- BMW Motorrad’s class-defining GS has received a major update for 2024 in the form of the new R 1300 GS.
Since releasing the R 80 GS over 40 years ago, BMW has been at the forefront of adventure bike development, and with sales skyrocketing since the early 2000’s, the GS has become a best-seller both here in Britain and beyond.

Now the time has finally come to reveal the R 1300 GS, ABR has headed to Berlin for the unveiling of this new bike from BMW to find out more. - Авто/Мото
Now I am even more happy with 2022 1250 GSA
The person who designed the headlight should be fired
The last BMW I got excited about was the 1100GS. But this one... ❤
Having ridden over 250,000 miles on GS’s I’m looking forward to riding the new version! 👍😀 Surprised to see you have to resort to your notes to remind you which was was which with the front and rear suspension!
Absolutely stunning !!
I'm glad they went lighter. I'm tired of throwing around my GSA. I have wanted a smaller displacement shaft drive boxer with current technology just because I want to shave off some weight but I will accept a larger displacement they weighs less.
BMW really killed their own 1300 GS bikes, i feel the new 900 series of GS bikes are significantly better, slightly less power, but alot less weight and way cheaper.
and more prettier
Very very nice overall! This is a must have!
Are the handlebar controls backlit?
Cool blacklight at the back ;-)
What’s the range of seat height for the Trophy variant please. Ie.. what’s the lowest one can have it in stock as well as with low seat option? Thank you.
lights looks better than when I saw in that leak, I wanna have it
I am not rich unfortunately but I will buy this bike for sure ….
That green and gold one in the background looks lovely.
Was initially meh about the looks, but the more I see it, the better it looks. Walk around help rather than the launch video. I thought the new boxer was going to be fully water cooled though.
I like this 100x better. Was really close to ordering a Multi. I hold off for a bit
Svelt and lovely generally. Don’t like wacky headlight and what’s all the black moulding below screen ?
Need to see ‘in the flesh’ but well done to BMW for slimming it down. I’m on my tenth Boxer so I’ll be in the queue no doubt in due course.
I believe that is where the 'radar' assisted cruise control sensor located.
I would need a year or so before purchase, due to the normal teething problems, so what next for the 1250 GS?? Will it slide into insignificance perhaps, only launched in 2019. Still happy with my 2015 LC, bullet proof.
The Trophy color scheme is a real beauty, the more i videos I watch of this new model, the more I like it.
Have they mentioned a timeline for the launch of the Adventure?
Love it already
Very beautiful the new v-strom !!!
HI, when arrive the ADVENTURE MODEL....? with the biggest tank....etc...?
Nice.😅 looking good. More interested in the R 12 NineT but. 😊
Now is a good time to buy a 1250.
I really really really like it but am waiting for the Adv
Love the look of the Trophy, but come on Motorrad backlit controls!
V nice
I don’t care for the looks, headlight looks stupid
While it doesn’t make me want to trade in my ‘18, there are good improvements all 'round. I really (!) hope the radar crap is optional. My wife's car has it and it’s tried to kill me. I quickly learned how to shut the whole thing off.
I have a BMWR1250R. Nimble and handles well for its size and weight. Excellent bike, but in many ways lighter machines are better for the road. I think BMW could go down the path between the big boys and the medium boys, where the medium boys are the better for overall riding.
I don’t think I’d mind blind spot monitoring and radar cruise control. But that automatic breaking? Yeah I’d turn that off first thing. Sounds dangerous
more power and torque, lower c of g, better gearbox, more compact, even better agility...hopefully still the legendary bmw ergos and after sales (In my experience anyway).. just depends how it rides!
Is it indeed smaller/shorter?
I wonder whether they fixed the abs units that like to melt and the esa units that like to give up.
5 year warranty should cover that
@@desheathcote714 but it’s still a huge inconvenience if your a long way from home. It doesn’t happen when the bike is sat stationary in a garage.
You are quick! 🤙🏼At least it looks much better than the 1250. Oh, first. 😂
Unfortunately for me, I really really don't like the front part .... especially those lights! Otherwise great!
That Radar Unit at the rear looks a bit vulnerable, first drop and that’ll be cracked with a huge bill to replace, I hope it’s optional - I have it on my car, its useful on the motorway when cruising but who buys a GS for that? Remember, most radar systems disable when rain spray is too much rendering it useless when you need it most. The collision detect will be fun when filtering, not sure how that will sense close proximity. Can’t say I’m overwhelmed tbh. I just wish they’d make a shaft-driven 1000 boxer, light weight should be where they focus now to kill the competition (Tiger 900 etc). The typical demographic of GS’ers today are getting too old to work the 1300 size and weight - definitely off-road a younger rider can’t afford the price tag unless PCP’d up and worrying about their mileage allowance. I’ll stick with my 1250 for a few more years (love it), then I’d drop down to something that is really lighter (not just 12kg’s). I really don’t like that stupid light nor the rear end, and 1 litre less in fuel on the standard GS .. what’s that all about ? 😮, surely that’s where the weight has been shaved off. 3 GS’s now (I don’t like the size of the GSA) but reducing the standard fuel capacity without really reducing MPG is just wrong on a bike with such comfort touring credentials. I really do think it’s the Emperors new clothes. Ah well, I’ll wait until Motorcycle Live to see it in the flesh (or ABR festival if i want to pay the 70 quid day ticket to see it).
So where is power button then?
What about the GS 1300 adventure ????
Ikke nok til at jeg bytter inn min R1250R. Men fin sykkel.
Love itttttt
Horrible headlight. The rest of the design isn't better.
New masculinities...
🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Wow!!
Now we know, BMW is able to build a light 650cc single enduro as there was in the 80', 90' ties.
Cost..? $30k+…? For adventure version
Price?
I would never buy the first year of a new redesign only because I’ll want to wait for all the aftermarket accessories to catch up 😂
They haven’t been too generous wit a Centre Stands.
Very nice overall! Looked much better in reality than those leaking photos in advance
Reality? On youtube?
Wait and see what the GSA brings
thinking what Triumph will do go to a 1400 Ill just stay with my 18 1200.Tiger do mostly tarmac but that 1300 GS will be way more offroad capable
The problem is not the headlight, actually it looks nice... the real issue with all these new big adventure bikes is the adaptive cruise control sensors. The multistrada and the 1290 have the same problem that sensor is UGLY.
That GS trophy paintwork is the biz. That bike will move the goalposts, again. Ducati? Try again!
Personally, I think it's pretty amazing. Needed a fresh look.
How do the BMW spoked wheels work compared to Triumph. I've read so much about Triumph owners having spokes breaking but haven't heard the same about the BMW system.
Elon Musk likes this new design
X 😆😆😆!
I would hate to be the first owners. Can you imagine how many recalls and problems this bike will have?
I cant. Because there won't be any. Please, tell me about all the problems you think it will have and why. I'm genuinely curious
@@AdhamHossam165 having owned 4 new BMW’s since 1989 to 2023 every one had multiple warranty claims and lost count of the recalls. Two bikes experienced front brake failures. However I’ve also owned Two Harley Davisons with no recalls or breakdowns. Ummm 🤔 BTW, if I could purchase a tech free 1300GS I’d still be looking for another GS.
@@MrD-moto I almost believed you until you tried to tell me Harleys are reliable. Are you a Harley sales rep or something?
1. There is a 5 year warranty, so what's the problem?
2. Luckily everybody don't think like you, as that would lead to no sales.
@@AdhamHossam165 I must of been lucky 😁 so far ! I know they don't have a great track record, however I have a 2012 V-Rod, probably the most over engineered Harley ever by Porche engineering. And a 2021 Fat Bob which after 4000 miles, nothing has fallen off, so far... Probably cursed myself now 🤔
As a 1250 GSA HP owner I think I´ll be looking at the KTM 1290 to replace my bike
Bu motor ençok türkiye’de satıyor ve biz sizlerin 3 misli para ödüyoruz.. Türkçe altyazılı yayınlamanız çokmu zor?
They have followed what Triumph did with the 1200
Not sure !
Less muscles it appears to be...still prefer the R1250GS
is that the new Suzuki V-strom? 🤪🤨
BMW going the Honda way, looks more like a Honda 1200 crosstourer
Just order the s1000xr
Very promising! If it seemed that it would be dethroned as King, this, new, iteration certainly solidifies its position on the throne of all round Adventure bike King.
I think the bike looks much better and fit then before. Only small negative is the front ugly light. I will still ride my 2023 Vstrom 1050, the poor mans GS 😀
Are there any new "innovations", have they brought anything to market that no other manufacturer has to date? I watched the launch, and I don't see anything "new and innovative". It was like watching the launch of a new iPhone, there doesn't appear to be anything "groundbreaking" - Is there?
Smaller gas tank? Punish 80% of your GS customers so you can sell more Adventures? Amazing bike (I've had 3 GS's) but I sure wish they would lock the marketing guys in a closet and let the engineers/PM's make these decisions...
The telelever suspension is so much more visible.. it looks ugly
Looks improved - just, smaller tank - no no, More technology - please no! Collision avoidance - good luck… my car has this and tried to steer me into a wall when the road was clear.
You are talking bull 💩 collision avoidance doesn't make you steer. Maybe you should be on suicide watch....
I am sorry but I hate it 😒 I am sticking with my 23 GSA 1250 Rally
Not impressed...having owned a 2010 & 2021...crash bars should have a crossed brace...the radar should be optional...more to go wrong...looking at Ducati for a test drive..big question is...what are we paying extra for that the competition does better?
Radar is optional
The more tech bikes get it'll soon be a case of the machine riding the rider. If you need all that stuff then in my opinion you're not a biker. Hill start, anti wheelie, cornering aids, tyre pressure sensors, for the lazy buggers who cant be arsed to check n' maintain their bikes etc etc. I ride my bikes, not, the other way round. I'm not very impressed with the looksnof the 1300. I love GS's by the way. Sadly cant afford one.
I don’t like the new headlight, it’s not part of the bmw dna like giving a Porsche 911 rectangular lights 😢
Never ever buying a Gen 1 new models from any manufacturer…. They full of problems . Waited for 2-3 years after better models that fixed all problems
You might want to change the post to 2024 instead of 2023...lol
A lot to like about the bike, however surely the elephant in the room is that front light, horrible looking.
Horrible, I don't discuss it technically, but esthetically it is horrible, it loses its originality and looks like a bad copy of a large Suzuki or Honda
R.I.P. BMW GS . This is a shameful what they did to GS.
The GS still looks and weighs like a cow, it really is the most anticipated motorcycle in Germany, although I doubt that too
Look like a Suzuki from the front end, unf. Big fault of getting rid of assimetric lights😢
Am team Honda Africa twin
That seat is not low enough and not wide enough and there is no factory training wheel option. How is BMW planning to accommodate the continuously trending surge of wussies?
100% dislike the new Susuki 1300GS it's look light with out personality. And also the green /gold one is very ugly from my point of view
Looks as if they have hired the chap who designs the god awful looking headlamps for KTM... If it were not for the fugly headlamps I would have fancied a KTM long ago. I'll stand with my 2019 850 GS until they come to their senses again.
Ugly exhaust, ugly front light....killed the gs character 😢
comedy?
😢😢😢wtf!!!
Far from designed from the ground up, same TFT riddled with connectivity issues, same indicators and now with the rear light removed you have the crap indicators especially when braking!, Same front forks and rear suspension!, same spoked wheels so rust will be an issue, looks like BMW are using the same marketing BS as Apple and selling an all new product that is not all new! Far from it. For me I will be changing brands, cough cough cough Ducati Multistrada.
Wheels and suspension are all new. What was the rust issue on the spoked wheels? Spokes or hub rusting?
Don't like at all...😢.....X space...as a comment above mentioned Elon Musk was involved in design....
the front is horrible
Nope. 🫣
How to castrate a bike "a la BMW" 😕. Awful. So disappointed.
Looks awful. Ktm and Ducati will be laughing their bollox off.
Sorry but the bike looks 🤮 old one better
Ugly bike.... and i dont buy in to that over hyped over priced BMW rubbish
😭😭🚽🤢🤮
Ugly, going to look like KTM, pillow seat looks very uncomfortable, nothing for tall guys like me, will stay with my 1250 GS
"Hotly anticipated "....lol. Who actually believes this rubbish?
