  • In this video, I mount up the Penske coilovers, control arms with AMT spherical bushings, and AMT camber kit. I also cover some tips that save time, like how to mount the shocks for easiest adjustability and how I mounted the shock canisters.

Great video, Josh. I raced Spec E46 in the early days. Spec Corvette looks interesting.

Thanks! I started in a spec class (MazdaGT), then moved to others like ST2, GT2/3, and EP. I’m really happy to be back in a spec class (so is my wallet)! Happy to answer questions about Spec Corvette if you have any.

Im jealous! What a beautiful set of control parts. I'm slowly replacing mine. I love that all the aluminum parts clean up so well and that performance parts make the car even better.

They do make for some nice bling! AMT did a great job.

@@joshc1017 I'm going to do the dog bones next on the rear. I have to wait on the other things because I need a paint job next.

That roll bar mount for the remotes is slick!

Kind of looks like it was made to mount the canisters.

What a great tutorial video and install. Well done! 👍👍 This had to be an expensive upgrade though. Save the Wave 🙋‍♂

Definitely the most expensive part of the spec build but not as bad as it looks with the racer discount. Definitely register your build if you’re building a Spec Corvette. The brakes alone are almost $1k less for racers.

very nice looking good. i may have drooled a little at the sight of the coilovers. needless to say i am looking forward to the alignment video.

You might need a 6-pack and some popcorn for the alignment video. Looking at the raw footage, it’s going to be loooong. It’s hot as hell here today, so it’s a good day to stay inside and chip away at video production.

Thank you for all of these videos! They were incredibly helpful as I did some projects on my c5. One quick note (that you may already have a plan on). I had the upper A arm studs on my car. Installed by the previous owner and he installed a set of 315 tires as well. Turns out those studs can easily reach out into the wheel well far enough that the tire will dig into them. I had one dig into the cords on my passenger front wheel. (Amazed that the tire didn't pop). I talked to the lead instructor at the track days I go to (who has a done Ultimate Street Car with a c5) and he said it is best to run those studs as far in as possible to avoid contact with the tire. Anyway, just a heads up to be very attentive to wheel position through range of motion when dialing all of that in. There is a good chance you won't be able to leave the studs out that far. Thanks again for the excellent videos!

Thanks for mentioning that! I checked the clearance with the SC5R wheels while it was on the rack and was OK but a different offset could cause some problems, for sure; maybe when it’s on the ground too. Definitely worth checking again and a public service announcement for folks. There’s no need for all that extra stud length, anyway.

😂- sorry, it’s coming. I just pulled all of the clips together for editing. Chronologically, the next video would be sway bar installation but I’ll bump up the alignment video. 😉

Another well done video. Makes me jealous of all those great parts. I noticed in the video are those headlamp deleted on the car?

    • @joshc1017
      @joshc1017  2 года назад +2

Yes, I pulled out the buckets and put in a frame to hold the headlight cover. There’s a video coming for that, too.

Greetings fellow Josh! I've been thinking about getting this coilover kit for my C6Z which will see track time but obviously not to be raced in spec corvette. Any thoughts? It seems like a lot of quality for the price.

The Penskes are great coilovers and are valved well for the C5/6 geometry. The only downside is that they’re single adjustable. In the spec series, that’s a good thing, sine you spend less time tuning and more time driving.

I would think the suspension control arms would be shot peening.

Not cheap but the racer discounts help.
