This is such awesome footage! King of bodybuilding - Arnold King of aesthetics - frank Expert poser - Ed Strongest bodybuilder - Franco Incredible Hulk - Lou And black panther - Serge nurbret All in one event !!
Arnold looked so damn good. He even had the Christmas tree in the lower back before Samir Bannout did. Amazing. Ed Corney looked fabulous as well and his posing is just fabulous. Not one Mr.Olympia competitor today can touch Arnold or Ed in this video.
They had discovered the beneficial effect of Decca and Winstrol at this time. Arnold was known to utilize those PEDs extensively, as he has later confirmed.
@@Trendle222 Didn't say it wasn't even play in the pro contests. But just because all of them are needle druggies doesn't mean it's right. Arnie talked about BB as a sporty and healthy activity, that makes him two faced as he wanted to be seen as a role model. He talked about clean sports and anti-drug policy when he was in the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports during most of the George H. W. Bush administration. Him using PEDs all of his BB career doesn't correspond well with that. Neither is his Arnold Classic shows that thrive from BBs that are juiced out of their minds. He's endorsing and rewarding it, not working against it. This wishy-washy two faced behaviour is silly. Should just drop the saint attitude and be honest about it, but I guess that would have restricted his post BB career.
Fun fact: Arnold was about 13 lbs lighter in 1975 than in 1974 because he could not regain all of the lean muscularity mass back in 3 months he lost for the "Stay Hungry" movie when he trimmed to only 209 lbs (down from 250 lbs). His legs, traps, delts, upper chest, triceps and upper back are noticeably less muscular. Still good enough to win, but not in his peak shape.
Even though the (perceived) video quality is probably lower than 144p, Arnold's shape when on that podium is incredible. I watched some HD Pumping Iron Footage recently and Arnold's condition was better than Cedric or Dallas at this recent Arnold Classic.

Ken Waller (Mr. Universe winner in Pumping Iron movie) filmed a lot of the contest and surrounding drama with his 8mm.. In fact, he is spotted filming in more than one scene in the Pumping Iron film. I wonder if this is his film.
And to think this is just one version of this glorious event. There's still several other cameras that are going off. Especially behind the scenes/training footage , hundreds of hours worth, that remain in Arnold's vault. He owns the rights and doesn't want to release shit.
Yes, quite possible. Arnold did that trick regularly. He would carb deplete and completely deplete himself of water in order to get maximum definition out for the pre-judging. That would make him win contests as judges make up their minds during the pre-judging. Then, he would eat carrot cake (as he did in 1974) and quicky put on 5 - 8 lbs for the evening show when the 5000 audience was there to watch so that he can show more size without worrying about losing some conditioning.
being a Big Ferrigno Fan , I would have done The Pumping Iron film different ! in 1974 both Louie & Arnold were winners in two different Bodybuilding contests, Arnold the Olympia #5 times & Big Lou got the Universe #2times, so during Pumping Iron, I would have tried to make 1975 a 1974 part2 by having same result have Big Lou win a 3rd Universe besting Ken Waller like he beat him in the 1973 Universe & have Arnold of course get the #6 Olympia & then they both come out on top as winners again & not just have Arnold have the whole shinning light in 1975,but oh well in 1977 Big Lou became The Incredible Hulk!
What fantastic physiques. Not one single competitor today looks as good as any of these guys. Size isnt everything. If I was given the choice between say frank zane, or jay cutler, zane all the way baby, zane all the way. Its not about looking big, its feeling good in and out of the gym. Even with the bad lighting, Serge Nubret looks so cut and striated. They wanted to give it to Arnold, so they snookered Serge. He lost 12 pounds and still looked really good. I just wonder what it would have been like if they had not done that. I think it was close as it was. But I can see giving it to Arnold on the merits.
Final Word on Symmetry. When it came to Nubret, his upper torso had Amazing Symmetry and it flowed with his legs, but EVERYONE KNOWS, his LEGS WERE LACKING! So, what do we call it? Does it still mean he is a Symmetrical Bodybuilder? I will still say his Physique is Symmetrical. However, the Judging needs to come Up with a new Judging Criteria. I suggest the Balance Criteria. Example; are ALL MUSCLE BELLIES FULL AND DEVELOPED? Serge's Legs and Calves were Horribly Lacking. Hence, an unbalanced Physique!
This is the best Arnold ever looked. He was bigger in 71-74, but never as symmetrical or ripped as in 75. Well deserved 2nd for Serge Nubret. Lou was massive, but too smooth. Arnold and Serge were way more polished here.
+Arch Stanton Wrong. This video does not show clearly (due to weak quality). Arnold's best year was 1974 when he brought together mass, conditioning and ripped muscularity all in the same contest. I have a black and white video of the 1974 Mr, Olympia that is extreme rare and Arnold was absolutely mind blowing. Many experts agree. He prepared very hard in 1974 and got the best conditioning and size to beat Sergio Oliva once and for all to send him to retirement (but, Sergio was disqualified for competing in a different org). He was just as ripped, but far more proportionate and muscular at 246 pounds. In 1975, Arnold was much smaller (232 pounds) because of the weight loss for 'Stay Hungry' movie, he lost majority of his muscles down to 209 pounds. He could not regain all his muscularity in 3 months after the movie. His legs are much smaller in this contest and do not match the size of his upper body, he looks thin from the sides, Arnold's triceps and upper chest do not match the size of the opposing muscles.
You may have a point, but I've never seen the footage that you speak of, so I can't really make a fair comparison based on that. In fact, I find it very odd that there is so little footage of the Mr. Olympia pre 1980's, especially considering it's the most prestigious competition in all of bodybuilding. Not to even mention that those were the years (early 70's) Arnold, the greatest bodybuilder of all time dominated. I'm mainly going by the Pumping Iron film (1975), and photos of the 73-74 Olympia. Like I said, Arnold was bigger in 73-74, especially his quads, but I've never seen any film or photos of Arnold in better all-around shape compared to the Pumping Iron footage in 75.
+Arch Stanton Yes, that video footage is very rare and not available. I have it on VHS given by someone back in the 90s. Arnold walked around like a friggin emperor with a big smirk on stage and his enormous arms swinging. '74 initially was the retirement year for Arnold, which is why he lost 40 pounds for the "Stay Hungry" movie, but George Butler refused to cast him in the "Pumping Iron" movie unless he competed in '75 so Arnold came back one last time. The only posing video available on youtube is from 1974 is the 'Southern Hemisphere' (Sydney, Australia) contest where Arnold guest posed. Arnold was enormous and huge in that video, but he was in off-season condition so a bit smooth and around 10% fat. Paul Graham said he weighed Arnold at 263 pounds when he arrived in Australia in 1974. Arnold himself said in his book that he had added a lot of size to his weak points that year - his upper chest to get rid of the what he called "droopy" look of his bottom-heavy chest and hamstrings/leg biceps and got his proportions perfect that year. He cut down to 243 - 246 pounds for the Mr. O and destroyed everyone on stage. He actually ate carrot cake after the pre-judging before the night show in order to quickly put on 5 pounds for the evening show in front of 10.000 people in Madison Square Garden (remember, he was completely depleted of carbs so that weight comes back in hours when you introduce some carbs). The result was, he made a taller 6'4.5" 265 pounds Lou Ferrigno look like a sick and depressed puppy. Joe Weider once said Arnold was fully preparing to completely destroy Sergio Oliva in 1974 at the Madison Square Garden by attacking him with mass and conditioning. The feud became personal in 1974 when Sergio lashed out at Arnold in a talk show and tried to get Arnold on stage to compete with him in a clean and jerk competition of 225 lbs for reps. Arnold competed that year to settle it once and for all after the '72 controversy and fully intended to send Sergio to retirement that year (and also retire himself), but Sergio never competed because he got disqualified.
+Mark Dorchester Also, Nubret was a regular poster at the bodybuildingdotcom site. You can actually search for that thread. Many people used to ask him about 1975 and he used to regularly say, Arnold was not near his peak shape. He was much smaller and was lacking in a few areas. He claimed Joe Weider was very worried when he saw Arnold not being at his best and that the judges would favor Nubret over him. Nubret said, he was initially 220 lbs for the Mr. O when he arrived in Pretoria, but Weider did not want him to look close to his favorite 232 pounds Arnold (Sergio was 5'11" so he was 3 inches shorter than Arnold) so IFBB disqualified him for working in porn movies in France, but then a few days before the contest, they allowed him back in. Nubret claimed he had lost 20 pounds by that time as he felt defeated and had to rush at the very last moment to prepare for the contest and could not come at his best. Otherwise, he felt he would have beaten the 1975 version of Arnold. Whether this is true or BS, no one knows. I am just explaining what he wrote on BB site.
Interesting. I would like to see the footage you have of Arnold in the 74 Mr. Olympia, you should post it. Anyway, it sounds like Serge Nubret got screwed over in 75, but even if he came in at 220lbs, I don't think he had the legs or back to beat Arnold.
The IFBB has done a disservice to the competitors and fans alike for not properly video documenting the sport. This is the most we've seen on this show, And some shows, to me most notably is the absence of any footage from the 76 Olympia. What, is this somehow related to the Kennedy assassination...???
+tony hancock He had a great rear lat spread. He did it against Franco numerous times in his career. It was a required pose for the comparison shots. Here is a picture of a 260 lbs Arnold (1972, Sydney Australia) hitting rear lat spread next to Franco and he holds his own. Franco naturally had very short limbs so his lats used to look bigger than they actually were since there was no gap between the lats and the arms. forum.bodybuilding.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=332653&d=1158076775
KLRGT500KR That's not a contest where Arnold hit a rear lat spread against Franco. That's a photo shoot done in 1968 that was taken by Jimmy Caruso for a magazine, Muscle Builder. It's in RUclips too if you want to check it out. Arnold was not 260lbs, but 245lbs. Rear latspread is not his popular and you'll find almost next to nothing when it comes to pics. This is one of the few pics of him doing a lat spread: forum.bodybuilding.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=332649&d=1158076505
Edgar: You are incorrect on all accounts. Let's go through this one by one: 1 - Rear lat spread was a mandatory pose in the 1970s. Arnold hit the rear lat spread in every single competition. I am sure you are not aware Arnold used rear lat spread in his posing routines in many years. In 1974, there is no picture or video available of it, but Arnold while posing off next to the other competitors, turned around and did a read lat spread where he did it in three bursts. Each time, he would pull his lats out more and more. He did rear lat spread in 1971 (there is video of it). Even in 1980 there is a picture of him. 2 - The picture I posted was from 1972. Not 1968. Arnold is 25 years of age in it. It was taken when Franco and Arnold visited Robert Nailon in Sydney, Australia. This video was actually shot and produced by Robert Nailon. If you search for it, you will see a picture of Arnold and Nailon shaking hands beside the same pool and Arnold wearing the same exact posing trunk. You can also see by Arnold's face that he is well in his 20s. Here is Arnold in 1974 off-season in Australia forum.bodybuilding.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=43466&d=1055374810 3 - You are also incorrect about Arnold's weight in this video at 245 lbs. Arnold was in off-season condition and Arnold used to be between 250 - 260 lbs in the off-season. Paul Graham said in 1974 when Arnold came to Australia, he weighed 260 lbs when he guest posed at the Southern Hemisphere constest. Ric Drasin who runs a youtube channel and trained with Arnold for 4 years said he had seen Arnold at 260 lbs during off-seasons. You can watch the video of it and see how huge Arnold was. 245 lbs was his competition weight in 1972 and 1974. He weighed 230 lbs in 1975. He was 251.8 lbs in 1971 Olympia and 254 lbs at the 1968 Mr. Universe contest. Here is the scan of the measurement sheet from NABBA Mr. Universe 1968. See the scan below. This was his heaviest contest weight of his career. www.getbig.com/boards/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=326009.0;attach=377111;image
As much as I like Nubret, I would have put Lou"The Incredible Hulk"Ferrigno in front of him. Nubret's Legs just kill him. No Calves and not much better legs. It's a Physique Contest, Not a Torso Contest. Lou was far more massive too. This event is Iconic. The Hulk vs.Conan. Big Lou won out in the end by picking up the HIT TV Show; The Incredible Hulk!!
+A. Wiz (TheWizardofChinoHills) LOL. Lou has never won a Mr. Olympia. He competed against Arnold both in 1974 and 1975, he lost both times by a big margin. As a matter of fact, you are making fun of Nubret, he was 2nd in the heavy weight division and he beat Lou because Lou had no conditioning and no vascularity. Just plain muscles with some baby fat and water. Lou was dead last. Arnold won the over 200 lbs category and Franco won the 200 and under. At the end Arnold won 7 overall Mr. Olympia which was a record until 1990.
Ken Waller (Mr. Universe winner in Pumping Iron movie) filmed a lot of the contest and surrounding drama with his 8mm.. In fact, he is spotted filming in more than one scene in the Pumping Iron film. I wonder if this is his film.
Arnold looked incredible in 1975. His conditioning was insane. Besides Arnold the second best i'd have to give it to Serge Nubret. That man is a VERY underrated bodybuilder. His physique was awesome too. My favorite pose was his infamous one at 11:09
In terms of torso development..Franco may have been the best Mr. Olympia EVER! His upper pecs, back, rear delts(huge rear delts) and awesome abs made him every bit the Mr. Olympia winner. But..Corney had better arms and legs and nice overall lines. True he wasn't as ripped as Franco but if we are talking about overall proportions and lack of weaknesses..Corney beats Franco.
Serge Nubret was lucky to finish second; he was then in a big big feud with Weider bros, because he wished to create his own WABBA federation in Europe and Ben Weider even wanted to forbid him to participate to the Big O. But the national federations, when they learn this, threatened to boycott the competition. So Weider finally allowed Nubret to compete. And second is an unexpected good performance for the Black Panther, if you consider those issues. He even stopped training two weeks before the show, losing twelve muscle pounds. Yes, the French creole champion was damn lucky....Anyway, even in his peak condition, he would have never beaten the Austrian Oak. Especially with he whole "Weider sold" jury against him - Nubret.
@Damien francis ARE YOU KIDDING ME! Without consulting the internet, NAME 1 FREAKING MOVIE THAT SERGE NUBRET WAS IN! I have been Bodybuilding Training since I was 10 Years Old and am quite a Historian of the Sport. I go back to when Muscle & Fitness was Muscle Builder. I AM FULLY AWARE OF SERGE's Acting Career and unlike your self, HONESTLY SPEAKING, I think I might be able to name one, only cause I was studying up on Serge's Mysterious Death just last week While I was training. I Did HOWEVER NOTICE THAT YOU FAILED TO SAY JUST WHAT MOVIE OR PART HE WAS EVER IN. To End this, Serge is a Bodybuilding God. Incredible Torso, however, if I competed professionally ROIDED, I would take my very own Physique over his. I train Naturally Always have. I'm quite sure I would fair well with my genetics. There would also be a few other Bodybuilders Physiques I would take against no Nubret. NO LEGS IS ALWAYS A FACTOR! And yes for the Record who doesn't know about Arnold's Acting?
Эд Корни сверх шикарен. Его позирование это нечто , я раз 20 пересмотрел. Арнольд позаимствовал пару приемчиков у Корни , но у него не очень получилось
In 1973 and 1974, his legs were perfectly proportioned with his upper body. All pictures prove that. He lacked a bit of his usual size in 1975 because he trained only 4 months that year and could not regain the lean muscle mass he lost for the movie. As a result, he was only 230 lbs.
This video is a joke. It is so poor quality that you cannot really see posers like Nubret and Beckles. Nubret needs to be under good lighting and resolution since his physique is so reliant on definitions, detail and striation.
+KLEGT500KR +Lisa Candela IT's CALLED JUDGING A CONTEST. A competitor needs to have legs. Conditioning and Vascularity is down the list. It does not and should not Supercede MASS AND SYMMETRY! CASE PROVEN, look at Lee Haney and Dorian Yates. They changed the game when they brought more MASS TO THE STAGE. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I know they had conditioning but Lou is at least 8-9 % lean here which I'm sure is more lean than you and me. My point overall is that if it was judged with a SOUND FORMAT, Lou would have edged Nubret. Nubret has a beautiful Classic Physique BUT YOU MUST JUDGE ACCORDINGLY! But HELL, that's the JOKE OF BODYBUILDING, I have never seen nor heard of a Judging Breakdown on percentages of what is important? I have been in contest and RIPPED OFF MYSELF and have seen other Bodybuilders RIPPED OFF. At the very least, there should be CLEAR JUDGING GUIDELINES WRITTEN AND IN PLAIN VIEW SO BODYBUILDERS KNOW WHAT THEY ARE BEING JYDGED ON. I am also FULLY AWARE THAT LOU NEVER BEAT ARNOLD AT THE OLYMPIA. The WINNING IN THE END COMMENT WAS BASICALLY WRITTEN VAGUELY. I meant that LOU WON IN A WAY OVER NUBRET CAUSE LOU WENT ON TO THE INCREDIBLE HULK and made some decent dough. Sorry for not clarifying
+A. Wiz you say that Lou won in a way over Nubret because Lou went on to the Incredible Hulk..... Nubret was already an established movie star in Europe years before the 75 Mr. Olympia lol
This is such awesome footage!
King of bodybuilding - Arnold
King of aesthetics - frank

Strongest bodybuilder - Franco

09:34 man....wow !
Frank Louis freaky for that back in the seventies very dense muscle
Awesome find here!
The IFBB has done a disservice to the competitors and fans alike for not properly video documenting the sport. This is the most we've seen on this show, And some shows, to me most notably is the absence of any footage from the 76 Olympia. What, is this somehow related to the Kennedy assassination...???
Incredible lower back.,nice definition in legs with good lines, calves very huge ,nice shape &physigue
It's like a betting show with the best bodies and posings
This was some cool epic shit!
ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER a legnagyobb !!!!!!!
Who is the 3rd guy onstage for individual posing with the white posing suit?
yournotmyboss
Thats Guiseppe Deiana from Holland.
what a fabulous win out of Arnold, he looked amazing in that massively deep deep field of 2 other competitors
Yea you woulda been a solid 5th after the cameraman I'm sure
Is this 1975?
Back when Zane had no chance.
Arnold looked like a cartoon.....
All top half and no legs.....
Arnold didnt seem to like hitting a rear lat spread did he?
No that never was his strongest.
especially standing next to Franco who had an awesome rear lat spread
+tony hancock He had a great rear lat spread. He did it against Franco numerous times in his career. It was a required pose for the comparison shots. Here is a picture of a 260 lbs Arnold (1972, Sydney Australia) hitting rear lat spread next to Franco and he holds his own. Franco naturally had very short limbs so his lats used to look bigger than they actually were since there was no gap between the lats and the arms.

KLRGT500KR
That's not a contest where Arnold hit a rear lat spread against Franco.
This is one of the few pics of him doing a lat spread:

Edgar: You are incorrect on all accounts. Let's go through this one by one:
1 - Rear lat spread was a mandatory pose in the 1970s.
Here is Arnold in 1974 off-season in Australia
forum.bodybuilding.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=43466&d=1055374810
3 - You are also incorrect about Arnold's weight in this video at 245 lbs.

Surge Nubret forever .
+A. Wiz (TheWizardofChinoHills) Lou won in the end? You might want to check our Arnold's resume on IMDB.
Who recorded this??
Probably someone from the crowd...
Ken Waller (Mr. Universe winner in Pumping Iron movie) filmed a lot of the contest and surrounding drama with his 8mm.. In fact, he is spotted filming in more than one scene in the Pumping Iron film. I wonder if this is his film.
Lou could win in 1976
lol was just thinking the same think!
which one is ed corney
@01:15 and 11:41
Arnold looked incredible in 1975. His conditioning was insane. Besides Arnold the second best i'd have to give it to Serge Nubret. That man is a VERY underrated bodybuilder. His physique was awesome too. My favorite pose was his infamous one at 11:09
Frank Zane looks huge
8:28 Arnold
In terms of torso development..Franco may have been the best Mr. Olympia EVER! His upper pecs, back, rear delts(huge rear delts) and awesome abs made him every bit the Mr. Olympia winner. But..Corney had better arms and legs and nice overall lines. True he wasn't as ripped as Franco but if we are talking about overall proportions and lack of weaknesses..Corney beats Franco.
Qualidade de imagem péssima. Consertem isso.
Quer câmeras de 4k HD em 1975?
😎😎😎😎
franco's lats wowww
Ed Corney should have won the under 200 pound that year.....Not Franco. !
Are you watching this vedio for arnold?🤔🤔🙅🙅
This 3Gp way
The 19 70s too 190s was the bast now it all went too shit
The real deal
I gotta say back in 1975 Ed Corney was so much better than Frank Zane..
Редкие кадры
Anthology...tooo bad for audio..
Beef it.
Wait till u see, it's to a point.
Arnold was the best, no doubt--complete package. but then, there was limited competition . its safe to say he'd make the top 5 today..
In 1973 and 1974, his legs were perfectly proportioned with his upper body. All pictures prove that. He lacked a bit of his usual size in 1975 because he trained only 4 months that year and could not regain the lean muscle mass he lost for the movie. As a result, he was only 230 lbs.
I think serge nubret was the best
This proves Franco never had good definition in his quads.
This video is a joke. It is so poor quality that you cannot really see posers like Nubret and Beckles. Nubret needs to be under good lighting and resolution since his physique is so reliant on definitions, detail and striation.
It was always said that this was Frank Zane's worst Olympia performance. But he still looked and posed great! And Bill Grant was fantastic!
+Kevin C This is the first time I've seen actual footage of Zane. This is him at his worst!??!
Kevin C no that was 1980 frank had been ill
serge win for sure there is no comparison
karar may yep at least for heavy weight class
karar may Lol no
+KLEGT500KR +Lisa Candela IT's CALLED JUDGING A CONTEST.
Olympia lol
This film is such poor quality and so poorly lighted that its not worth very much.
That's exactly how I feel about *Twilight* movies.
