In this explore we visit an old English pub, closed for 15 years!
Still filled with a treasure trove of antiques and memorabilia, we were blown away by the things left behind!
Built in the Victorian era, this pub was once a hotel for passengers coming off the train at the station nextdoor.
It was used in the filming of the BBC drama 'The railway children'.

Ah The Thurlow Arms.
I started work in the kitchen in the early 80's then moved to bar work when I cam of age.
The original landlord was Major Richard (aka Dick) Chisholm. He bought the pub when he left the army. The pub was a free house, very popular with a good group of regulars both young and old. Often being 3 deep at the bar at the weekend and a good food reputation.
Dick and his wife, Maxine, sold the establishment to Julian Gibb, who's brother Ted used to own the Cider House at Shackleford, and it was Julian who started The Baynards brewery having the B&B rooms converted to the brewery in 1996. It was he who brewed the beer until his unexpected passing. His father and sister took over the running of the pub (some say into the ground) until it closed.
I believe the Gibbs still own it.
Great times and memories - met some great people there including the gorgeous lady that is now my wife!!
This was a very old place. Looks like Ed really enjoyed this one. Love watching all the videos keep on going to places like this and letting us see all of them. Thank You
@christineSTEACY glad you enjoyed! We'll keep making them if you keep watching them 😀👍
Sweet Ed
Only just seen this video. I have to ask do you ever take anything from the explorations you do?
Congrats on the 100K. Each of you three has your own talents that contribute to these explores, its what separates you all from the others. I love Edd's general knowledge of all sorts of factoids and how he figures out the purpose of unknown objects. Alex is the climber/musician and Ned is the voice of reason:) Stay safe and keep doing what you three do so well. ETA: I believe that was a hunting boomarang, it has less of an angle.
Cheers from across the pond. Congrats on 100k & thanks for all the laughs and great explores.
You're most welcome 😀👍
My wife’s favourite 3 amigos, Sounds like edd will be doing a lot whistling tonight with all them Antiques
That was sooo good , and Pompeye in a leotard , PRICELESS !!! > Thank you Alex , Ned , Eddy , nothing like that here in Canada . Stay Well , Be careful , God Bless you all . Stuart in Canada ..
This was a good one! Good to see Ned back!
Shame that all of it is going to be lost soon. Loved the handwriting on the deeds. Hand drawn map. A lot of it is a lost art.
Thank you!
That might have been a helmet for horse-riding rather than motorcycling.
I think you should give the old documents to the nearest museum.
You could visit the Valiant Soldier pub in Buckfastleigh, South Devon. The landlord had a heart attack in the 1970s, so the pub remained closed from then, the lady wife continued to live there but never threw anything away. After the lady died the pub was left to the village with everything in it & can be visited.
Ned is so knowledgeable when he said we need to save the deeds, my kind of brother, preserve
What a lovely Sunday treat ❤

😂😂😂 I needed that laugh, way to be a good sport. Cheers
This was just posted on a site of old regulars at this pub during its absolute heyday of the 80s and 90s when it was run by Dick and Max Chisholm. In those days there were literally thousands of hats and various items hung on the ceilings. Dick was ex British forces and an absolute wonderful man. My OH worked for a while as a chef there - he said there was a covered up old well in the middle of the kitchen.
There was a well in the garden - that I do recall.

There's some things you can't unsee. Thanks, Edd, Ned and Alex
What a great explore! So much history about the pub and the railway.
Amazing collection of hats - shame it’s all been left to deteriorate - in particular all those Deeds😳
Surely someone must have been responsible for clearing away important documents.
Fair play to Edd for keeping his side of the bargain … Edd in a tuto - hilarious 🤣🤣

New Zealand 1 pack of 20 smokes is 38.00 …..like cold
Cool pub ,so much stuff left ,crazy, good tour around guys😊
That was an incredible explore. All those hats, in the old pub. Edd looked like a proper plonker in that leotard 😂
That boomerang was a traditional style and it was quite old. Enjoying your adventures.

Congratz Guys! So happy that you got to 100k!! You all really deserve it for the quality you bring! Awesome place, a lot of value in the items left there, shame its left behind :( Thanks for another great explore, and i dont know if i will ever get over Ed in a leotard!! He's a good man isnt he ? Much love to you all
Congratulations on 100k followers 🎉🎉 followed you since day 1 & you make my Sunday .... appreciate what you guys are doing ❤ and Pompeye..... what a f#%king LEGEND you are ...... keep it up fellas & stay safe
Really enjoyed your finds today. I know yous don't take anything from the sites, those Deeds should be donated to the local Historical Society. Don't think future explorers will be as respectful as yous. The looks of the building, probably won't be walkable in another 8 years. Reminds me of the pubs used in filming Midsomer Murders 👍
That was so very cool, so much history.
Congrats on reaching 100k guys 🎉
I am trying to catch up with all your other videos 😊👍 They are all awesome!!!
Awesome video.
Thx for sharing and cheers from ottawa 🇨🇦
Thanks for the interesting find! You guys are great fun to watch! ❤
Ogdens was a tobacco factory in liverpool and the famous ogden was Hilda from coronation street tv programme you 3 are a scream love your channel ❤
Well done guys getting to 100k enjoyed tonight's video how many hats ? Shame a lot of stuff left behind
❤❤❤ Congratulations!! Well-deserved 100K!!
These buildings all need reviving and saving! they are ore heritage. Why they have been allowed to just be left to rot is absurd.
its very depressing knowing these places simply closed when the owner passed away with nobody to take over..."oh he died" turn off power and water, simply shut and lock the door forever.....how depressing is that!!
❤what a cool place ❤ nice to see everyone happy 😊
26:42- this translates as "roar like the lion roars when the jug is not full", it's probably an Oktoberfest souvenir from the 1970s.
Hello Alex, Edd and Ned! Great explore. 😅 Edd in his red outfit. Oh my goodness how funny! Congratulations on your 100,000! 😊❤
