It's all belted in the 5th octave on closed vowels. "Never Go Back" also has a hell of a chorus. "My Heart is Broken" too. The main difficulty is that the choruses of these songs include long vocal lines that require crazy breath support. And the phrasing does not make it any easier up there. I wonder how she does it, especially in live performances after running around the stage and headbanging.
What I love about watching the evanescence lives is that her songs are very hard to sing, and it ALWAYS seems like her voice is going to crack, but it doesn't, and I'm always like tense hoping that it won't break LMAO

This is a hell of a hard song to sing even for a woman's range, she sounds strained but this usually happens with most rock singers live, as a musician I can tell from experience that most of the time you can't hear yourself properly above the overall "noise" which makes u sing way louder than usual and necessary cuz we get fooled by the noise, that makes u sound strained or raspy which is badass for me cuz I prefer a more aggresive style of singing, but I know it can suck really bad for a clean and smooth voice like hers. Good performance though.
I agree. However, other singers make it work. Because they have better technique. Amy Lee has always sounded out of breath live, and I cannot listen to all of her fans saying she sounds great, etc. She most of the time does not, and I say that as a big evanscence fan! Her accoustic sets are very good though. Her voice is beautiful, and I wish she had worked to make her sound better live (improve her breathing technique).
