I'm in utter shock that people are saying what "is" and "isn't" Gorillaz... the band that was a culmination of every genre in existence, innovating on all corners of the music industry, somehow managing to pull it off every time, truly being boundary-less, is suddenly being told what it can and cannot be... crazy.
I think they mean it's not so much "not Gorillaz" as "not pure Gorillaz." Of the 17-ish tracks on the album, about 14 of them have at least one collaborator on them, and some of them don't include Damon/2D's vocals. That said, I love this album.

well, i think Gorillaz members were always meant to look like a monkeys (for the style of drawing). like, okey, they are acting like real people, talking and plays on their instruments, but for me, they are always monkeys. and it's awesome for me that the album "Humanz" have cover where Noodle, Russel, 2D and also Murdoc looks like real humans.

Literally every radio station plays shit like the chainsmoker etc. and that causes amazing bands like this to go unnoticed. I only found them about February 2016 but ive watched all of their older content. Also as a side note literally all of the people my age (12) just listen to all that generic pop music such as the chainsmokers martin garrix etc.
I think that its kind of cool how each album has its own individual style of music like Plastic beach is more electronic and this album has more rap and Demon days uses more classical instruments which helps distinguish the albums
