. But believe me, there will be a lot of new customers to BMW because even the new multistrada comes near this price. Myself, I will buy a 2023 GS Model as Trophy, even with everything I put in the configuration for the GS 1300. Have an offer and will save a lot of money. It is not a problem for me to go with 10 hp less😎. At last you spoke about Trophy option. I configured the new Gs1300 as Trophy and in the end, the price difference was under900 Euros because in the Option 719 the only difference to my configuration was that there were no individually manufactured cylinder heads.. This new GS looks cracking. Love the green and gold version. To me it’s clearly a GS, don’t know why others are comparing it to other bikes. Which other bike has a boxer sticking out the side?

    I wonder if the radar can be deactivated (maybe in enduro pro) I can imagine it will get anoying in single tracks where every bush is hoing to abruptly brake the bike for you thinking it is a car or an obstacle.
    I know just a handfull will do single track on this bikes but just a thought.

    I just hope when the large tank version arrives they move the indicators OFF the handgrips and allow adaptive cruise WITHOUT blind spot radar. If you ride off-road as I do on my Tiger 1200 Rally Explorer you do drop the bike a lot… the handguards cop a flogging as do the mirrors, so fitting the crash tested and proven double take mirrors and bark busters is a “must have”. I live with a constant alert on my bike saying blind spot radar failure… it’s a pain in the ass…!

    • @bens5186
      @bens5186 9 месяцев назад

      While they are at it give the “off-road” versions 21”/18” wire spoked wheels. Changing the colours on a bike doesn’t make it “off-road”… if triumph had a air filter you could actually change or a factory oil pre filter you could use I would say they have nailed it. Pulling the tank off every 2000km’s as you have sucked in a load of dust is more than a little frustrating. Hopefully BMW didn’t go and hide the air filter in a stupid place with this model change.

    • @bens5186
      @bens5186 9 месяцев назад

      The bike using the front radar to slam on the brake? That will be wonderful when pushing the bike hard through tight stuff… I hope they can have that switched off…. I love the idea of adaptive cruise but that’s ALL I want a radar for.

      @@motobob Thank you for your answer. I have read the article and it seems to be a very clever design, but in my opinion, having two different springs is not the same as dynamically adjusting the spring rate. I thought BMW would have overcome physics.
