It's so interesting, the comments in English saying how beautiful Rio is and the comments in Portuguese saying how sad this view is to them Brazilians. Truth is that Rio is a city of huge contrasts as this video shows, very beautiful and huge social problems as the city looks like a huge slum. This great footage shows it all, very impressive and well done.

I live in Denver CO and definitely wanting to visit Rio for the first time ever. That's a long journey; flying overnight.

Recommend you all the Santos Dummont airport approach, it is here in Rio as well.

I did! I had some domestic flights that arrived and departed from SDU. What a treat! I got some pretty good photos after takeoff and before landing. I just got back from the Copa America in Brazil.

Conheci o Rio há uns 20 anos atrás - gente boa, prestativa e feliz! que pena que essa horda de políticos desgraçados transformou a cidade em um lixão, uma aglomeração humana caótica e desordenada. O problema é que por mais que tente, não consigo ver uma solução para o problema que não seja terrivelmente impopular. Ou seja, trata-se de um paraíso condenado.
Muito triste sem dúvida. Quando você foi ao Rio, foi de avião?
A cidade começou a virar favela a partir da administração Brizola-PDT e dai seguido por Cezar Maia dentre outros politicos, e, vem piorando!

I have landed at least 150 tines in Rio, 747, 767, 737, worked in Vitoria 200 miles north of Rio for years. Vila Vehla, known as Little Rio.

@@airlapse Santos Dumont is a local airport, no international's flights land there. Have made that landing a few times on the VIX to GIG flight.

E tem cidades pelo mundo que também são horríveis, mas o Rio e São Paulo é a entrada do Brasil para o mundo, e o Rio de janeiro pelo Galeão , não é uma imagem bonita não, há pelo Santos Dumont é um espetáculo.

Como todo respeito ao povo carioca, mas que vídeo decepcionante! Achei que iria ver lindas paisagens, Cristo de cima do avião, algumas praias... Mas tudo que vi foram lugares estranhos ! :(
Thiago: os aviões quase sempre vêm pelo norte, que é favelizado e superpopuloso. Vôos que vêm do Sul - Buenos Aires, por exemplo - têm mais chances de sobrevoar áreas litorâneas e montanhosas. Fato é que os pousos e decolagens realmente espetaculares (e bota espetacular nisso) chegam ou partem do Aeroporto Santos Dumont, não do Galeão.
Isso é no que dá fazer justiça social pra todo mundo investindo na ampliação dos bolsões de miséria (Bolsa família). Essas pessoas acabam se tornando vítimas de políticos desonestos que se utilizam dessa falsa ajuda, (na verdade são migalhas perto do que poderiam ter se tivessem uma educação de qualidade) aos pobres para poderem se perpetuar nos cargos públicos e continuar roubando, pois a maioria das pessoas pobres são sustentadas pelo Estado que ainda incentiva o aumento da taxa de natalidade com bônus extra para cada criança que nasce...
