My water tube come out with my lower unit is there a trick to getting the tube to line back up i have moved the tube in all directions and i can not get the tube to line back up in the head any help would be grateful
Thanks for posting! I have a '92 Astro with a Mercury 115, and will be doing the same thing to it in a few days. Tip for you - Remove and look behind your trolling motor prop from time to time, I recently removed a "Bird Nest" of fishing line from behind there! Ride safe!
Poptarts are better than Wheaties anyway. God bless a wife that will help rather than be a negative. May God bless yall with all that you do in His name.
Getting ready to change out my impeller 115 mercury. Should I change out the gear oil first that way if theres any issues i can research and address that , like gear oil not looking right when I drain it before I drop the the lower unit . Thanks for the video its a great help and you explain things very well !
Does that kit you got include a seal for the shift shaft? Have you ever done the shift shaft seal? If so was it pretty simple? If you do a water pump replacement next spring could you do a video to show the shift shaft seal replacement? I’ve become your biggest fan in the last hour! Thanks for your videos on this motor.
i have a 89 115 meriner 2 stroke im assuming it would all be the same way you did it never worked boat engines gotta put a power head on it and figured id do the pump too
Been told for this job that is is best to put it in forward gear before taking apart, not sure if you did this, if you did can you explain why it’s good to do so?
Great video thank you so much! Regarding the gear oil, i have been told that filling that should go from bottom to top meaning that you actually fill it using the bottom hole which by the time it comes out the top hole, all the air pockets are gone. Have you heard this as well, your thoughts?
hey Dave... yessir! the best way to fill the foot is from the bottom drain-hole. I have filled both ways many times. I didn't have the proper fill tools to pump the fluid from the bottom this time. Wade
Regarding how you fill the lower unit oil, I was taught to fill from the drain plug up to the oil level hole, to ensure all the air pockets/bubbles are removed from the system, however you always let some air in once you remove the pump from the drain hole to put the drain screw in. Are you sure you are filling it full using this method of filling through the oil level hole? I know you said spec is 665mL to fill, were you able to confirm you got in 665mL using your method? I might change over to your method if your having success getting in the correct quantity in there; I have the 99 merc 115. Thanks for the Video!
i need your help my motor on my title says a 1987 115 horse mariner but my bolt pattern looks nothing like yours can i send you pics of my motor and see if you can help me out i am at wits end got all the bolts out i could see but the lower unit will not move any help would be great
Most likely there is a hidden bolt under your trim tab. Remove the trim tab and look up into the channel there and you will probably find your hidden faster.
love your videos you explain what you are doing in terms for a country boy like me to understand keep up the good work and tight lines to you
my pleasure brother! I'm glad the video helped out...
Pop Tarts did you well (gave you strength) , Jo Ann! :) thansk for the video!

They should be close!
How many gallons of fuel does it consume per hour at low rpm?
Been told for this job that is is best to put it in forward gear before taking apart, not sure if you did this, if you did can you explain why it’s good to do so?
Disregard, your video already explains that you do it and why. Thankyou!
Is this a 6 cyl. If not would it be the same for a 6 cyl. I have a mariner 115 6cyl 2 stroke
Hi mate, I over tighten the housing bolt, one bolt was slipping off, how to deal with it please?
Not sure bout that 1 Steven... you may have to drill it out and install an insert kit for a new fastener.

Yes. Always fill from bottom if you can. Filling from top you will never be all the way full. Will leave air pockets
Hi. Thanx for your videos. I own a 125 Mariner 2003. Do you know why my outboard leaks feul and oil when I trim it up?
Sounds like a fuel/oil line may be cracked or split! When you trim the motor it will cause the lines to leak...
I opened the front cover of tje carburetors and the feul oil mix seemed to flow out of the bottom carburetor.
@@evertderuiter9300 1 of the float bowls could be leaking or 1 of the float bowl drain plugs could be loose or leaking.

I have refilled the lower units using both the top and bottom fill methods with equal success... so, which ever way you choose seems to work fine!!
