  • Chinese Red braised pork belly is considered as the “big dish” for family table and party. This dish is also named as Hong Shao Rou in Chinese. “Hong” indicates the lovely red color; “Shao” refers to the braising method.     That seems to be straightforward and delicious.
    As I have to watch my intake of saturated fat, I'ld like to know whether I occasionally could prepare it with skin-on chicken thighs.

      I'd say it probably defeats the purpose of the dish. The fat on the pork belly is what makes this dish!

    The spices added at 0:49, do you use them again at 2:20 or are they new ones? Do you use the peppers only during the 5 min blanching in the beginning?
