I still think that the Warriors' defense is the reason why they are winning this series. For that reason, I think Draymond Green is the difference maker in this series.
Definitely under valued they are so good on defense. But you have to understand that the media is all in on KD so they are saying that he has no help to make him look good.

Green said he lost 20 lb after his constant injuries this season helped a lot. He gained a lot of weight and it impacted his play. Now he’s back to his DPOY form

This video is amazing! In high school, my coaches emphasized both spacing and player movement, which was an inefficient offense. I didn't know why it felt so off until I watched this video.

its mind blowing how much the offenses has changed in jsut 3 years. 3 years ago a simple pindown would get an open shot for curry but now teams are learning fast so the warriors got to do some crazy stuff like linking arms and confusing the defense while running a marathon every game. Oh and the rockets are now a lottery team

Warriors players everytime they play must have insane amount of game sense to be able to identify when to slip the screen, when to screen and pop, when to pass to where to pass it, when to switch on the defense, when to double team, yet they play like it's easy.
That's a result of good coaching and tons of practice. But they do have a cast of basketball nuts with very high bball IQ. As much as everyone hates them winning every year, you have to respect the work they put in.
It’s pretty easy to analyze this. One team had insane amount of talent, another has a couple great players, some solid role players, and a lot of journeymen. Rockets had to be creative to make up for the insane talent gap
Naah the problem is that the gm of the 🚀 is an analytic nerd it's more 3's than 2s. He can only signed players who is more focuses in 3point shooting and driving.

He 100 percent is an analytic nerd. But when your completion is 4 hall of famers and a finals MVP you have to get creative or you lose. If the rockets play traditional against the warriors they lose every single time. This creative approach took them to 7 games and might have won if Chris Paul didn’t get hurt. Give dantoni the warriors roster and he isn’t playing the same way he is now with the rockets

Also Mike D'Antoni is offensive genius and godfather of 3pts and offense in mid 2000s to 2019. The problem is that he cannot figured on making 2nd option on offense is the 3s are not going in, very predictable coach, not good rotation, and very weak defense. One thing for sure is the gsw front office is very great starting from laughing stock in 2000s in 2013 by picking curry klay barnes and draymon, signing big players like lee iggy, dlo, and durant, also great role players like shaun, McGee, young, and bogut, into championship contender, and hiring coach like mark jackson and stever kerr. It maybe tooks years to developed but the outcome of their plans is success winning 3 championships in 2010s decade.

The same could be said about golden state. Without a salary cap spike and getting Durant they might have never won. You can argue they were a jump shooting team that only won because of injuries to the Cavs in 2015, and an unprecedented salary cap spike in the 2016 off season

Thunder and Rockets tried to change Carmelo into a 3 point guy and the 3rd or 4th scoring scoring option.
The man was very good at isolations and people complained he did it so often. But the shots keep going in.

Well He is 19th all time in career points and also 19th all time in PPG.
Any decent player can put up good numbers on terrible teams. The only teams he was ever on that were good were the Nuggets teams, and he ruined that for himself. The guy has always had a huge ego that wasn't justified. He was overrated, and he's out of the league for a good reason. Melo tried to play isolation basketball, and he's terrible at being the first option. He can't pass, he can't rebound, and he can't play defense. The only thing he was ever good at was shooting, and even then he was streaky. He made everyone around him worse.
He got 24.8, 6.3, 3.1. As a Nugget.

Carmelo Anthony is what got the Nuggets back into the playoffs.

Interesting clip. 5:37 Quick note, the Rockets adjusted to Steph lifting Dray to become the switch-man. Instead of Tucker continuing to run up and set the on-ball, Tucker would curl across to the opposite corner/wing and then Steph’s man would run up to set the on-ball (achieving the proper switch).
What I’m getting from this is that the Warriors have so many good players that any one of them can draw attention at any given time and since any of them can score quickly as soon as they have an opening, it’s really difficult to prioritize who you should be focusing your defense on.
Well Dray sucks offensively so it can be exploited 5 on 4 except slacking of Dray opens up the passing lanes he's so skilled at hitting.

This is really good content.
Most teams can't play with the improvisation the warriors do. Not that they can't cut and move off the ball, but teammates need to play alongside each other for years before they understand each other like that. Nobody as of yet has a core of 3 players that have played together for at least 7 years (Steph, Klay, and Draymond). I'm also fairly certain nobody has as many players that have played on the team for at least 5 straight years (Steph, Klay, Draymond, Livingston, and Igoudala). You can't improvise this much without players who understand their teammates natural tendencies in a variety of situations and where their looking to go in those situations. When you have a group of guys who can do all that everyone else can just slide into the scheme more easily but it would be impossible to just collect any group of NBA players and immediately start playing like that.
MAYBE the Bucks could play like this but I'm not certain they're core all has 5 years a piece yet. The bucks try and hybrid both systems though since they've got a mutant like Giannis on their team.
you have a good point, but how many role players have we seen over the past years get plugged in and look like all-stars? i mean, this is the same team that won with javale mcgee and swaggy p playing big minutes in spurts. even in the game 6 against the rockets, they got big minutes from their bench with no iggy and basically no curry. part of it is chemistry, but a lot of it is the system (and being extremely versatile and being snipers). i mean, let's not act like steve kerr didn't play/coach under pop's motion offense and jackson's triangle offense. both are very concept heavy rather than play design. and even then, them and the celtics are by far the smartest/most efficient on ato's.
@@rjgraddy11 Swaggy P and Javale are role players that do something very specific and do it on a very elite level. Swaggy shoots 3s and Javale rebounds and rim protects. Javale in particular as I can only think of 3 nba players better at rebounding than he is with certainty, Jordan, Drummond, and Gobert.
@@DarkKnightofHeaven very true. my point is, how many people wanted those guys? like, javale, while everyone knows he's athletic (and underrated smart), has been the poster-child of shaqtin a fool for nearly a decade. and swaggy p is swaggy p... but you see dudes like mccaw or clarkson, or javale stay for a couple years and parle their years into better deals with other teams. while i can't say some don't pan out, how many are utilized with the same effectiveness that they were with gsw? not saying they're scrubs and not a knock on them, but you don't see their same productivity in their 10 minutes on the court with the warriors vs 25+ minutes on other teams.

People are so scared of letting James Harden finish at the rim that defences close in on him as soon as he drives and leave these rock solid shooters wide open; Harden averages so many god damn assists because the defenders want him to pass.

Jason Jia Well no one said it automatically equals wins, but it helps a fuckton on that court. Curry, Klay, and KD have an insane amount of gravity to them that the second they pass the half court line, the defender gotta d the fuck up or their giving up 3 points. Of course, the game plan of the Warriors helped, but I believe the 3 point ability that the Warriors had with those 3 was the biggest factor. Anyways, Ik I’m a year late and KD has left, but that’s my 2 cents.
@@joeasuncion2891 the things is, even with a near full all-star team might still not be enough to play like the warrior. they need atleast 1 or 2 players with good off-ball movement and can shoot 3 to spread the floor to play like the warriors. definitely not someone like westbrook

That was pretty accurate i don't think any of it would say be random for thw warriors but I would say a odd algorithm to when and where the screen based on what 5 are on the floor so with the hampton 5 line-up there tends to be a off ball screen in the mid range for klay or Steph to navigate around and normally done so by green or iggy , now 2ndly I'd also say in transition or before a full half court set they do a high screen normally about 35 ft from the basket this almost always tends to be a shooter to shooter pick so normally klay to steph or kd as a rotating pick while iggy or green slide down into the arc for potential rebounds to long 3s or for the next transition of the offense the half court curl and pick scenario i stated above and with your other analytics id say its roughly 15 to 20% of their offense . now since the rockets scheme to me is far less interesting i wont over analyze them . i would make a suggestion to also analyze the bad teams in the nba like the magic , the twolves, the kings and the pelicans just to see if we also have comparible outlooks there aswell since its easier to analyze what you watch more of the top teams will have a more in depth scouting report the bottom teams tend to be overlooked with good offenses just not the talent to execute or lack of familiarity i mean by that bad teams tend to rotate the most players per season and those that dont lack trade assets or talent to acquire more talent.

That's not true. Rockets do a great job of defending the warriors. Look at all of their games the past 2 years, it's rarely blowouts, the margin of victory is around like 6 points and they keep each other well below their season averages.

Also, cp3 is great and has a high bball IQ. We take the most efficent shots. 3s, layups, freethrows. Since we dont have the talent we maximize efficiency. Imagine if we had a Klay thompson type smh. Golden State Warriors are at their best when they take their own Center off the court, but you still have your TRADITIONAL CENTER still on the court.
Is there a chaotic neutral offense?
It's only the giveaway fouls and freethrows that improve Houston's efficiency. That's why they are up in arms when they don't get those fouls.
To be fair though Houston intentionally built their game around those freethrows, probably with some rigorous statistical analysis. In a perfect world the game should be called the same way during the regular season as in the playoffs, and if nothing else it highlights how much referees effect the game. The real question is whether those differences in calls are consistent or random.
Amen to that. As a Bay Area native who stopped watching basketball after the Chris Mullen era, I came back because of the way the Warriors play. The winning certainly helps, but if the warriors were playing isolation heavy ball with a sneaky (and admittedly skilled) reliance on fouls, I wouldn’t be watching even if they were winning. Watching Harden and the Rockets is painful and infuriating. Chris Paul isn’t much better. That hunting for fouls BS shouldn’t be part of the game, and if it is the game should be changed. It’s irritating to watch.

What I'm hearing is that GSW is unfair because they have the talent to play multiple offensive styles that no other team can match. Thus, making playing quality defense against them near impossible, whereas they can create defensive gameplan to stop or slowdown opponents considerably.
Adding Kevin Durant PISSED the majority of NBA Players off because they knew that Durant is like a Human Cheat Code, 7-foot professional scorer that plays the opposite from SPLASH BROTHERS.
Houstons big flaw is its dependence on isolation. Harden has a bad day, the whole team has a bad day.
