Capcom giving some of their most hardcore DR1 fans on RUclips preview codes is actually a really smart idea.
It helps build hype, offers a decent level of transparency, gives them insight into what their target audience thinks about the remaster, and is a great way of showing that they do care about what DR1 fans think.'

Absolutely love the fact that they brought the custome locker from DR3 over to this remaster, that was a great addition and I'm glad it's here.

I believe that locker first appeared in DR2, but it was for rewards and DLC outfits.

I'm not even someone that usually rips on stuff like voice acting, it's very whatever for me, but I legitimately thought it was YOU doing a bit when you played the comparison of the guy yelling from the balcony thing. That did not sound like a serious acting performance AT ALL. That was a Capcom headquarters janitor bro.

In a way, the cutscenes being exactly the same means it's very possible to mod OG voices back into the game. I feel like they recast everyone because they didn't want to track them down and-or avoid paying royalties?
The cutscenes and script seem mostly the same with only a few line changes, but there’s a definite possibility the OG voices will be modded instantly. Most of the OG are unionized, and some of them have definitely been more in demand ( Like Steve Blum ) and Capcom has leaned a practice to use more non-union talent or a different cast for certain game IPs.( which is evident for the RE remakes from 2 to 4, though Capcom renews different actors a lot of the time or cutting down costs.)
So it might be related to not wanting to pay union fees for reusing the same voice clips in the New version of Dead Rising, or not rehiring the same voices for bigger costs. It’s Capcom, they have a pattern with hiring new actors.
( I edited this since Capcom’s practice for not keeping the same cast has been a well known For a long time now. And The RE remakes do have union actors, and non union actors who later became unionized later on such as Ada, after having a different actor in RE4. So it’s a cut in corners situation.)
The npc's giving you random tips reminds me of the pawns in Dragon's Dogma.
The new survivor dialogue sounds extremely stilted, like the way Ross says "take a quick snapshot" he emphasises the a in a completely unnatural way. And why would he care about a PP sticker? David's line is just weird too, they're just giving you tutorial hints you'd read in a loading screen or something lmao.

dead rising wasn’t really hard tbh, it was just riddled with glitches and parts of the game were poorly designed due to crunch
I just did a platinum play through and the mini chainsaws completely made the game easy mode
@@kilvertt7347 Literally one of the main things people do is get the mini-chainsaws and the magazines to extend the chainsaw use to insane levels.

@@nopenope3678 I doubt it'll be anything more than a skin you buy. I figure the classic MegaMan and his buster is still the one you unlock. That being said, that is a good question. The three sword chip combo is a classic since it's so easy to get and reliable. But nothing really screams out to me. Maybe a mega buster that charges for a giant attack.

The washed out colors is something I noticed straight away, especially in comparison shots. You definitely need to set the brightness up correctly with RE Engine games
I always appreciate your genuine honesty and criticisms to this series. For the last seven years you’ve been Dead Risings best critic in my opinion as many others jumped on a bandwagon or a hate train but you always came off very genuine. My favorite video of yours is still the DR4 Developing Deception, how far we’ve come.
I’m glad Dead Rising has returned but being weary is always good, the expectation is good but I know not to have my mind blown as it was way back when I first played the original… and still do

The survivors talking sounds so cheesy. From what iv seen the voice acting does not sound good at all except franks surprisingly. I get the game has its funny mechanics but it still has a serious story to it and with a creepy setting. This remaster seems to lean more on the funny side which im not a fan of. Its early on i cant judge too hard this is just from what iv seen im just a big fan of dead rising
The OG survivors sound cheesy also in my opinion. I’m such a fan I can’t really get mad at anything with this remake
@@cameroncurry8548 im a huge fan of dead rising especially the original. Thats why im nit picking quite a bit because it has such big shoes to fill. Theres a lot i like about the remake but a lot that i dont like. It also seems like they made the remake way too easy, you can be almost level 10 by the time you get to the first carlitio fight by just taking pictures
@@wenurdedurded Yea reaching level 10 that early is a little off, but my hopes are that after 10 it takes a little longer to lvl up. I just always loved restarting with a stronger Frank with more movesets making it easier to save survivors
not too sure how Im feeling about them removing Erotica for the pictures and toning down a game that was fine for us when we were 18 year olds on the 360. From race changes to taking out anti communist lines, a remake should be a pretty version of the game not removing items like all the lost content and character assasination of Jill in the Resident evil 3 remake. Also Frank looks like hes 40 in the new one :/

Pretending erotica has nothing to do with photography now, really goes to show how inherently stupid the censorship really is. Doesn’t help the game has also censored dialog as well.
I hope they’re taking this opportunity to listen and make those small tweaks before release. It’s so close but these little details specifically in sound design add up over time

The complete removal of the erotica bonus for pictures is giving me bad vibes. Just seems like a really stupid thing to remove and makes me wonder what other things they are gonna get rid of.
I know it's a nitpick, but I'm still not happy with the censorship they did. A lot of people are saying "It's not a big deal" alright, if it wasn't a big deal, why was it changed then?
To sell the game to a wider audience(smart) and they are right it is no big deal.

The new VA for Frank is Jas Patrick, and he really don't look like what I expected.

I disagree. Modders will just be able to swap in the far superior performances from the original because the lipsync is identical.
Honestly Frank's new voice sounds more New Yorker, which I think it works with the whole, "Regular Joe" part of Frank

It would be nice if there was an option to use the old voice lines in game. I'm sure we won't get it officially, but it would be very nice to see some kind soul in the community patch the remaster eventually. I guess some of the new character model's facial and body movements would have to be altered as well since they changed some of the script, plus the timing of the lines played. I just love the old voice cast so damn much. New voice cast sounds OK from all I've heard- but I would love to be able to have both!
Yeah it totally makes sense that David, an npc that’s whole story is that he was able to escape from Steven in seons and was by himself without much food and injured would say with a gleeful voice “hey Frank… did you know that there’s a store nearby that has katanas and blades?” Terrible

Modders are gonna be the reason why this game is going to be a 10/10. Incorporating original voice lines,maybe make zombies more aggressive towards Frank and survivors, harder difficulties etc. Camcom really dropped the ball with the voice actors in my opinion. The approval of Brads opening scene blows my mind, but this game will forever have a special place in my heart and honestly rooting for the best!
This is HUGE nit pick and it’s not gonna sway my opinion of the game but I wish they kept the loading screens of the OG game instead of just having a generic black screen. That nit pick aside I love what I’m seeing
99% sure the game itself loads faster than that loading screen.
11:04 if you can, try changing the Color Space option from sRGB to BT.709 - pretty much all RE Engine games have this option, and they all look MUCH better with BT.709 - see for yourself

Compared to other first impression videos, I think this one paints a clearer what I am getting into. It may not be 1:1, I’m just glad DR is being revived. My hope is that this game sells well enough to warrant DR2 being remastered with a better pc port.
This is the most level headed video I've watched since the previews dropped. I'm glad to see most people are still excited for the game. The biggest issue with me is the voice acting overall.

I still can't forgive Capcom for not even contacting Rotolo *again,* just like DR4. Fans asked him if he knew and he stated that they didn't reach out to him at all despite the fact he'd be up for it. A lot of people are theorizing it's because he's a union VA which apparently Capcom hates or something?
The second most egregious thing is the censorship. I can kinda get why they changed the butcher and even the erotica genre, but they destroyed one of the most tragic psychopaths in the series: Cliff. He went from a Vietnam vet suffering from PTSD induced by seeing his grandchild eaten alive in front of him, but no. Now he's a conspiracy theorist or something because (it's speculated) that having a man call you a "filthy communist" would get it banned in the Chinese market. I just wish they'd gone the MGS Delta route and kept everything the same while adding new graphics and quality of life changes.
I mean, it's called a "remaster" not a "remake," so making changes like these feels like they're lying to their audience.
I can't wait to see what classic game Capcom will censor next.

Stalin used to dictate what type of shots directors could film, but we have faceless goons setting the boundaries of acceptable historical creativity. Both are censorship.

At first, I didn't really like Frank's voice and face from early clips. Especially the helicopter "WooHoo!". The more Frank I see, the more I'm cool with the new voice and look. TJ will always be the goat, but I'm willing to let the new guy have a chance

The Game looks phenomenal! The lighting could use some tweaks make it brighter
The burning question for me is: If we chose the "classic Frank" skin, what happens when we put on different clothing items from the store? Will the character model still be "classic Frank", just with different clothes, or will it revert back to the standard model? And yes, this will totally influence whether I'll buy the deluxe or regular version.
I will say, the camera angle naturally resting around where we typically see the Third Person camera in other Capcom games like the RE4 remake. It doesnt sit and HIGH UP as it did in the OG Dead Rising. I know its simple and sounds dumb, but I think the lowering of the camera takes away some of the effect of a mall filled with zombies.
@15:20 you make a great point about mow much more energy is felt in the original mall outbreak sequence versus how it is in the remake. Remake also is missing ambiance from its OST and the STANDARD screams of the survivors when they died. They all let out a yell and then big letters appear that they died. It feels more toned down now and not as important that they just were eaten by zombies.
ive played the original a couple of months ago for the first time in years and i hated the controls. Capcom making a more updated control setup is a god send. The game looks graphically amazing cant wait to get my hands on it.

Been playing through DR2 and OTR to prep for DRDR. I platted DR2, am working on OTR. Afterwards, I'll be ready for the Deluxe Remaster.
They should have called Dead Rising Resurrected, ReRised or Reanimated. Deluxe remaster sounds like something made on windows movie maker
Not gonna lie, there better be a mod that changes the main cast of character's voices including psychopaths back into the originals. Some of the lines i heard in this video aren't doing it for me.

Does anyone know if you can turn off the autosave? All the previews mention this feature but none I've seen specify if its toggleable or optional or something
I'm gonna assume some of the changes you were implying but didn't talk about (most likely because Capcom want to keep it hush hush) were the removal of the erotica photography, which some missions will have you do.
I'm gonna be honest, i'm really 50/50 now on my excitement on this remaster, whether to refund it from my steam library or not. I genuinely do not like the fact that they censored it now compared to the original release and i don't want to support this kind of thing anymore. If they truly have removed it, then the one way for me to play this remaster is for modders to bring it back in some way, if not. then i'll always have the original remaster to keep playing i suppose.

@@OniLordMiki I disagree then because Dead Rising as a whole always had that kind of silly 80's zombie flick vibe, and you taking a photo and suddenly you get an erotica point from a zombie upskirt was part of that funny charm. All of the games had a ton of funny sexual stuff in it, from 1, 2 and 3.
Also the hush hush comment literally came from Ghenry, saying there are changes that he won't talk about until the full release while the footage has Kent's cutscene with the obvious "Sexy shot" being removed.
It really just seems like Capcom really didn't want to offend anyone from a mechanic that didn't really offend anyone.
