“If I actually wanted to read it, I would’ve read it” is an interesting way to start your video about a book.
DFW did the whole “endnotes” back and forth for a reason- right?
I don’t see how an analysis by some dude who didn’t bother to read the novel in the way that DFW clearly wanted you to proceeds to go off on it.
It seems to to me that a so clearly meant to be READ (especially since DFWs main point in Infinite Jest is that people have become too lazy and don’t want to work to get intellectual rewards!)
This absolutely disqualifies you automatically from being able to analyze this book.

Don Gately is far from forgettable. He is Hal's foil!! And the one who is actually redeemed instead of fully ruined my his ways or past. :)

Yeah this review of IJ is sooooo bad.
He “read” the book in audiobook which is exactly the opposite way this book is meant to be read

Gately is the best. Gately is the only redeemable character in IJ. Don G. has a chance of becoming a better person and he tries hard to.
That’s because he follows the rules of AA that he doesn’t like or even agree with. Every other character rejects the cliche and religious aspects of AA. Gately rejects those but understands he needs to do these cliche things to be a better person.

DFW is rolling in his grave at this review
Infinite Jest clearly critiques ’ Americans laziness and unwillingness to “do the work to get the reward” .
And you immediately say “I didn’t read the book the way the author wanted me to” ????
Why should anyone listen to an analysis by you when you refuse to listen to DFW’s entire point?? Having to work, put in effort, and get a reward at the end IS the point.
You are exactly who DFW is criticizing
