Been a bit, eh? I'm still alive, I'm just working full time now and life has been more than a little chaotic. Maxim was a character I played in a Godbound game some five-ish years back. A god of the forge, he held the power "Transmuter" which reads as follows: "Commit Effort for the scene and turn one 10 x 10 x 10 foot cube of material per hero level from one physical substance into another. Items being used or held by a creature cannot be changed. If the effect is used to somehow harm targets, they take a 1d6 damage die for every two character levels of the hero, rounded up. If the substance being created is rare or precious, Effort must be committed for the day. Extremely rare and magical substances cannot be created this way, though mountains of gold can be fabricated. See the Wealth Word for limits on the use of this newfound treasure, as it is all too easy to inflate a region’s mundane economy into chaos." So, after getting a hit in with the hammer and reading over my powers at the end of the first turn of combat with this flaming beast, I ask "is water a physical substance?" The GM is confused, and says "I guess so?" so I pull out this power. This is when I find out Conflagration-type creatures take 1d8 damage *per gallon* of water. After some calculation, I rolled several hundred D8s and killed the thing in one hit with a non-combat ability. Have you ever taken advantage of a strange wording like this?
i haven't used wording, but a similar clever bit of unintended mechanical interaction was that one time in a D&D game i used the Catapult first level spell and the Masonry artisan skill to kill and entire pack of goblins by removing the critical stone holding up the tower ruin they were in
I used an elevator to kill a space dragon once. Starfinder, and we're at the top of a spire and fighting an augmented red dragon, having gotten there by elevators running at space magic level speeds. I was the tank, and the fight was going badly. So I attached a line of cord to the dragon's chest, and the other end of the line to the elevator car, and sent it. Dc 27 strength check to break the cord, dc 25 to break the coupling attached to the cord. Gm rolled and both the elevator and the dragon failed to break the cord or connection. The dragon proceeds to get sucked down the shaft. Gm described it as "a hard boiled egg being sucked down a hole the size of a dime in a matter of 2 seconds" Nothing but pulped meat left at the bottom of the shaft. Was a great day.
Gonna say i love this channel and I hope one day this kind of content can return to being regularly posted, especially the all guardsmen party. Though I do have to say, keep up the amazing work when you can and your voice has gone from great to amazing!
Just wanted to leave this somewhere you’d see: It was roughly 4 years ago(maybe even 5) now that I found one of your videos. The stories you read would give me chills back then. They were what introduced me into the world of ttrpgs and for that you have my sincerest thanks and my eternal respect.
I don't know if this like a weird take or anything, but I like how little your voice changed (at least to my ears) it's a little bit higher but the biggest difference is how much emotion and flair you're putting into your work, it's very good!
They're back Your stories really are well narrated! Yessssss! I was really sad when they stopped. I hope this is not a one off and that you'll be doing some more in the future 😊
Welcome back! Fantastic to have you with us again, Tale Forge! And am certainly glad to see works of your own, to boot! Thank you. Truly. Whatever has been happening, we're always glad to have you back!
