    That is my perfect tone. Doesnt hurt that the bass looks mint. Nice work

    What's the song at the beginning? The bass line SLAPS...no, not that way...

    Love those tape wounds!

    I think this Gibson looks super-cool, sounds awesome too. The tapes are a revelation for me -I have the LaBellas fitted to a five string SR1305 and they also look super cool! The biggest difference apart from the looks is the sound of them and their playability due to the lower tension though. I think they sound amazing. They have a sort of acoustic quality that gives a kind of woody tone with loads of low end - sort of in-between flats and rounds. I might be talking crap but to my ears they seem to have less unwanted overtones than wounds in the lower neck as well. At gig volume they sound great and really cut through without the fuzzy woof you can get from true flats in some venues. It's opened up some new and very interesting sounds on that bass. Highly recommend people give them a try, despite the price in the UK - great strings.

    I'd just like to point out (for those who might not know us all by face) that the talented gent playing the country tune at the end is not me (Dave) - His name is Jason and he is the one who graciously supplied us with the Dingwall ABZ featured in another video =0)

    Just installed two TBHZ on my Gibson EB 2014 and they sound great.

    I put a set of those La Bella Tapewounds on an acoustic fretless 🤌

    I'm a big fan of short scale basses. I have a custom built MM Sterling style bass with passive electronics. And as i can say, shorter scale make my bass sounds more fuller than regular 34inch bass

      The lower string tension results in more harmonic content...people think a shortscale will sound small or thin compared to a longscale, but that couldn't be farther from the truth

    I just got one finally. I put La Bella flats on it and a Hipshot full contact bridge. I really dig the stock pickup in this bass so I left it.

      You got it right, the pickup's not the problem, the bridge is

    Just love the sound of that bass/pickup combo. I am going to do the same mods on my Gibson, but I do have one question about the push-pull knob. I am only interested in the varm, rounder sound, and it is not clear to me what the pick up's default sound is. Is the warm sound or the more articulate sound? If it is the warm sound, then I assume I don't need the push/pull knob, because the sound I want, is already there. Right? I would be thankful if you could clarify this for me.

      @TheBassChannel  3 месяца назад

      You are correct. The default sound is the thicker, warmer, series tone.

    D'Addario Tapewounds? Or something else? I'm just guessing D'Addario from the blue silk on the ball-ends and the ends.

      I think we've been using LaBella for our tapewound needs, but Chris may be along to clarify...

      @TheBassChannel  6 месяцев назад +1

      Correct. We’ve been using Labella pretty much exclusively for tapes and flats
