    I have a 4.7 liter Dakota about to turn 250k, no issues.
    I almost can't believe it myself!

    These were common on the 1st gen 4.7 engines 99-04 but the second and third gens are more reliable so long as you maintain them, at least from personal experience

    Cut them in half, use a grenade 🤣🤣🤣 I have a 4.7 with nearly 200k miles in my truck and it purrs like a large kitten, very happy with it! Maintenance is the key to a happy healthy machine!

    Typically the reason the rocker has fallen off is because the valve seat has become dislodged,dropped a bit and when this occurs it binds up the valve. The rocker is usually what gives way. Alot of times we find that the seat then reseats back into the head. With that said to reassemble the rocker is normally a temporary fix as the seat will eventually fall out again and either do the same thing or cause more damage.

    Other than that though, the engine has been great so far!

    so if i buy a new OEM intake , you should have no excuse to back out of your warranty then?

    valve guide seals fall out of alot of older engines... you’ll generally find them in the oil strainer screen; when you tear it down because the oil pump starved and so did everything else

    It's obscene that Dodge even puts these motors in so many vehicles. Used to be they made a decent motor but got poor MPG, now they break down and only get 2-3 mpg better than the old LA motors.

    It's commonly agreed among the Jeep KJ crowd that most of the problem engines have already destroyed themselves (3.7) by now. Most of these engines are rebuilt at least once by 200,000 miles, so owners shouldn't be worried about modding their vehicles as long as they know the service history of the engine.

    Have you heard of a fix for the rocker arms just falling off, on the 4.7 dodges?

  • @funktron4

    How many vehicles with these 3.7 engines were sold and what percentage of them have had this failure that you're referring to? Do you know how widespread the problem is in real numbers, not hype?

    @ Powertrain Products, I bought a Hemi off you guys awhile back for a 2006 300C, and I have been noticing that I only run 13 PSI oil pressure at idle (tops out at a little over 50, even during w.o.t. acceleration). Your videos say you use a "high volume oil pump" . I was wondering what the pressure should be at though; I know the general rule of thumb is 10psi per 1k rpm, but still, 13 psi seems WAAAAAAY low, especially for a "high volume" anything......

    • @PowertrainProducts
      @PowertrainProducts  4 года назад +1

      13 psi at idle on these with 50 at operating rpm is just fine. Remember the common misconception is a "high volume" pump equals higher pressure. But high volume means it circulates the oil faster. This does not increase the pressure. A prime example from a very generic engine would be looking at the 350 melling makes a m55-hv for high volume and a m55-hp for higher pressure.

    The 4.7 in the rams is the same as the jeeps and Dakota’s right?

    • @PowertrainProducts
      @PowertrainProducts  4 года назад

      Generally speaking, yes. However some engines have EGR and some do not so you would need to check for that.
