I really appreciate your videos and only offer suggestions on things that have helped me, not because i know alot, Y'all have really help me stay on top of next moves and i appreciate that and try to return the favor with little tips that have helped me.
I purchased stuff last year to try my queen-rearing but I haven't tried it yet. By watching you I see that I still need a couple more items. I believe you had a good successful rate for the first time.
Thank you for the EZPZ queen rearing and protection video. You did just fine in the way you were handling those cells. I pretty much buy 9 day old cells from several commercial beekeepers in my area over the years. Any grafting I usually traded a half a days work for three bars put into my cell starter to take home that evening. Enjoyed your live stream team presentation the other night.
Thanks for checking in. It’s always cool to hear how other folks do things. Sounds like you have a good system worked out with your friends. I hope these do well. Will know soon enough!
Bruce who sales those queen cages.??. Congratulations on a great take on your cells for your first. You have got it going on. Thanks for the update . Thanks
They have been in the splits now for nearly 2 weeks. I will probably give them another week or two before I check them. Some say to wait two weeks but I have found it works better to wait a little longer.
Hello Bruce I’m in grapeland Texas. I really enjoy your videos thanks for sharing your experience. I have a question I’m in the queen rearing stage myself so I was wondering if you add royal jelly to your cups before you graft.
I have a friend that’s reached out to you John Hudson and says he’s planning a trip to visit you he ask me to tag along. I’d love to see your aipary, visit and talk bees.
@@danleonard1974I’m sure we could make that happen. I am typically in the bees on Fridays and Saturdays but occasionally am out of town or otherwise occupied.
You can get them from Mann Lake or Dadant or probably a number of places. Just google “JZBZ cell protectors” and options will pop up. These have the little spikes on both sides.
I have found if they draw the cells out they most likely will be viable. The first queens I grafted, I hatched out in the incubator bc I was worried about that.
@@brucesbees I understand. I have about 11 capped when I checked two days ago and didn’t have my cages with me to cover them. I am hoping this evening when I get home from work ai can get them caged without hatching. That is if I am not too late. I hope you have a great weekend and look forward to seeing more videos sir. Keep up the great work.
You ever try the metal bound queen excluders ? Ive tried those plastic ones and they squash alot of bees and restrict the movement terrible for the workers. Three problems with them. They lay flat on frames(no ⅜space, the slots are opposite direction of travel, and they are alot of small hole slots. The metal bound dont seem to hinder the workers at all. I know they cost more but i think youll find them alot better
Yes I have a few of them. The metal ones are better but so much more expensive. I have had good success with the plastic ones. But yes I agree the metal ones are better.
I hear ya. Maybe I will. First time doing this. Not even sure what they are supposed to look like. I did hold them up to the sun and it looked like there were some white queens in there. I still have a little to learn for sure.
This kind of joy makes for the romance of keeping bees and outweighs the realities of the hard work it takes to get there.
Yes. There is a lot of satisfaction when things come together. Just hope they are viable, get mated and turn into nice quality queens.
Thanks Bruce, Love the video. I use a turkey feather to brush the bees, they don't get as mad at the feather like they do with the brush.
Thanks for the tip. Makes sense!
I'm really happy for you. Learning a new skill and applying it is one of the most rewarding things we can do.
Absolutely. Hope everything turns out well with them. Thanks for checking in Conner!
Great video Bruce. Thanks for sharing your experience with us.
My pleasure. Thanks for watching!
You carry yourself with all this as a first timer with grace and confidence. Nicely done, Bruce!
Thanks! I will see how they do. Hopefully they will do well.
Everything looked good as always Bruce! Enjoyed the content
Thanks for watching!
Great looking cells! Thanks for your support!
Bruce with the flows you get I think it's going to go great, food, food, food.👍
We will see. Out spring flow has just started. Hopefully it will be a good one.
@@brucesbees I think it's gona be a good one this season. Blessed Days Bruce...
Great video as usual Bruce!!
Thanks man!
Great video! I saw these at the NAHBE. Once I start queen rearing I will definitely be using these!
Great job grafting

Very nice and informative contents, professional video and well edited. Thank you and best of luck
Thank you for the kind words and for the support!
Great video Bruce
Thanks!
Enjoyed you and seems like the bee's have calmed down
These have but there are still some feisty ones lol. We are getting there though. Slowly but surely.
First! Looking forward to watching the premiere Bruce :) have a great day :)
Thanks Grayson.
So incredible way to go man
Thanks for checking in. I love it!
Looks good to me, you either succeed or learn, never fail!
That’s right. Thanks for checking in my friend!
Great video Bruce, can’t wait to see the follow up.
Thanks for checking in. Will see how it goes!
Looking good Bruce
Thanks. Will see how they do!

Yeah I was pleased. I bought the EZPZ cages and use the cell protectors. Not sure it is all necessary but it makes sense to me.
Awesome job Bruce! Looking forward to see how they all do. Take care!
Me too! Thanks for checking in!
Awesome video as always! Looking forward to the next video to see your results!
Thanks for checking in. Will be interesting to see what we end up with.
Love those boxes!
Thanks Tim. Hope all is well with you!
@@brucesbees I am blessed and highly favored!!!
@TennesseeTim73 as are we all!
Cool system

Bruce you deserve a big raise. LOL Nice job there. Roll Tide

Great job!
Thank you!
Great video Bruce very happy for u do u have a link for the incubator have a blessed week and I hope they all mate for you.
It’s just a standard incubator I bought at Tractor Supply Company. Nothing fancy.
I’m about to start grafting and I’ll be using my Apimaye 7 frame nucs. One as a starter/finisher, and the other as my resource hive. Looks great!
Awesome! I think the 7 frame Apimaye is a great resource to have for many reasons. It worked out well here.
Good technique Bruce. I do about the same thing. You look like Vanna White when you show off those frames
Haha! I hear ya! Thanks for checking in!
First time grafting, a phenomenal job.Hope they all take.
Me too! Thanks for checking in!
Good stuff Bruce. Great first run. I'll be curious how these develop for you.
Thanks my friend. Hope they are doing well.
How long before you go back in and check for results Will be interested in which cells do the best and from the different lines you used

Hello Bruce I’m in grapeland Texas. I really enjoy your videos thanks for sharing your experience.
I have a question I’m in the queen rearing stage myself so I was wondering if you add royal jelly to your cups before you graft.
I did not. I’m sure it would beneficial but the key is a really well fed and motivated cell builder.
Ok thanks. I usually don’t myself but I’ve heard that most do so just wanted your opinion.
Yeah I am still very new to the grafting scene.bSo definitely not an expert.

Love those cages , can you purchase them without the qeen kit.? Enjoying your process. Congratulations
Yes you can I think. EZPZ.BUZZ
Hey there Bruce! Gorgeous cells! Where do you get those cell protectors
You can get them from Mann Lake or Dadant or probably a number of places. Just google “JZBZ cell protectors” and options will pop up. These have the little spikes on both sides.
How does the queen get out of those little red protectors?
There is a hole at the bottom. So she can just walk out when she emerges.
I have found if they draw the cells out they most likely will be viable. The first queens I grafted, I hatched out in the incubator bc I was worried about that.
I hope I have a good result. I am most concerned because I placed them a little sooner than is ideal. We will see!
Great video Bruce. I am grafting this year using the EZPeeZee system as well and I like it. Did you have any queens hatch out in the cages?
No. Didn’t leave them in long enough to risk that.
@@brucesbees I understand. I have about 11 capped when I checked two days ago and didn’t have my cages with me to cover them. 1. Id graft from one of the cordovans. Lol
2. Id candle them to make sure theyte viable.

missed your queen at 7:19
Hmm didn’t see her? Where on the frame?
Wouldn't have to mark you hives with QRD. LOL
Ha! That’s true. I should get some. Brian and I have talked about it.
Give 1 foundation to work with and you have not the problem that they build comb on the cells.
Good idea thanks!
