Hope you and your family and friends are doing good and ready to keep your head down and safe with the storms that will be rolling threw Monday and got a safe place to be able to get to.
Great video inspired me to pull apart my 115 merc and clean it up. I was wondering why you have not put the gasket between the intake plate and carbys?
There are only 2 settings on these type of carbs: 1. Idle air mixture screw (specified number of turns from lightly seated ) 2. Float height as per specs in manual.
Man bubba I wish I knew as much bout a boat motor as you great video I’m working on the exact same motor on my Astro thanks you really helped me out. SEMPER -FI
One question on the Mercury 115 like you worked on does all 4 carbs have adjustment screws on them I’m new to the boat world and I’m loving it I really appreciate you brother
On my motor the two top carbs has the adjustment screws 3and 4 are capped of so the guy owned it before me had the carbs rebuilt could he have switched the carbs out of order
dude thank you for doing this video , there isnt any videos on the 115 mariner , please make more if your changing any perpellers or anything for the matter lol , you git a follwer out of me cuz im a fellow 115 owner thanks bud. 👌🏼🙏
HI, could you please show me the difference between the carb with the air mixture screw and the ones without the air mixture screw, I have the same motor and would like to know how the bottom two carbs work without the air mixture screw, I was hoping you would show the carb with the top off as well as the ones with the air screw.
The carb tree has carbs 1&3 connected together with the air-bleed adjustment. so when you adjust carb 1 it's also adjusting carb 3. carbs 2 & 4 are connected the same way! When you adjust the air bleed on carb 2 you're also adjusting carb 4.
@@BubbaRountreeOutdoors Hi thanks for the fast reply, I am now a lot wiser, One more question, can I remove the screws from the bottom two cabs for cleaning or are they best left alone ?? thanks
@@BubbaRountreeOutdoors Hi I had a look and cant see how the carbs 1 and 3 or 2 and 4 are connected, sorry be a nuisance but I am trying to get my head around it, I did try and remove the screws in carbs 3 and 4. but they only turn 1/2 a revolution b4 they go tight and I dont want to damage anything,
@@geraldoakley7688 no worries Gerald! I am not a Marine mechanic but am a retired auto Tech so I was as confused as you are! Any chance you can explain why the top two carbs have the adjustable screws at the top right side of the carb, and the lower two carbs do not have adjustable screws? I have the 99 115 Merc, I can see these are basically the same. Thanks! Great video.
I have a 95 115 Mariner. It has the 2+2 system on it. It idles on the top two carbs and at about 1800 rpm it fires up the bottom two carbs so all four are running at higher rpms. Therefore only the top two carbs have the idle mixture screws since the bottom two aren't doing anything at idle. Your outboard may have the same setup.
@@abe2571 can the engine be made to run at idle on all 4 cylinders by changing the 2 screws on the bottom two carbs to air mixture screws, I would like to know what the bottom screw looks like in or our of the carb

Great video. I just recently picked up a '87 bass tracker. In the process of restoring it. I was wondering why it looked like it had hook ups for two batteries. I'm assuming I have a 24v system as well. Do you need two batteries hooked up to run anything electric? (Trim, lights, ect.) I hooked up one battery and got nothing. I tried it on both sides. ( One side at a time) I'm very new two the boating world and appreciate any response or tips. Thanks
Hey Robert... You only need 2 batts to run your trolling motor! 1 battery should handle all other accessories! The problem could be anything when you have an electrical failure! The 1st place to start is the fuse block to check for power and blown fuses. Wade
Hi, what year is this outboard? Its identical to mine but i cannot find a manual or even find the year of the outboard. Any help is appreciated. Great vid btw
Awesome video...started getting the front plate off on my Mariner 100, then lost courage and tightened it back up. Sprayed in Carb cleaner and runs awesome; but I see there is quite a bit of petrol inside the cowl. Could it be out the carbs(due to me trying to remove the front plate) or is there a loose connection on the fuel line?
Hey there! I have a 2002 mercury 75hp 2 stroke with a carb tree like yours, but just 3 instead of 4 carbs. The boat is bogging down when full throttle. I tried a different gas tank, used seafoam, and changed spark plugs. Still bogged down. I watched the video a couple times and ordered 3 gasket kits and tackled it today. Your video is awesome and it helped a lot. I have one question about this process. I know that there is a gasket that goes between the carburetor and the engine (it feeds through the carb tree mounting screws). Is there supposed to be that same gasket on the other side of the carb that goes between the carb and black plate? I just got this engine so I don’t know what the previous owner did. The gasket kit only came with one of those (they are a rounded diamond shape with a carb sized circle cut out the middle and two screw holes.). Thank you for your help!!!
Hey brother got a question I have a 1995 mercury 115 hp outboard it has the flat nose plugs in it I was to I could switch them to a standard type plug is that true
hey Billy... Yeah, Merc love those 'Surface Gap' plugs. They were designed for extended high RPM durations. Not great for guys who want to idle or troll for extended periods of time! Yes, you can replace with an electrode plug if you have adequate piston clearance. You will want to look at a plug chart and get the replacement plugs with the same # or better yet get the next hotter plug. Be sure to install 1 plug while leaving all other plugs out of the powerhead, slowly rotate your engine with a wrench on the flywheel nut, make a couple revolutions then remove and recheck your plug gap. If all is good, then install new plugs and no worries!! Wade
