My 08 4.7 is a champ. Regular maintenance and battery and starter only. Oh yeah, new serpentine as well. 170,+/- on the clock. It runs so well i,m afraid to change plugs. Solid.
I changed my plugs after 175K biggest problem i had was getting the correct thin walled socket, and also the coil pack boots melted to the plug had to break them to get them off other than it was pretty simple.
08 4.7, 188k. 3.92 rear end, tons of towing a 7k lb camper, also a 3k landscape rig during the summer. Been using marvel mystery oil in my fuel and increased my city mpg to just under 15 per gallon. Replaced the radiator and alternator 2 years ago. That's about it.
I have the same truck but the 5.7L hemi. I use it to commute to an office job and then do a lot of hauling and payload for my homestead. The thing has been rock solid. I really like Having one of the very last of the 3rd gen, as most of the bugs were worked out.
I just got a 2008 4.7 234,000 miles runs great no codes are anything, i found out these 4.7 respond really good to tuners, so i got a superchips tuner adds 50hp/50tq dyno proven which is amazing for n/a engine.
My 08 4.7 has 214k miles and still looks and run great. A small front main seal leak. But a bottle of AT-205 fixed that. I won’t get rid of it until it dies.
Nice vid👍 sense you have more experience than me haha, and you mentioned the 4.7s are different in the later models, would you suggest a 09/10 1500 with the 4.7? Something to daily drive, winters and to take the kayaks out, or would you rather stay with the 5.7? Honest opinion.
If you’re talking a 09/10 you can’t loose either way the the 4.7 is usually a better price point, where the hemi usually comes with a premium. Honestly I personally would stick with 5.7 just because it’s a more simple engine. Either way if you’re looking to purchase one, I strongly recommend having someone or yourself look it over, pull the sparkplugs & put a borescope down the holes to check for piston & valve damage.

Pretty with my 4.7 ram
any reason the heat shield is removed?
Did you sell this or still for sale
Only 47k on my 08 4.7 rare 6spd manual.
Want to sell it
Do you like it? The 4.7 and 6 speed manual seems pretty sweet.
i have the same 4.7 dodge 1500 and color . but the motor is locked . would it be worth replaceing with another engine?
