Hi, I'm a 6.7L powerstroke guy and as you can imagine I am intimately familiar with CP4 issues. I stumbled onto your video and wanted to share some info with you and your viewers. First let me say that everything you have shared in this video is spot on, especially the part about adding lubricity to your fuel. This is the single most important thing you can do to prevent a CP4 failure. Add your favorite lubricity additive at EVERY fill up! First time diesel owners are typically unaware that adding lubricity to their fuel is even a thing, much less how important it is with modern diesel fuel. Glad you are helping to educate folks on this. Now on to the good stuff: There is finally starting to be light at the end of the tunnel for us CP4 owners thanks to S&S diesel. Last year, they released a CP4 to DCR conversion for 6.7L powerstroke owners. I just watched a S&S interview this morning (link below) that says they are now starting to focus on other platforms, including the ecodiesel. This is great news for you guys. I've already installed the DCR conversion in my 6.7L and it has been flawless. The fit and finish of the kit was top notch and looks OE. Whenever they release a conversion kit for RAM and Jeep ecodiesels I would definitely recommend you jump on it! I don't have any information on the recall you speak of, but unless they completely eliminate the CP4 then whatever "fix" they are installing is nothing but a band-aid. Definitely start using lubricity additive today if not already. Here's the link. Skip to the 12:45 mark in the video to see the blurb about them working on a solution for the ecodiesel. Good luck to you guys! ruclips.net/video/d0_EJzGzTh4/видео.html

88k miles on my ‘20 Ram Ecodiesel and the HPFP went out Oct 23. Truck is still at the dealership waiting for parts. Dealer wanted to replace it with the same pump that has been recalled. I’m reluctant to allow for that since the pump failed as I was driving down the road, leaving me stranded in the middle of an intersection, and luckily my 3 yr old wasn’t in the truck at the time. The dealer doesn’t know when the corrected pump will be available and is guessing this is going to be a lengthy process since they have to replace the entire fuel system, like you stated, and parts aren’t readily available. Yep Bosh cp4 ford continues to use it. I have 200k my ford. Plenty of 3-400k mile cp4. The other pumps you are talking about is the cp3 Chevy and dodge went back the cp3
My dealer had said they had a service bulletin a while back on the Rams that the HP fuel pump and return was causing asphaltenes to be created and sludging up the fuel tanks. They suggested running Diesel Kleen Silver bottle through every couple of tanks of fuel.
33k mile’s Gladiator died on the freeway, was told by dealership they are waiting for parts. The advisor asked me if I pumped diesel or gasoline, they tested the diesel and found metal shavings in fuel tank stilll under warranty
They finally got the part in 2 weeks ago for my Jeep. They are only allowed to order one pump at a time. Didn’t have any issues with the old one but finally got my recall taken care of.
Yeah, I've got a diesel Gladiator, and i got the recall notice. There aren't any parts available yet as of this post, I literally just got back from the dealership asking about it. I don't know what diesel costs most areas of the country, but here in eastern PA, it's right about the same as premium gas. There IS a super high amount of variation in prices tho - like +/- $1 /gal among stations, which doesn't happen with gas to the same degree.
2016 ram 1500…engine overheated and blew up instantly. It’s been at the dealer for 5 months and they don’t want to accept that the metal debris in the engine has been caused by the fuel pump failure, as the truck now needs a new motor. Any suggestions ?
Received the letter May of '23. Went to the dealer for advice to drive or park since I have a couple trips planned. They said call Chrysler and ask, and no solution available. So I did, and they said contact the dealer with that question and no solution available yet. This is not fun.
Our 21 ram eco was towed to the shop last week. The diagnose was a failed fuel pump. Service advisor states the parts will be delivered 11/2. I doubt this to be true. Once 11/2 comes and goes, I’ll open a case with FCA. This was our first diesel and probably our last.
I have a 2020 that is idling like it’s off in timing, but then when I hit the gas nothing happens. I feel like this is the recall. Has anyone heard of a fix?
Thank you for the tip on the lubricant additive . In regards to this recall, I got the letter and as of today Oct 2023 all the time I keep asking the dealer about the fix, the dealer keeps saying they’re working on it and don’t have a fix. I have contact at Chrysler engineering dept and I was told there’s no one working on diesel programs anymore. They’re all turning to EV. I have a 2015 Ecodiesel w/110K miles and my intake manifold is clogged with soothing from the EGR. And the dealer is still reluctant to replace it. Any suggestion here? What’s the reason for this amount of soothing in the system ? Tks
Taking mine in tomorrow morning for mt gladiator they were good I've had no problems got a letter about the recall. I've only got about 19200 miles on mine haven't had any problems up until the last week. Drop in fuel economy mostly especially on the highway. I did add cross bars recently but I was still getting 21-22mpg if I was driving good on the highway. And that's with the stage two tune. I love the ecodiesel engine I believe it was a great platform and If we had a Littles regulation on emissions it would be one of the most fun affordable diesel engines to get some insane power out of. I've heard of some people tuning and getting 550-600hp out of them...
i heard back a few years that a big reason for the cp4 to fail was air in the system, running it dry for as little as 15 seconds was enough to stuff it, doing a filter change wrong and not having the filter completely full or the filter getting blocked also causes a greater chance of it sucking in air as well put extra stress on the pump. this was from a forum talking about it on a Cummins. they were discussing fitting a additional fuel pump before the filter and also adding a extra fuel filter with bigger capacity i think I was a airdog pump filter system but i could be wrong, i don't know if it fixed it and stopped it from happening again later as i haven't been thinking about it until your video just now, be interesting to find out more about it ,i might have to look into it some more.
I was just at the dealership today in Las Vegas. They told me about this issue same as what everyone else is saying. They have new (2022) gladiator diesels at their overflow yard that they can't sell until a fix can be made. As of yet no fix available.
18 Ram eco diesel. 84000miles. Just ordered the GDE tune and needed to make sure the software in my truck was up to date. So I took it in to the dealership. They informed me I had two pending recalls. One was this fuel pump which I knew about. Last year during a service I asked if they could fix it at that time but no parts. So they would call when parts become available. Which the never did. Anyway this time around the actually had a fuel pump in stock and will now complete the repair/recall after almost one year. I have had a few issues with my truck but nothing major and it has been a great vehicle. Replaced the 8.4 radio, laminated screen was coming apart. Replace the blower motor fan three times…..and DPF code 20E9 has popped up twice. The replaced my radio. I replaced blower motor fans. And cleaned my dpf injector once and since then have had no problems. I think if I had to do it again I would have just purchased a 6.4hemi 2500 to pull my travel trailer with.
I did hear when Cummins went to the CP4 they had problems too and went back to the CP3 design. That might be the fix, just need to produce enough for the recall.
I own a 2015 1500 EcoDiesel and I just had my HPFP replaced last week due to this issue. In fact, It failed while merging on the highway. Luckily I was unloaded and had minimal cargo when it happened. Q. Was it difficult dealing with the dealership? A. No, my experience was surprisingly pleasant and the truck was down for a little more than a week. The only negative to this was that they replaced the HPFP with a new pump but a KNOWN defective pump. So I will be back in the shop when the upgraded version becomes available. Luckily the repair was 100% covered and I'd hope this applies to everyone else with these engines. This all happened just past 127K mile mark at the end of November 2022.
Can you replace the pump with a different pump like one you've named ??? Thx in the market and was looking to get it in the gladiator so watching your video is making me think twice !!
I've got 12k miles on my Gladiator Rubi eco with no problems yet. However, with the price of diesel and all these problems I keep hearing about, I'm really starting to think about trading it in and going back to gas, which is what I had with my first Gladiator in 2020. I may even trade in for RAM.
Update: I started using the hotshot EDT and am now at 14k miles; Fuel economy is now 22mpg around down, up from 20mpg before I was using it. Very pleasantly surprised.
my 2021 rebel ecodeisel failed at 15,000 miles and again at 32,000 miles. RAM is currently in the process of buying my truck back you might want to trade it ASAP if you can. I love that truck. it does exactly what I ask it until the fuel pump gives out.
I have a 2022 Gladiator Ecodiesel with 5700miles and I getting a ticking noise that increases frequency when I step on it and slows at idle. I am worried that the injection pump is the problem.
I’ve got a 6.7 Powerstroke. 143k miles. Cp4 failed about 10 days ago. Dealer wanted $17k to replace the fuel system. Found an independent shop to replace it with a DCR pump instead for $14k. I had no idea about this type of issue before it happened. I would have lit the truck on fire on the side of the road had I known. that’s going to be your best option if this happens to you out of warranty. My insurance wouldn’t cover it
I have 180000 Km (Canada) on my ecodiesel, totally happy with it, a sensor and emergency brake line the only problems. Took to dealer for pump replacement (recall) now I have a hum in the engine. dealer found nothing. Anybody have this issue? Is their a Fix?
19k on my my JTRD. No problems yet. Also, for some reason California has the cheapest diesel compared to gasoline prices. It usually costs between the same as regular or premium gas.
I have a 2021 JL Diesel Rubicon. I have 18,000 miles, on the freeway going 60 to 75 mph, the Jeep starts jerking like crazy. At 80+ mph, it runs perfect. The dealer tells me they can look at my Jeep for 3 weeks.
I have a 21 diesel gladiator. HPFP recall done December 23 . 2 weeks later leaked diesel every where. Took back to dealer . Supposedly fixed leak. 2 weeks later went to start gladiator and the engine blew up with only 15,000 miles on it. CP4 catastrophic failure ruined engine. Still under warranty. They said they would fix it. The replacement engine is here but no pump. One month later they finally ordered cp4 pump. 3 weeks later said there is none to have in all the United states. Filled a complaint with FCA with a case number. Still there is nothing happening. The dealership said there is nothing that they can do . I’m up to 2 and 1/2 months and no end in sight. I will get ahead lawyer next I suppose. Don’t know what to do about this.
Is this issue also with the jeep grand Cherokee ? Dont know if they are the same as the wrangler. My buddy has one and just had the whole motor replaced by Jeep it virtually melted down and ate itself
Wh-what? I'm in CA and had mine smogged in April, 2023, and am due again in November. And I have to drive it from where I keep it in NV to CA for the smog. This is ridiculous. So where does this sit now for you?
This past Monday my fuel pump failed and I was told by the dealer that it will take weeks to get parts. They stated there is no fix still for the pump and if it wasn’t for the fact the Jeep Rubicon had only 16,000 miles, we would be having a “25 to 30k conversation”. I was told the fuel pump sent shards of metal all through the fuel system and every hose, fitting, injector, and every part of the fuel system will be replaced. I asked if injectors were damaged, are they checking the pistons and liners. They said we’ll go through the whole system and make sure it’s repaired correctly. Quite frankly, I don’t trust them to fix everything where I don’t have a failure down the road and if my engine blows, they won’t cover it. Im afraid the’ll try to blame something else and not cover it. I love my Jeep and I am very distraught over this. Sorry but im no mechanic and don’t want to come across like I know anything. I only know how to break them, but I do keep up with all my maintenance. Last note, we live in California and we had just put fueled with some “Renewable Diesel” Thank you for any comments.
I’m in the midst of a nightmare with my 2014 eco-diesel. I took it to a dealership and they pulled the sensor out of the pump to show me metal shavings. They said they could get parts and that I should be covered under warranty because I hadn’t gone past 150k mile. A week later, they told me FCA denied my warranty claim because of contaminants in the fuel. I stated that the contaminants were the metal shavings, but they said it didn’t look like metal shavings. The dealership told me to come and pick up my truck. It has been sitting on my property for three months now under a tarp. Hopefully a new dealership will examine all the fuel system to prove to FCA that there was metal shavings from the fuel pump. I love my truck, but just can’t stand these problems anymore.
What has happened since you posted this, if you care to share? I for one wouldn't be taking their denial of your claim sitting down, that's for sure. I own a '16 1500 Eco with only 56,000 miles and put my name on a waiting list with a dealer in Henderson, NV when I received the recall postcard, so it's been many months now with no contact from them. I hope by keeping the miles down, I may avoid some of the issues with the Eco. I keep the truck at my vacay home and only use it while we're out there, so I'm putting on only 1-2,000 miles per year.
Hey buddy....I have the 2021 Jeep wrangler rubicon with the ecodiesel... Ive had ZERO problems with it... No regrets buying it - the price of Diesel is ridiculous but nobody saw that coming. I have been following your videos for years - fantastic content. I do wish I would have gotten the Hemi jeep now that I see the true costs of owning the diesel. Great motor - but the EPA ruined it.
2021 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sport 3.0 EcoDiesel w/24K Miles has developed a stutter when accelerating between 44 & 66 miles per hour. I though maybe i got some bad diesel, so I changed the fuel filter myself with the result being no improvement. I just found out about the recall and have made an appointment with Arrigo CDJR in Margate, FL. They tell me that it will be 48 hrs. before they can even get someone to look. After they look at it, they may not even be able to get parts. It's still under warranty, but they'll only give me a loner for 5 days. We're on the hook for the rest of it. I'm not sure what we're going to do if it's a total fuel system issue... Keep fingers crossed. I'll try to comment if we get a resolution.

Have 22 Ecodiesel 44,200 miles Loved it until it broke down this week. Had it towed to the dealer diagnosed that High Pressure fuel pump went out, took fuel rail all injectors all fuel system OUT!!! So my 22 is not recalled because supposibly mine came from the plant were the perfect trucks came from.....lol right. So warranty kicks in correct, But now they want proof of Services that are done by a professional!! I do my services I use correct filters, oils and rather service my own that trust someone. So they are looking for a quick blame... If running thru this suggestion you can Google lawyer that is Sueing them and join the law suit. I Will NEVER BUY A RAM NO MORE!!
I change my fuel filter at every other oil change (every 15k-I change my oil every 7500 mi instead of the recommended 10K mi). I have @ 50K on my 2022 Ram ED and have had NO issues since I bought it new with 7 (yes, 7) miles on it.
I own a station. The Ford issue has been on going, They are fighting every customer holding their trucks in post tear down at the dealer in limbo. They are blaming fuel, water or trash. We are mandated to have a Veeder Root fuel monitor @ our cost $ 25,000.00. It has 24/7 with 12 probe monitoring of tanks at all times. If your bring receipts we can show time of purchase and condition of fuel. This is to protect the consumor. We have in line filters and water separators. We serve Fed Ex, Frito Lay and several service companies. The Ford trucks were engineered to have water/trash filters and idiot lights. If its fuel why isn’t the Ford design doing what it is supposed to do? Prevent and warn the customer before damage occurs. However if you a station and have that shitty of fuel then every customer shuts down with in short order or more than one will have any issue. Like a cluster. It is also the customer who must show where the fuel was purchased at , what time and proof it is from that station. The station must also be there in person to witness a proper control of product taken from the customer automobile tank so as to visualize no cross contamination occurs. ( mechanic cant dump some gas in a dirty bucket and say" there.. look at that bad fuel"). Special labels, containers and paper work follows sample as evidence to lab. Every fuel has a finger print. If your cross fuel with different brands you cant prove which is poor. I am also a environmental contractor that appreciates signature cradle to grave, sampling protocol and legal documentation. I have yet to see any dealership step up ( most are getting hurt by the factory too) , nor the factory with respect to their failure in engineering. Finally it look’s Fiat is. The factories are trying to obfuscate any culpabilities because of the shear cost for remediation of the parts issue. Time for some class actions like the tobacco.
The problem isn’t a temporary “bad batch” of diesel. The root of the issue is that the CP4 was designed for diesel which hasn’t been tampered with by the EPA. They have mandated that the sulfur be removed from US diesel and as a result, our diesel is much more dry than European diesel. The CP4 can only survive on the dry diesel for so long until it self destructs. In fact, the CP4 is used widely in Europe with a much lower failure rate than here in the US. This is why it is so critical to use a lubricity additive at every fill up. All the guys on here that suffered a failure under 100k miles almost certainly didn’t use an additive.
@@williamvillarinho8532 I took it in and it took about a week for the parts to come and they covered it under warranty, but shortly after I got a recall notice on the new part.

Just traded my 21 ecodiesel ram for a 22 Silverado HD Duramax. 32k miles on the ecodiesel before trading it in and I had zero issues.
80,000 on my Gladys. She still running strong. I do use Lucas fuel treatment, and Lucas diesel Deep Clean. No issues yet.
This all happened just past 127K mile mark at the end of November 2022.
after this happened, did you have a crank, no start sitsuation?
@darbycrash55 Yes. No crank, no Start. P016F code read.
How’s it running now ?
@@danielstout4267 I have a 2014 GC eco diesel at 166K miles and been worried.
my 2021 rebel ecodeisel failed at 15,000 miles and again at 32,000 miles.
No recall on my 22 Eco-Diesel. Manufactured in July 22
I have a 1500, and recently changed oil and found an oil leak at the back of the fuel pump, I hope it's not the front Engine cover. 80,000 miles
Thank You💪🏽❤️🙏🏽 I have a 2022 Jeep Gladiator
19k on my my JTRD. No problems yet. Also, for some reason California has the cheapest diesel compared to gasoline prices. It usually costs between the same as regular or premium gas.
S&s makes a disaster kit for ford, what it does, it saves the fuel system just in case for when the cp4 goes. It saves the injectors, & fuel rails.
77,000km on my '20 ecodiesel, zero issues.
I have new 2022 limited 1500 eco diesel , can you guide me how to maintain the truck in good condition?
You are correct, however insurance companies will cover this. Contaminated fuel.
No, only the diesel. Although my sisters Grand Cherokee just had to have the fuel pump replaced.
DMV in California doesn’t allow me to get my tags until recall is fixed
Really!!! How does that work? I just bought the Jeep and my renewal is next month.
Wh-what? I'm in CA and had mine smogged in April, 2023, and am due again in November. And I have to drive it from where I keep it in NV to CA for the smog. This is ridiculous. So where does this sit now for you?
I just spoke with my brother in CA and he smogged and tagged his '16 1500 Eco in August of this year.
Last note, we live in California and we had just put fueled with some “Renewable Diesel”
Thank you for any comments.
I have 2022 ram eco diesel at 10,000 good so far
will my regular warranty cover any problems from the fuel pump recall it's a 2021 1500 ecodiesel anybody know ?
The Grand Cherokee is also on Recall
I love my truck, but just can’t stand these problems anymore.
crank, no srart?
What has happened since you posted this, if you care to share? I for one wouldn't be taking their denial of your claim sitting down, that's for sure. I own a '16 1500 Eco with only 56,000 miles and put my name on a waiting list with a dealer in Henderson, NV when I received the recall postcard, so it's been many months now with no contact from them. I hope by keeping the miles down, I may avoid some of the issues with the Eco. I keep the truck at my vacay home and only use it while we're out there, so I'm putting on only 1-2,000 miles per year.
I wish they offered the hemi engine on the gladiators
Anyone have rear end vibration at highway speeds?
I have a 2020 Ram Limited EcoD thats been in the shop for a month. Not happy at all.
they give you a loaner to drive ?
I would like to hear from a dealership mechanic familiar with the issue. Any out there that would like to comment anonymously?
In the process on my 2022 ram 1500 eco. If the fuel system is fragged, Ram will be paying off my truck and buying me a new one.
Good that you don’t have issue but I think a lot of people saw the high cost of diesel coming.
My 2022 ecodiesel Ram 1500 was built 05/22 so it is not part of this group. So did they start putting in a different fuel pump after 01/22 ?
They still use the cp4 pump your truck is included, there is no fix yet for the pump so they havent started selling vehicles with a different pump yet
@@TheIamdevin Damn. I was hoping mine had a different pump and they were just having trouble sourcing them or something.
Keep ragging on the EPA but I prefer breathing. If we had no regulation on vehicles what do you think would happen?
We don't have to go to "no" regulation. But a lot LESS regulation would do wonders for our nation. Lower cost of living being chief among them.
@@4-LOW How would it effect cost of living? Easy to say things that aren’t able to be proved or even explained. You think more pollution would be better? That’s a poor argument and not where this country needs to go. Our children sure won’t like it in their future.

I Will NEVER BUY A RAM NO MORE!!
over 200k on my 2014 ecodiesel jeep
No issues? Do you use a fuel additive? How often do you do oil changes and fuel filter changes, if I may ask? Thx.
and maybe change your fuel filter at every oil change.
Missing that Toyota tundra
My 2022 jeep ecodiesel is in the shop right now for this
What happened? What has been your outcome? Mine had the failure this Monday.
@@williamvillarinho8532 I took it in and it took about a week for the parts to come and they covered it under warranty, but shortly after I got a recall notice on the new part.
