Shalom Mr. and Mrs. Homestead Heart! I tell you this was the most informative Chicken Process video I have seen. You all held hands and prayed over the sacrificial meat the Lord has given us to sustain and nourish ourselves. Yes, it does hurt when culling the animals and that was sad, yet a gift from Yah for us which makes the meat a good gift. Thank you and blessings to you and yours!

Lost art !!!! I have been binge-watching you all day. This saddens me. We as a people are so used to just going to the store and buy what we want what we need. the art of self sustainment I'm afraid is going to be lost. Gardening canning meat processing those are self-sustaining art that nobody I know knows how to do. I would love to learn more about it. I would love to have some acreage grow my own become self-sufficient. My husband not so much. However we do have a quarter of an acre and you motivate me to do as much as I can do with what I have. God bless you thank you for pouring into my life I look forward to learning a lot from you. Via your videos

Teresa, you may be surprised with what you can get from a 1/4 acre. Lay your "brown gold" out as shown in one of the videos, prep your soil and get to planting. You will love it. Start saving a little money EVERY month and buy a couple of acres. If nothing else it is a great investment. Good luck!

I appreciate your information! One thing: Don’t compost the feet, freeze them all! When I get them from our local farmer, they go into making stock. (Cut off those sharp nails, though.) Necks, backbones and feet make beautiful stock; the color is deep, and the gelatin you get is amazing.

if you want to use the feet you need to dunk them too, then the skin and nail comes off. We don't use ours for stock, we put them in the smoker and dry them for dog treats.

Best instructional vid I've seen on processing chickens, also liked the reverence shown before you'all began. Wish I had seen this 30 years ago when I raised meat birds for the 1st time. The older neighbor couple asked me for the feet, they really enjoyed them. I never used them when I was raising chickens but found some once in the grocery store and made a very good rich chicken broth.

I thought the snake was bad. I cried through this whole video. Oh LORD! I will stick to the growing side of homesteading. Am I a homesteader, if I do not raise and slaughter meat to eat? I can be a vegetarian homesteader, correct? I have a greater admiration for the two of you, now. May GOD continue to bless and keep you always. Amen and Amen.

Mr and Mrs Homestead Heart, Thank you for this video - this was my husband’s first time involved in the process, so I had him watch this video a couple of days before we did our harvest. When it came time for him “dispatch” the first bird he hesitated, and I reminded him how Mr. Heart found the spot to make the cut, and of your explanation of why we raise our own food. We said a prayer before we started, and things went well after that. Thank you for your excellent example of the butchering process...the “how” and the “why”. It mattered to us more than you know! I had to process rabbits last weekend, and it was my first time. It broke my heart, and although my daughter Abbi Jo wanted to help she was actually crying through it, but toughed it out. Your set up is awesome. We haven't processed chickens yet, but once we're on our (God's) mountain we will be for sure. I'm assuming you two holding hands in the beginning were you both giving thanks and it warmed my heart and made me teary. It was beautiful. This was super informative and you all did an amazing job. And to think of the additional work required to further break down the process to have fillets and chicken pieces certainly makes you grateful for the animals and plants that God has provided to sustain and nourish us. Everything has its place and purpose. Well done. May you be continually blessed for your industrious efforts to put food on your table and for your informative videos. It is truly appreciated 🤗 👌🙏

Mr & Mrs H. - You have brought back memories of raising Rock Cornish for the freezer back in the 1970s. We plucked a few by hand... Hard work! So we caged them up and took them over to our friends in New Market , New Hampshire. They had a drum and a picker. Pretty fancy back then for a private farmstead. We ladies had coffee in the kitchen , while our men processed the birds and put them into clean large trash barrels filled with ice cold water. Now I have a story.... When we got home, I attempted to cut the chickens up my new poultry shears. After a few, my fingers were extremely sore! So I took the shears and cut up both sides of the backbone, which into a bag for soup. Now we had two halves that nested perfectly. Saved a LOT of space in the freezer. Later on, I could put two halves back together with kitchen twine if I wanted a roast chicken. The halves were a breeze to clean and the stuffing was easy to access. You both did a fine, informative and humane video on dressing out chicken. It is a blessing to be able to put food in your freezer by your own hand and God's grace. ~ Diane

Great 👍 day sorry 😐 I’m mentally not at the point to watch the entire video just wanted to show your page some love 💕 and when mentally up to it may do so. As a vegetarian 🌱 believe we kill both plants and animals to survive. I’m not to judge because I’m not at the situation at the present yet saved this video as some of your others for educational viewing. If the day comes and I own chickens 🐓 as a homestead and need to process since I raised them would pray I have the courage at the time to do just that.
My grandmother shared stories on snapping off the chickens necks and letting them run until they bleed. Those were those times and uncertain how processing works today and saved your video to learn later...lol. Many blessings

You did good for your first time. I’ve watched other videos on this an all I can say is, ‘Well Done”. I love the fact that you prayed ahead of time. Keep God first and everything will turn out alright.
