    Driver error... Having your wife as a spotter is a double whammy 😂😅

  • @elephantom12
    @elephantom12 Год назад +173

    This is your fault. If you want to spread it out thin going forward then you need to start driving forward so the heavy material doesn't pile on the gate while it's flapped open at the bottom. If you wanted to dump this all in that one spot then you should have the doors completely open from the middle and secured on either side completely out of the way so the material obviously doesn't have an obstacle. You had thousands of pounds piling up on the door, you weren't going forward, what did you think was going to happen? You're lucky they keep replacing it I'd tell you to kick rocks

      He was waiting for the gravel to go to the back to start falling out before driving. You need to watch this again.

    • @Iceman-Iceman
      @Iceman-Iceman 5 месяцев назад

      @@JohnDoe-fg2oqIf individual was spreading then the chain should have been let out more on the gate, then start to move forward and stop raising the trailer, material was starting to fall towards back gate, with momentum of driving forward would have moved material backwards without all at once all material falling backwards breaking the gate
      Then as material emptied out of trailer then gently raise trailer to move material gradually towards back of the trailer
      Simple physics and common sense together as in this case makes no mistakes
      The other way it's operator error
      If he was dumping material in one area, not spreading, he needed to open gates in which he clearly forgot or did not know he needed to do
      Either way operator error

    • @johndias6614

      I would consider this partly operator error, partly loader error partly manufacturing isdue. I personally would have raked it level and toward the tailgate first. I feel the design of the latch could have been designed better. I'm currently looking at several brands of dump trailers and see design and quality all over the place. You get what you pay for and the cheap trailers do cut corners.

    Obvious design flaw there. The center latch on those "barn door" style spreader gates should be 2 or 3 horizontal 5/8 or 3/4 inch diameter sliding pins, a good foot long in order to take that kind of stress. Nothing some welding, bar stock and schedule 40 black pipe can't fix.

  • @samwilliams9374
    @samwilliams9374 10 месяцев назад

    The way you have your gate set up with the chains only opening just a little is your issue. Your set up to spread material down a drive way. Where a little comes out at a time while your moving. When you went to dump the material bridged up not allowing more to come out and by fully lifting caused 10,000 pounds of material to hit your gate and blow it open. Next time when you want to dump in one spot you need to open your doors and latch them to the side then dump or if your careful you can leave the chains off which would allow the gate to hinge all the way up allowing most if not all your material out without breaking your trailer. Best recommendation would be to open both doors and latch them back tight to the side of the trailer then dump.

    Smh I remember my first time around a dump bed trailer & messed up. First by driving to slow & then I had the common sense to ask someone with more experience to walk me through how they do it & things they learned over the years. Valuable knowledge at 14 & is still just as viable as today. First lesson he needs to learn is get rid of the ego & ask for help when you don't know something. Second a bigger checkbook doesn't offset stupidity. Third, stop being lazy & help the load down by hand as needed so you don't shift your center of gravity too fast. It only takes half a heartbeat for something to go wrong & someone get badly hurt or killed. Like here what if when it shifted that much weight all the way back it picked the trucks rear wheels off the ground & causes everything to move running over someone or crushing them. Their injury or death would be on your head & that's not something anyone is prepared to deal with

      It's a spreader gate, it hinges at the top so you can spread the load. No cam lock at the top, when the load hit, it blew the doors out.

    You have to start pulling forward slowly when unloading. Clearly operator error 😂

    Its not the trailer. Its the operator.

    That tailgate is not designed to have that much weight on it

      The trailer has 10,000 lb hauling capacity it is a 14000 pound trailer the media was no bigger than a 57 stone the tailgate spreader was set at 4 in the manufacturer of the trailer saw the video and replaced it free of charge of course they said that has never happened before I will say you get what you pay for if you buy a lesser expensive trailer you and save $5,000 upfront but it cost you more in the back in

    People today will use a scissors like a hammer and get mad when it doesn’t cut. The doors literally have a locking pin so you leave them fully open when dumping. Notice how the doors are vertically mounted and not horizontally at the top like a DUMP TRUCK. You use the equipment wrong, that’s on you.

      The dump trailer has a 2-way gate tailgate spreading is one of those options. Gravel asphalt millings I showed the video to the manufacturer they said it was a defective gate and replaced it.

    It's a dump trailer not a tri-axle. I've seen many inexperienced users do this. Live and learn. Sometimes the hard way and sometimes the expensive way.

      For the last ten years I've had three different dump trailers never had a problem with tailgate I finally buy me a brand new trailer direct from the manufacturer told them exactly what my intentions to do with it and they said no problem they have replaced the back gate three different times

      I do this regularly with my Texas pride dump. Knock on wood but no issues yet. I’ve never even hear of this happening. The spreader gates are supposed to be designed for this.
