Humanz is SO much better in retrospect. It was so explicit and chaotic we all thought Gorillaz lost their touch, but really they were ahead of the curve. It was almost like a warning, and we're living Humanz right now.
"I'm just playing, baby, this the land of the free Where you can get a Glock and a gram for the cheap Where you can live your dreams long as you don't look like me Be a puppet on a string, hanging from a fucking tree "
To all the people criticizing and complaining about the new album, saying that it's "not Gorillaz", or that there's too many collaboration singers you've forgotten what Gorillaz is. Gorillaz was never about the singers, it was about the music. This is the whole reason the characters of 2d, Murdoc, Noodle and Russel were made, so that people don't focus on the artists, they focus on the music. Every song they have ever produced is still and always will be Gorillaz music.
for most bands this may be true but Gorillaz has changed their way of music in every album, now I understand that everyone has their own taste but Gorillaz in all honestly is a little bit of everything.
I'm 99.99 percent sure everyone's favorite part of the song is "I'm just playing baby this the land of the free where you can get a Glock and a gram for the cheap where you can live your dreams as long as you don't look like me be a puppet on a string hanging from a fucking tree"
The reason Gorillaz are so successful is because they transcend genres. Damon Albarn did the smartest thing you can do as a musician and chose not to pigeonhole himself into one sound or style. He switches it up and collabs with so many different artists that every track is fresh and unique. To the people that just wanted another Demon Days, please pull your head out of your ass and this time, instead of just hearing the music, fucking LISTEN to it.
Well I would love to listen to the music, but this guy is just shouting/talking in a powering voice, I am really sad about this track, not up my ally at all. New age rap is kinda shit tbh, bring back Del I say
Danielle Idolomah Yeah, the most stupid line in the song, right? He is obviously talking about black people, but he is clearly a popular rapper. Also, black Americans nearly dominate the music and dance industries of America. Unqualified black people can get into jobs because of diversity quotas. Statistically, unarmed white men are more likely to be shot by the police than unarmed black men. Black people are insanely successful in this country, so it's a pretty dumb line.
scarletgoldenthorn honey why are you so mad. Is you saying actually going to do anything? Though this is the internet so you act ava's demon brave as you want behind a screen. Just like me!
ItsCrypty why not?? I mean its true so why not. And what else should i do? Give credits or something? (Dont take it offensive i dont mean to be mean or something)
the mediocre trans there's a meme where someone says: "oh yeah Mr. Krabs" and then screams, everybody thinks this like that scream, but it's just Damon.
I get vibes from there first album. And it feels like its been one or two songs like this on each album. People keep on saying it doesn't "sound" like Gorillaz. But really, I feel like this really is Gorillaz to me. And as soon as you here 2D sing nothing says more "Gorillaz" then that.
The atmosphere directly above us is plummeting in a downwards fashion, infant, so I suggest you cover your posterior in the manner of planting it onto the ground beneath you in the time prior to the earth's atmosphere connecting with the land we walk on.
God, Damon, his band and his featured artists are profoundly talented. Been a fan for 13 years and not a single song of theirs gets old. They really can produce any track they want and I'm pretty sure that's the essence of Song Machine. So versatile, always fresh and unique but somehow always remain true to themselves in sound and style. INCREDIBLE
Exactly. What style are people referring to? The Gorillaz have their own style and it's called: they do whatever they fuck they want and it always turns out great because they're the fucking Gorillaz.
Yooo they got Vince Staples on a track. Dropping a dope flow as usual. Love seeing rappers break out from the typical hip hop beat and hop on some beats like this.
deadly macaroni SAMURI JACK? HOLY S**T BETWEEN RICK AND MORTY, GORIILAZ, AND SAMURAI F***ING JACK THERE IS NO WAY THIS YEAR WILL BE ANYTHING BUT FANTASTIC!
apparently all of the Humans album was inspired by the question "What if Donald Trump was president?" or something along those lines. So yeah, 2020 in a song.
For those of you complaining about Vince Staples, I think he was chosen because he matches their vibe as an alternative rap artist. In fact, most of his music he makes is actually sad/fucked up/scary and its not really radio music. He is quoted in an interview saying he hates rap music even though he is a rapper. I think Damon Albarn loves working with unconventional artists and Vince was one of the choices. yes his lyrics are a bit more condescending/violent than perhaps Del the Funky Homosapien, but a lot of the lyrics are real, commenting on the prevalence of racism and violence in contemporary society.

Aimee Apio yeah ikr, people suck to pimp a butterfly clean dry because of its lyrical themes but whenever any other rap gets political fans go crazy
@BlouBear77 it's not just about being rap. It's about being political rap specifically for black people. That's what makes people uncomfortable.
@@ocrow3654 I don’t think they never heard “Dirty Harry” before
@BlouBear77 wasn't that song about like cocaine or smth?
Humanz is SO much better in retrospect. It was so explicit and chaotic we all thought Gorillaz lost their touch, but really they were ahead of the curve. It was almost like a warning, and we're living Humanz right now.
Almost like predictive programming.
@@blahinthe7843 not at all, the subject material was still just as relevant during release it’s just that you might be more aware of it now
@@IncredibleIceCastle true.
Riots and whatever have been going on for years. Y'all are slow.
@not relevant this didnt happen to Demon Days, Plastic Beach, Song Machine, The Now Now, or even the fall lol. Just Humanz.
out of all 4 songs that came out i think this is my favorite

I'm leaning more towards Saturnz Barz, myself. But I live in the Caribbean, and Popcaan, so that's kind of expected.

Shaggy Thanks, nice to know that someone speaks the truth.
Shaggy but if it's about music, isn't it logical that people are concerned that the music isn't the same?
for most bands this may be true but Gorillaz has changed their way of music in every album, now I understand that everyone has their own taste but Gorillaz in all honestly is a little bit of everything.
Shaggy 5songs thats the whole album or its more to come?
Shaggy shame on you.. you are right

The reason Gorillaz are so successful is because they transcend genres. Damon Albarn did the smartest thing you can do as a musician and chose not to pigeonhole himself into one sound or style. He switches it up and collabs with so many different artists that every track is fresh and unique. To the people that just wanted another Demon Days, please pull your head out of your ass and this time, instead of just hearing the music, fucking LISTEN to it.
well said!
Well I would love to listen to the music, but this guy is just shouting/talking in a powering voice, I am really sad about this track, not up my ally at all. New age rap is kinda shit tbh, bring back Del I say
Del is on this album. So....
Yes, Damon is a true genius.
DEL!! Yes, I am so happy!
This feels like a song that should be associated with today’s events

MrBoJangles Do they make you feel good?
"Where you can live your dreams long as you don't look like me
Be a puppet on a string, hanging from a fucking tree" Got damn 👀
Danielle Idolomah Yeah, the most stupid line in the song, right? He is obviously talking about black people, but he is clearly a popular rapper. Also, black Americans nearly dominate the music and dance industries of America. Unqualified black people can get into jobs because of diversity quotas. Statistically, unarmed white men are more likely to be shot by the police than unarmed black men. Black people are insanely successful in this country, so it's a pretty dumb line.
lol
question who made those stats up hmmm
scarletgoldenthorn honey why are you so mad. Is you saying actually going to do anything? Though this is the internet so you act ava's demon brave as you want behind a screen. Just like me!
scarletgoldenthorn yeah I thought that line was really fucking dumb too, good song tho

the mediocre trans there's a meme where someone says: "oh yeah Mr. Krabs" and then screams, everybody thinks this like that scream, but it's just Damon.
Mr. Mateo I'M PICKLE RIIIIICCKKKK
I get vibes from there first album. And it feels like its been one or two songs like this on each album. People keep on saying it doesn't "sound" like Gorillaz. But really, I feel like this really is Gorillaz to me. And as soon as you here 2D sing nothing says more "Gorillaz" then that.
Archibald Raven not only that, they'll change their style within the same fucking album it's lit
Elias Bremer i love how people have forgotten that every Gorillaz song is really weird and different
MrSmart199 Yepppp
Elias Bremer yessss
i think you're getting some vibes because it's still got the ongoing theme of doom and the 'radio talk' thing still is here
The atmosphere directly above us is plummeting in a downwards fashion, infant, so I suggest you cover your posterior in the manner of planting it onto the ground beneath you in the time prior to the earth's atmosphere connecting with the land we walk on.
holy fridge this made me breathe

God, Damon, his band and his featured artists are profoundly talented. Been a fan for 13 years and not a single song of theirs gets old. They really can produce any track they want and I'm pretty sure that's the essence of Song Machine. So versatile, always fresh and unique but somehow always remain true to themselves in sound and style. INCREDIBLE
"it isn't their style" but they've never been known to stick to one style 👀
princess hojoon Amen
Exactly. What style are people referring to? The Gorillaz have their own style and it's called: they do whatever they fuck they want and it always turns out great because they're the fucking Gorillaz.
topkek bottomkek you completely ignored what they said, yes people have different opinions but the Gorillaz having no stuck on style is a fact.
Blur's every album is a complete different style

Yooo they got Vince Staples on a track.
Dropping a dope flow as usual.
Love seeing rappers break out from the typical hip hop beat and hop on some beats like this.
Kampsy he's rapped on several Clams beats. He can rap on anything haha
Kampsy vince staples has always done different none traditional hip hop beats, flows ect you just don't really listen to Vince staples
Alex Mejia Dastrome I know all this my dudes. Trust me.
Im saying, again, it's cool seeing rappers do this. Vic Mensa is one of the others who kinda jumps on beats that aren't "traditional hip hop" beats
again lol vic mensa didn't even originally do hip hop so how would he kinda jump onto none traditional hip hop beats?

For those of you complaining about Vince Staples, I think he was chosen because he matches their vibe as an alternative rap artist. In fact, most of his music he makes is actually sad/fucked up/scary and its not really radio music. He is quoted in an interview saying he hates rap music even though he is a rapper. I think Damon Albarn loves working with unconventional artists and Vince was one of the choices. yes his lyrics are a bit more condescending/violent than perhaps Del the Funky Homosapien, but a lot of the lyrics are real, commenting on the prevalence of racism and violence in contemporary society.
He doesn't hate rap, he's a troll, you have to remember this is the same guy who said bow wow and Soulja boy are his favourite rappers
