You can just picture all those drivers faces as they look in the rear view mirror and see a black 2CV closing in on them!! 95 bhp+ 680kgs = gr8 fun lolololol
Spectacular! A few years ago I was thinking of doing something similar, and I mean the idea of using a power plant Boxer 2 cylinders. The sound is still the same !!! My sincerest congratulations! Greetings from Argentina (where we have many Citroëns 3CV rolling in our streets)
Owned 3 2CVs and had 1 with turbo, lightened crank and flywheel, no idea of the HP but better carburation with a large delorto, as soon as you start getting more HP you really really need better discs, used slightly larger ventilated (therefore thicker) discs with the twin pot callipers from the donor car, 25+ years ago now, braided lines, better fluid and pads, rear drums are adequate. Lose as much weight as you can off the car, composite doors, wings, boot lid, bonnet, rear seats & polycarbonate windows all around, other than the windscreen. Cut suspension tubes underneath apart and put stiffer springs in, Monroe (I think) dampers as they are horizontally mounted, not many worked horizontally. Lowering (by adjustment of the suspension tie rods) changes the naturally soft rising rate to softer so compensating by much stiffer springs gave a comfortable ride with slightly less body roll, yes it had an anti roll bar, some didn't. The main problem was it topped out at about 85/90mph simply because I never got around to figuring out how to change the gearing in top. Not really a problem though as up to 80 was paramount really. Great fun and never failed to get interested looks after seeing off BMs & GTIs at the next junction or lights. Fantastic platform to use for a sleeper. Sold it about 17 years ago and lost touch with it's history after that. Seeing this brought it all back. Well driven and the sound XXX Just one thing, cane it into, round and out of every corner, if not the tyres, even wider ones, will try tucking in 🙂
Oh that was hilarious to watch! I did a 24hour race in Ireland and it was a normal 2CV not like your beauty! That was such fun to watch as Mallory was a favourite circuit of mine!
Wow, how much of that pace is down to the skill, testicular fortitude, and circuit knowledge of the driver? His ability to keep up the momentum of the car is really impressive.
The driver does have big balls but the car was very fast for what it was. Engine was second hand, unknown mileage or history. Never checked. Just changed the oil. It is all 2cv parts apart from the engine. stiffer springs, Ami shocks, 2cv brakes, clutch and gearbox. I just wish it had been a bit nicer but then thats half the fun.
Pete Sparrow, I guess the poor conditions played to the strengths of you, and the car. You'd have been crushing some ego's out there. I'm really impressed by how robust the standard 2CV mechanicals are, and how well you make it handle. Great work
Love it, Love it, love it! Utter madness! Back in the 1970s we had a 2CV, a Dyane and a Ami 6 Break. Now I drive an Abarth 595, would love this instead!
I thought it was gonna be a 2CV with a BMW M3 engine or something lol - but brilliant job, still a flat twin engine I guess, and light weight to outbrake & humiliate everything through the corners - formidable!
The original pre WW2 engineering brief was so ahead for its time, the Nazi were looking for the drawings & prototype cars but could not find them. Only after WW2 did Citroen start producing the 2CV. The Snails design is legendary.
the suspension springs may be standard, as in the standard 200% hardened springs that are regulation in the 2cv racing class. but either way this look fun and definitely makes me want to have a try at making such a car myself ive seen too many bmw boxers powering trykes how hard is it to add that extra wheel?
5:10 Holy moly! I was expecting this car to be a bit quick from the description, but skinning a Caterham, under power, on a straight, I was not expecting! Quite the wolf-in-sheep's-clothing! As for testing stock transmission to the limit - did I hear the clutch struggling a couple of times there?
That is funny! Love the way it goes around corners...it uses all four tyres to grip whilst normal cars rely mainly on the outside tyres. It has only very thin tyres...for sure there not racing slicks....
Best thing I've seen at the track in a long time. What's next a Mini-Van or maybe a Rolls ? I would give anything to see the look on there faces when a 2cv was all over there back door, then blows by. Thanks so much.
Absolutley love it WANT ONE !!! WANT ONE !!! WANT ONE !!! minimum amount of car for maximum fun who needs to spend thousands of pounds on some modern up to date plastic piece of shit when you can have loads of enjoyment out of one of these upside down jelly mouldS. HATS OF & WELL DONE THAT MAN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sorry but i don`t understand or you are completely wrong. Standard suspension in 2CV is not Citroen Gas Hydraulic System but traditional, common spring for 2 wheels on left side and same for right side. What makes it extremely soft and causes big side tilt on turns.
enjoyed the vid as used to drive one of these years ago. great fun trying not to roll it on corners but they just hang on for dear life. I wanted to hear that motor more as when you could hear it over the crap music (as usual) it sounded very good and nicely tuned. a good car for cheap racing , love the way it was smoking some of the contenders on the track.
To be accurate, the two 'Sevens' weren't Caterhams, probably low spec Westies, they don't look the same at all. What surprised me was the Elise S1! Mind you the 2CV wasn't filmed overtaking it. The 2CV driver was pedaling a lot better than the rest...it helps!
Awesome how the 2CV passes all of the hot hatches under brakes!
Fantastic, definitely warrants a roll cage, and a feature on Top Gear!
Best ever use of a BMW boxer twin I've seen.
The slamming of the door (on the seatbelt) makes me feel we’re brothers. Thanks for posting!
You can just picture all those drivers faces as they look in the rear view mirror and see a black 2CV closing in on them!! 95 bhp+ 680kgs = gr8 fun lolololol
You could have some seriously naughty fun with that as a road car!
This is about the greatest thing I've ever seen
Well, I could watch THAT over and over again....
Go Duck Go!!! What a little gem imho, still a fun vid years later, cheers!
MAGNIFIQUE !!!!
That's crazy, what a good idea, well done sir!
Less weight, brakes late! He could have lapped the field with a better gearbox. Excellent driving 👍
Simply brilliant. That suspension works for low power with revs.
Spectacular!
A few years ago I was thinking of doing something similar, and I mean the idea of using a power plant Boxer 2 cylinders. The sound is still the same !!!
My sincerest congratulations!

Markos Gallo .totalmente amigo

Passing a catherham in a 2cv, hahaha.
That looks like so very much fun. Great job on the conversion.
utterly brilliant bit of engineering and great video.
Oh that was hilarious to watch! I did a 24hour race in Ireland and it was a normal 2CV not like your beauty! That was such fun to watch as Mallory was a favourite circuit of mine!
You should do a 'Sahara' version of this with another identical motor in the boot driving the rear wheels.
That would be cheating !! Unfair advantage.
Wow, how much of that pace is down to the skill, testicular fortitude, and circuit knowledge of the driver? His ability to keep up the momentum of the car is really impressive.
Heureusement qu'il n'a pas essayé de mettre un moteur de 2CV dans une caisse de BMW ! En tout cas c'est grandiose
MB Janus Yes, he made the wise choice ;-)

Great work
I've had a 2CV 1968, oil cooled... but this one's an amazing beast. I miss my Citroeeeeennn!!!
This is one of the greatest things I've ever seen! 😃
love the casual driving style..
Love it, Love it, love it! Utter madness! Back in the 1970s we had a 2CV, a Dyane and a Ami 6 Break. Now I drive an Abarth 595, would love this instead!

Hey, Lex
That red Astra just couldn't let go the fact it was overtaken by a duck
probably had a "misfire"
@@spiderwebb4983 Well it's never recovered from the misfire. It's well and truly SORNed
Ice cool, absolutely love that, want one!
This car is damn near immune to understeer.
Antiroll bar from an Ami?
Truly. The late/no braking and about zero understeer is boggling.
The original pre WW2 engineering brief was so ahead for its time, the Nazi were looking for the drawings & prototype cars but could not find them. Only after WW2 did Citroen start producing the 2CV. The Snails design is legendary.
Awesome! That was the greatest ride ever!
Can't wait for the aero kit!
Brilliant driver and a demon 2cv...an epic combination!
Fantastic! Very well done!

132 people got passed by this 2CV
And with such a light car heavy more then one person on board make a huge difference!
Excellent!!!!
You can trust Pete Sparrow 110%, if he says he lowered a stock suspension, then that's what he did.
It's like watching the French Herbie :D
That's right.. 😁😂
Hervě 😅
BMW flat twin is the perfect choice. With a R1200GS unit, it would be perfect and even more powerful (125 hp).
There’s plenty of room still,under that bonnet.Enough for a turbo (or two?)😃
the more power, the faster the gearbox will give out.
i really enjoy the video, i would like to see the faces of the other drivers xD nice job!
Chappeau!
My Citroen Dyanne never sounded this good!
thank's for posting brilliant.
He was beating everything lol.. looks great fun
First time they see it: "What the fuck is that doing here?"
Second time they see it: "How the fuck is it going so fast?"
That will break a few eggs now.
Merci mister c est toujours un plaisir de regarder sa comme quoi les autres ne sont que palle copie de notre 2cv 😂❤
That flat twin growl tho
That is funny! Love the way it goes around corners...it uses all four tyres to grip whilst normal cars rely mainly on the outside tyres. It has only very thin tyres...for sure there not racing slicks....
TRUTH SEEKER more over, the front wheels incline to the inside when you turn, like motocycles do.
Excellent driving
Beau travail sur le châssis ça tient la route
Is this the new GranTurismo 7 trailer?
Just a Random Dude
XDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
looking foward to seeing it go go from the outside.
ha ha Awesome ! Well done and great driving too !
95bhp into 680kg! That’s about 139bhp per ton?! Sooooooomuch fun!
my dream car
That is a little ripper and to have 2 people in the car , nice
Bloody love that car brilliant
Fantastic. Very cool
Funtastic . Should have kept my BMW R 1100 Rt motor and put in into our 2cv .
Fabulous reminder of what fun it was racing a 2CV in 1990, until the money ran out ;-)
Its all old racing bits on there. Just stuff that was obsolete. 30th year of 2cv racing in 2019. Look it up.
it really like inside corners doesn't it!
no overheating brakes?
really cool to see this, i really love it!
Spookeend No brakes, that's why they dont overheat. 😂
I think the brakes are inboard? Might be wrong but when you don't bother with braking for corners, who cares?😁
J'adore, superbe vidéo !!!
I would love to see her on the Nürburgring 😍🤘
Just nipping out to the shops, love. I'll take the 2CV because it's easier to park.
Best thing I've seen at the track in a long time. What's next a Mini-Van or maybe a Rolls ? I would give anything to see the look on there faces when a 2cv was all over there back door, then blows by. Thanks so much.

HATS OF & WELL DONE THAT MAN !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Excellent, moi aussi je voudrais voir la tête des autres pilotes.
Just a lowering, or maybe uprated springs available from say ECAS- But that's what you'll do on any trackcar.
The only thing that could make this better is for the car to be in Charleston colours!
So is it now a 6cv?
Bravo mon gars
That's genius, the ultimate Sleeper. Would a K series fit also?
Bravo !!!Super !!!
Magnifique superbe réalisation.
Sorry but i don`t understand or you are completely wrong. Standard suspension in 2CV is not Citroen Gas Hydraulic System but traditional, common spring for 2 wheels on left side and same for right side. What makes it extremely soft and causes big side tilt on turns.
Incroyable!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Great sound!
Excellent, sur le coup les autres pilotes n e devaient pas tout comprendre. 👍
That showed em!
"The car you cannot overturn" .
It's been done .
Is that the 1100S boxer engine air/oil cooled (judging by the redline on the tacho)?
Yes, standard 1100S straight out of a bike
enjoyed the vid as used to drive one of these years ago. great fun trying not to roll it on corners but they just hang on for dear life.
I wanted to hear that motor more as when you could hear it over the crap music (as usual) it sounded very good and nicely tuned. a good car for cheap racing , love the way it was smoking some of the contenders on the track.
You couldn't roll it even if you tried your best. Flat out full lock all four on the ground, windows flapping in the wind...
Superb, ridiculous, I love it.
The second guy isnt in there because he had to, he is in there for the weight distribution, to stay on the track if he makes a corner......😂👍
En argentina hace años preparamos citroens 3cv para carreras, compiten en una multimarca junto con los fiat 600 y los renault gordini.
btw what are these smaller nascars on the track?
Legends is what the series were (are?) called. Corolla back axle, superbike power, scratch built economy race car remainders
What engine has this car. How many pontency are?
BMW 1100 flat twin.
what was happening with the glutch at some gears it was slipper?
Ese 2cv es ¡¡aterrador!!!
The suspension still working?
Fabulous!
Espectacular!!
That 2cv has more beans than all other 2cvs combined.
Is it the standard 2cv gearbox? Or is it GS club box?
Its a long ratio 2cv one. Apart from the engine all 2cv or Ami parts
I bet it was not only faster, but also more comfortable than most of the opposition! If he turned down the music, he would have gone supersonic!
Yes it is
