Good job Thomas, One point, I believe that there are a lot of people watching you and your good seamaship practices. On mast climbing I did not see secondary safety line…..and you left your live and safaty to G, who as I understand is not an experienced sailor….. Let me know if you share my points……
For gee not so much for Thomas. However thanks to Gee Thomas has a different and better step, when your around. Be shy it’s also cute. Be blessed on your endeavors.
Great news Thomas! Having a functional radar will make the Pacific transit a little less worrisome. Happy birthday to both of you and I do enjoy your adventures. Thanks John
Great video as usual Tomas. I’m in the La Playita anchorage and I see that you are on the other side of the peninsula. I plan to take of tomorrow afternoon or Wednesday morning towards Marquesas. I really hope to meet up with you out there. Say hello to Gee for me. You are indeed a lucky guy. All the best. The other Tomas on Saoirse
I understand your apprehension from the neighbors docking, the pilot was definitely nervous and new, but damn, that's a lot of boat and I can only imagine how scary it is to park millions of $ boat with everyone watching. I hope you went next door and gave them a warm welcome and helped them get back to normal heart rate. I'm a wannabe sailor, in a few years I will Begin. I've retired and I'm caring for my mother. Once she has passed, hopefully many years from now, I'm going to get myself to a good marina in the Caribbean and Begin the adventure. My plan is to buy a boat, (which is an adventure in itself) there and spend a year or two exploring the Western Caribbean learning to sail and care for the boat before going through and spending a couple years at least in the sea of Cortez before maybe attempting a coastal run up to bc and the Gulf Islands. I love the idea of cold weather sailing and big wildlife in the Pacific. Then, if I live long enough and can afford it I will consider a circumnavigation. Baby steps. Your channel is inspiring. Right now it is winter here in Nova Scotia, so not much pleasure sailing going on, but soon I'm hoping to get on as crew for the weekly regattas and start learning from the old salts here. The water here is very fast moving and tides make navigation extra hazardous, so by the time I buy a boat and live on it, I'll have miles under my belt. Atlantic Ocean miles are the goal. My first crossing will be to Annapolis for the boat show in October, that's the plan anyway... Thanks for your great advice and travelogue!
Glad to see your radar was a match. God knows if anyone deserve good luck, it should be sailers. Nice to see Gee back, you guys make a great couple. ⛵️🐟⚓️🍻
Top Bloke, Top Crew, Top Boat, and Radar-ed....happy days my ole friend. Am happy and ever so envious...thanks again for sharing your happenings...love it. Cheers
When you paid a lot of money for your bow thruster you want to get value by using it as much as possible. At least he got docked and didn't hit BeFree.
Happy birthday Gee! Hope you have a great birthday. I agree with others on the blue boat needs to learn more about the boat. Glad you were able to get the radar fix.
Seriously, I had wet eyes all through this episode since I know how much this means to you. This is going to paradise ✨💫💞 Give a good Swedish hug to Gee and be free to enter next level 🥂
Was lucky to get another radar the same so close to where you were, always enjoy your video's mate. Looking forward to seeing the channel crossing, something I one day hope to achieve aswell
Nice to see this episode, buuut, I'm not super fan of criticism to misabilities to dock a boat, how knows personal situations of skipper. At the end of the day a docking without damage is a good docking.😉
That boat pulling into the marina should have just threw there dock lines to the dock hands and shut the motor off and just pulled the boat in by the lines . That looked like it was going to get ugly .
Great video Thomas. A question: There is a ring(s) on the third finger of the left hand of the beautiful Gee. In the USA this would indicated engagement and/or marriage. Are you engaged or married to this gorgeous woman and not tell us?
I like all these gate keepers, experts and know it alls. Because you were born knowing how to dock perfectly and never made any mistakes so now you can dunk on everyone that doese t do a perfect job. Omg how did they cross an ocean. 😱
So much for not using a Bow Thruster for a max of 5 seconds with the engine running to assist the batteries even then. Admittedly I'm rather Deaf, but couldn't hear if the engine was running. 🤔
eta to fix a stupid predictive text error. Hi Thomas, when Crossing into the Pacific, keep a close eye on the Weather, as this is an El Ninno Year and weird shit can happen in the Eastern Pacific Panama Region, which is being closely Monitored by Mr Weatherman on his RUclips Channel, and has even done a video just on the El Ninno usual effects. Best Wishes and Fair Winds. Bob. 👍⛵️
Hi Thomas, I wonder if you could give a overall update on the Bavaria after so many miles? At the start you said it was the best compromise in market at the time. In particular she seems to handle the heavy water well. I’m looking, learned and like the Bav 38 to 45 but still kind of stuck between waiting to buy a Bav 38/45 from 2005 or take on a nice old Moody/Nelson etc and spend the same money making it a long term livaboard… just me an the dog, similar circumstances to you but a few years from selling all and pushing off.
Thank you so much for your questions and for watching. There will always be compromises and always something to put your finger on no matter the brand or price tag. Lots of rumours and strong opinions from people with little to no experience. I’m always impressed by vloggers going onboard a boat and making their reviews not even sailing it. It took me 3 years to know everything about my boat, and first now after 5 years and more than 20K nautical miles with this particular boat I feel entitled to have an opinion and share them. She is much better than the reputation over all. However mass production yachts do take some short cuts to save money and Bavaria is no exception. However it’s a matter of what to expect and to accept. On the safety side Bavaria never make any compromises. Hand layer of fibreglass in the grid and twice the numbers of keel bolts as it’s competitors. This was among some of the strongest arguments to myself choosing what I did. Then there off course are stupid solutions making me wonder wtf did they think here... But in general a really strong and good boat. If you look at the most expensive boats in similar size they all end of the day have similar problems. Sealing components normally lasts 10-15 years, no matter what you paid for your boat. All riggings needs attention and full replacement every 10-15 years no matter brand. Some riggings can definitely take more beating than others no questions about this. But all the cliches and old school strong opinions are mostly proven wrong. Last sailing boat to sink after a collision with a whale was old school. Even saw a video a boat builder stating twin rudders are a cheaper solution hence the reason mass production yachts move this direction. A statement like this proves how subjective this person is in terms of giving advice, and from experienced people sounds just a bit dumb. Twin rudders are more expensive and main reasons is evolution to wider body and proven performance. Also gives redundancy wich I have experienced first hand. So back to your question, I would go for as new and modern as possible. An old boat will also get older but no matter how much money you throw in still be an old boat. Meaning it could be a big loss in money the day you choose to sell. Big famous brands and modern boats sells fast and for a good money. All the best and cheers 🍻
@@SailingwithThomas Thanks Thomas and safe travels in the Pacific… that was my feeling, it’s a head over heart decision and I rate the build quality in any Bav or Benne I’ve been in. got a great quote on a 2011 C45 so that’s the plan now for early summer. It’s got the exact same electronics and general set up as yours be it shorter.
So, . . . . from someone who does not sail, but watches this channel to be informed, . . . . what would the blue boat's docking procedure looked like if Thomas was at the helm? Faster, slower, smoother, better orientation, what? I am too ignorant to see what nearly went wrong, and what good docking looks like. Thanks in advance for any helpful insights.
Lagom is so Swedish - It means "just right" but there is never an explanation of what is too much or too little. People just sort of know when the magic word, Lagom is used.
Lagom eller med måte... Som det sies i den gamle filmen "Tante Pose"; Å drikke med måte, er å ikke drikke så mye man vil......🍺Salige Mae Vest sa; A bit to much of a good thing is always good....
How wonderful to see my beautiful Gee smiling and glowing! Be safe and enjoy you two ❤
I'm so very happy to see you live the theme song.. I'm excited for future... It's exciting... ✌🏼💗😊⛵

Congrats on the radar Thomas. You'll need that for the canal, huh.
I think your best luck was meeting Gee. Good luck in the canal

OMG that person docking was bow-propeller-trigger-happy !😂
I wonder how that blue boat even found their way to the marina 😅
AWSOME Tom great video ❤ from Canada 🇨🇦

Hey Thomas, great to see you so 'very happy! This is gonna be the best sailing channel, with a little help from your friends.
Hello Gee, welcome to the RUclips community. Wishing you two all the best. Fair winds, following seas and many happy adventures.
You are living the dream....but you made your dreams reality. All respect to you Thomas!

My dad grew up in Panama in the 20s thru 40s so love seeing segments of this area and the sailing. Cheers
Nice to see you with Gee and also great your boat is ready for the pacific.
🎶🎼📣🎊🎁🎈💃🕺🥳🤩🎂🎉Happy Birthday! 🎂. Let all your wishes come true ✨ Gee and Thomas ! Fair Winds 😎
And great with some Swedish celebrasjon, too.😀
It's great that you have a sailing companion for the crossing. Twist of luck with the used radar working perfectly. Thanks for sharing.
Happy birthday Gee! Hope you have a great birthday.

Radar's working, Birthday Girl's back - things are looking good.
Great news Thomas, glad you found someone to share your experiences with
Karma you helped another and got problems for your trouble but the solution is strong and the radar in line with this fair winds.

Great episode like always.

The fancy sail boat helmsman sucks. Glad things are working for you Thomas. Yo, radar works, but plus. 🙂

Herre gud that was stressful to watch starting at 9:00. I would have needed at least 30 minutes pause after that before climbing the mast.
I can’t believe those people in that blue boat crossed an ocean
Loves pushing those buttons 😂

9:56 wow nervous af, can’t get a line wrapped around something
Money can buy a huge boat but not the skill to handle it. Wonder what this guy would w/o bow thruster.

Hi Thomas I’m located in USA having trouble with your store I would like to buy some tees any suggestions
Was that an engagement ring?
