    It's great that it's going well. I have to keep reminding myself and my mentees, that beekeeping is the long game. There is no such thing as a short term. It's like cricket or baseball. Not the games with a clock. Thank you!

    They look good Bruce. That’s a nice yard. I just put mated queens in 4 of my splits yesterday. Saskatraz queens. Up to 7 colonies now. I can’t keep up with equipment. It’s like I never have enough boxes and frames lol. Have a good weekend. I enjoyed your video.

    Yes Bruce that first one you could tell right off that there was no laying queen and there may be a young virgin about. They were running all over the place right up to before you found her. Give her a chance. Maybe a frame of eggs and larvae to give them something to do? Good to see you scraping the top bars for built up burr comb. So many beekeepers let that stuff ride. That 3rd box looked really great. Good population and white nectaring of the comb, give them another box. That small swarm does have a beautiful queen. Needed to be dumped over all drawn frames from the get go. Great potential combine with a queenless hive to give her more bees for population and more release foraging. Feed 1:1 syrup and pollen patty? Last one you could tell from the start by the new white wax. A young newly mated laying queen. It's fun to be an observer to guess what condition the hive is in before you actually find the frames that gives you that final decisive conclusion. Please know these are just kind observations IMO of things going on and is by no means what needs tbd. It's just the thing that I would do upon seeing what it looks like popping the lid. Great title of video. Now get to work! :) Thanks. 🐝

      I appreciate the comment. And I have started doing more scraping though I am still not very consistent with it. These inspections were actually a couple of weeks ago. You should see them now! Thanks for watching and for your thoughtful and kind words.

    Congrats Bruce! I would guess the ones that had a lot of capped brood were the ones were the cells took and the others that has mostly larva made their own queens. Kamon always says that if you move your swarm more than 5 miles it is more likely to stay, just a thought.

      @brucesbees  7 месяцев назад +3

      Awesome! I have used those in the past and they work well. I actually order the Medline Venom Steel gloves in a box of 500. They are double layered and I have settled on them for the most part. But those HF gloves do work well.

    Get 30% of your splits into pro nuc boxes. They are super nice. They stack inside each other when not in use. The double screen board is also nice for making increase.

    • @brucesbees

      Thanks for the tips. I think Pro Nucs can be a problem in the extreme heat we have here but I know a lot of people use them for increases.

    Thanks for taking us along in the bee yard . Those Medline gloves you were talking about down in the comments do you happen to have the information on them??. An do you remember what ml they are ??. Darron at Jerome bee was talking here while back his an they are 14 ml but they did not have my size in 14 ml but they had 10 ml in my size . The ones you like are they kind of like a dish washing glove. The same thing that happened to me two years ago is happening this year again. My queens are not making it back from there mating flight . I know they get eat BUT here it is not even a bad time of season for those pest yet . I have always run Italian bee but I purchased a bunch of mated carniolan to give a try because I have been get info on them for quite a while. Sorry this was so long I just enjoy bees . Your colonies are looking great. Thanks

      These are not super thick and the bees will sting through them occasionally but is like them. Should probably try a pair of the thicker ones. Here is a video I did on them. ruclips.net/video/W_EzvT1iGWQ/видео.htmlsi=wgg9ctP6C2y5CnDT

    When marking the lid queen right you put a check mark. ✅ you should try and add the strength of the colony so when you come back and stack the misses you can get it in the big ones

    • @brucesbees

      Would have been a good idea but many times I just watch swarms almost as an experiment. Some of them do amazingly well. If they fizzle out I don’t really worry about it.

    Great video Bruce as always . Do you use queen excluders when you put your honey supers on ?

    • @brucesbees

      Typically yes. I usually add them after the bees have worked the comb for awhile. They are packing in in so fast this year though I haven been stacking so high and so fast I haven’t had a chance to place excluders yet!😜
