I used to drive great highway to work 5 days a week for 10 years. I'd always leave early, sit on the beach for a bit, then continue on. I have never seen waves like that there, ever. Unreal! Great vid.
The guy at 1:52 checking out the back for sets before he decides to enjoy that "inside" wall (still more power than most of the surfing world will see in a year). That's an Ocean Beach move, right there. Cause you pay for your fun and happiness in endless paddling and getting rinsed. Great video. Miss it.
Those dudes 1/2 mile out it looks.....they have some big locals(white sharks) in lineup there.....just a beast of a place.....cold water, paddle, sharks, monster current and shifty lineup

me too! I used to live in that neighborhood, favorite thing to do on a nice day was go get coffee at java beach and watch the waves and surfers! Thanks for the video :)
brings back memories. I used to surf off sloat when the pier was still there back in the 80s. I could see the waves from the house I lived in. Ice Cream Headaches.
Yep, me too, but it was the 90's for me. And as an added bonus for the effort, there was John's O.B. Cafe across the street for killer post surf grinds. Good times...
I have surfed OB many times. It’s a spooky place with dark Green water , heavy Rip-currents and Great whites. It’s a hard paddle through big green barrels thats are just spooky that’s the only way to describe it. A fun wave if you can get in just the right spot.
l really enjoyed the soundtrack but the end without the soundtrack is appreciated. It's amazing how loud big surf is. You can hear it pretty far inland- just a constant roar.
@@ba1428 I know, it's counterintuitive. You can't duck dive the bigger boards, but you need a board that will paddle fast between incoming waves. And you can get into waves earlier on the outside.
@@ba1428 Wow, that's awesome. I lived in Sydney for a bit but only surfed local beaches. Actually bought one of Nat's old boards. But my go-to board for anything over head-high at Ocean Beach was an 8-4 Michel Junod, 3" thick, a real meat wagon.
Great footage, your love for the place shines through.....sorry to be negative in previous comment :). OB is rad.....I've always been in pure terror mode when I've surfed there when it was like your images show.
Think I saw a video of a guy trying to paddle out for nearly a hour here the other day, dunno if it was the same wave, looks a tough paddle but definitely worth it.
Although OB is often too heavy for me to go out, I feel helllla lucky that this is my home break. So much power, personality, and beauty in that wave (if you can paddle out) + all at the end of the MUNI line.
Is the lineup super crowded on smaller days? I've never been to San Francisco, but I imagine it as 1 of the best cities you could ever see...the cityscape & the natural beauty combined, & then having something like Ocean Beach & Half Moon Bay for a playground. It seems dreamy to me...lol
Ahhhh amazing waves I always watch amazed riding the heavy waves with heavy music like Delta Parole or with relaxing music videos in background. If crazy like then always heavy tho
I was out on Ocean Beach this day and it was glorious. A lot of people watching surfers that day. Still confused about the opening shot showing the Pacifica Pier though. What's up with that!?
What up with not hitting those barrels? All the great waves you don't ride or it seems your boards are too slow. Only the body boarders were dropping in.
I have never surfed Mavericks. But I think 15 feet Ocean Beach is tougher than 30 feet Mavericks. The paddle to beat the shorebreak at OB is monster, there is no channel, and you always have to keep moving to avoid the riptides. At Mavericks there is a channel and as long as you keep close to the shoulder in the channel you can play it safe just watching and learning.
Some of the cleanest, biggest sets I’ve seen at OB, love the shot from the houses above, really gives perspective... Amazing video
Thank you i appreciate it! 🙏🏼
Colin...This is your Aunt Susie....Please be careful! Love ya!
haha thanks for watching!
So many guys out there to tame those monsters! OB locals are built different...
Right?! That paddle is gnarly!

those arent locals there mrhankys peanut crew they road the poo choo train all the way there

Once it gets over double over head you’ll find me on the beach getting drunk.
Hahahha, time to start training for next winter

That's my limit
That sounds good!
That paddle out, not this guy! I will pop a few beers and spectate with you👊

Just beautiful. That was a great day and I am sure that OB does not get that perfect very ofter. I bet those guys were absolutely stoked.

Beautiful day, seriously heavy waves, great film, committed surfers

These are the waves i wish for, we don't get waves like these here in Perth Australia, great filming

It's actually rare here, only a few times a year when it's like this. Often blown out, but I still love it.
Beautiful footage!
Many thanks!

Much respect to OB. I used to paddle out in my early twenties and it would be so brutal my lips would tingle from lack of oxygen.
At my age, my lips tingle for lack of oxygen from watching it. Lol!
Damn....my arms are tired just watching this. Heavy...thanks for the vid!
yeahh that paddle is no joke! thanks for watching!
Wow. Nicely done. Good surf well filmed.

Pretty heavy man! I’ve heard the currents are relentless at OB, the sultanas and raisins can be aggressive
it was heavy out there for sure! thanks for watching!

Nat Young is the standout anytime it gets big here. That's him at 7:06 with a sick drop in.

the nature of a beach break.

great video! seems about as good as it could get there 🤙

That paddle must blow!
never done it but Im sure it does!
Yup. It was a major accomplishment just making it out to the sets. Relentless inside section and major currents made you work for it. Whew...
Love these wawes usually wawes in san francisco don’t have barrel, unfortunatly I didn’t get to go out there yesterday
yeahh its pretty rare to see spitting barrels out there!

thansk for watching! gunna try to get on a boat for Mavs, but if not I will be at OB mid morning through the afternoon
