Oh man. This came out awesome. I just got into terrain building a month ago, and now I can't wait for the dollar stores to stock up on Halloween decor! Liked and subbed. I like that you post very accessible builds that are easy for amateurs to pick up.
I think it looks good and using the entire skull was a better idea than only using the face. I am really impressed with how good the painting looks. The entire piece looks like it is made from rock. Thanks for sharing this.
I have a very big skull that's been sitting around waiting for something like this. Im currently making a rock face to cover the sprinkler valves at corner of my garage out of cardboard, resin and fiberglass. When that's done ill do the same thing for the corner of my shed with that big skull. This video helped me figure out what to do with that thing.
@@TheWhizzard oo heh yeah, I could try and pretend everything is perfect and easy, but then I worry someone new will come along, try and do something I show, find it a bit harder than the video get disheartened. Flaws are okay :) thanks.

Hey, thanks. Can I ask which part you mean? Do you mean building more like one of bits? Or do you mean something in the video? So I tried to add a few more like random bits to this one, and it was perhaps a little longer than I would have liked but happy overall :)
Great stuff mate, nice clear project. Lovely to see some more uk crafters getting in there. There is a strong uk push at the moment, Bill making stuff is also on the rise. Keep pushing for those subs quality always wins out.
I first saw this video back in January, and finally FINALLY Wilko now have the skulls in stock for Halloween. I bought 3. I know what im doing next weekend 😂😂💀💀
That turned out great when you painted it black I was thinking what's he doing then came the grey n wash stuff etc awesome haven't done everything like this once my shed it finished I'm on it 😁👍
Heh, thank you. Painting things black and then sort of drybrushing it up into lighter colours is pretty common as it lets you keep the recesses dark, and then you paint lighter were the light would hit. You can sometimes work the other way, but black and then lighter for me gives quick good results. Good luck on the shed :)
Brave man, Jay, cutting so near your crotch, with the saw. 😬 Nice build! I think you made the right choice, leaving the cranium attached. Looks really good
Awesome ... once tried something similar but i tried to cut the skull out of the foam wich ended looking terrible... never thought about buying one of those skulls and building around it nice
Nice done! Sad that here in Germany halloween is not a big thing. But it is slowly becoming a thing here. Maybe I get the chance to get on some cheap skeleton things in future.
I was sceptical when you first suggested this but it looks very impressive (if grisly). I especially like the tips for sculpting the foam and adding texture with aluminium foil. That could be employed for lots of different models. '... cheap halloween decatation', do you mean decoration? :)
a coping saw would've made an easier job and they are pretty cheap I just bit the bullet and bought one after struggling with an old blender I was using as a gun emplacement. honestly worth getting it ate up bits that my razor saw couldn't do it did it very neatly too. This is a great build wish I'd bought one of those skulls. still there's always next year.
I do have a coping saw, but just couldn't be bothered finding it. I really need to get a bit more organised! Some shops might sell stock cheap even now. In UK I think still avaialable.

Can't help with skull, but for sand, you can seal if before adding flock if you like. Or mix in a bit of pva when you do the first painting of it. Basically don't pva / sand and then simply normal paint, try and seal it.
