How do the 186 heads flow, or what's the best flow numbers you can get out of them and power gains on sbc 400

One double hump I didn't hear you mention is the 370 casting with accessory holes. How are they with intake runner size and flow?

How expensive are these porting levels? I’m building a 355 with 291 heads and looking for the most power I can gain.

Far more expensive than buying modern heads and not near as good.

How can you say the CNC system is at much higher cost when you have the program and your running each head for 4hours each. When it would take you personally 10 times as long as the machine takes?

Having used fuellie heads in the early 90s they are 60s technology! Even the 292s are early 70s.
Different numbers have different issues, none are bad but some are better than others.
But an early 90s Dart 2 head was so much better than some 292 F5000 heads I had. And had a LOT more meat to port as well. I have seen to many fueliies of the day strike water. And after being cut the decks bend. So you have to put a bloody great dome into the chamber for compression. Which in itself is a major problem with combustion. A small dome ['11-1] piston to me was the compromise and a damn sight more reliable as well
These days you can but way better heads dirt cheap. The China heads are not great but a bloody sight better than all of these old heads.
The only time that the original heads are usefull is in historic racing,, and those engines cost a LOT more money to build and maintain.

Most Double Humps are 64cc chambers.. a flat top piston will give you 10:1 to 1. Some Double Humps are 60cc factory chambers. Head performance is measurable in CFM via a FlowBench.. and Brezenski .. the guy here... Has a flowbench. World Products is the one who sells the Sportsman 2 ... not Dart.

@@granbordeaux6955 Fuellies are between about 62cc some late 327s] and 72cc [early 70s 350]. You can cut them smaller but the decks get thin. You have to know what they were from before you start. There was many versions, most 1.94 1.5.
Flat top? 10-1 Maybe with single valve relief pistons, never with dual valve reliefs.
Dart 2s MADE by World Products were a good deal better head all around. And yes reputable shops told me the flow numbers. Plus they had nice thick decks, screw in studs, and raised rocker cover rails, raised exhaust ports. A good deal heavier because of all that. And yes I have had ex F5000 292s and the Darts were a good deal better.
Talking with a engine builder doing historic Camaro engines and $8000 pair of 'good' heads are outflowed some of the better China heads. Which are closer to $800 a pair
And these days they are a fairly basic head in comparison to what is available now, and better they are in alloy generally. A quarter of a century in development,, and that in 23 deg. Then you start with the more rolled over heads which have all the better and smaller chambers, shaft rockers etc etc. And do not need a lumpy piston to put the fire out with all its extra weight.
And yes using this modern components in reality makes as much if not more than any OEM style LS engine. Most speedway small blocks world wide are still SBC

@@ldnwholesale8552 There are no 72cc "Fuelie" heads ... Open Chamber heads are 70's vintage Smog Heads.. not performance heads. And ...yes... 60cc Double Hump heads were available from Chevrolet.. bone stock.. uncut.. in the Early 60's. Most Fuelie Heads/Double Hump were 64cc's.
